Firstly, a meme I swiped from

In work news, the rest of this week isn't going to be a lot of fun. It's the end of the month coming up and we're feeling a lot of pressure to exceed budget this month since we've been under budget previously (I don't understand the semantics of the whole thing either), and I have yet to do the BCBS that's come in because my boss has been out for the past few days so she can use up her PTO time or else she'll lose it. Anyway, this is only my second week doing it and while I know how to do it and it generally doesn't take a LOT of time, but it does get involved and stuff and I have a somewhat limited time frame. Ugh.
I'm honestly trying NOT to stress out about it with limited success. X___x
In other news, guess who was in our neck of the woods yesterday? Joe Biden, that's who! Here! In MELBOURNE of all places. Go figure...
I received my copy of Runaways yesterday. The storyline is pretty decent. I'm still iffy on the art though. Like why Ramos insists on rendering Chase like a friggin' linebacker!!! Geez, he played lacrosse, not football! Ugh! Just... just NO!

The first commercially-made ballpoint pens went on sale - at Gimbels Department Store in New York City. The pens sold for $12.50 and racked up a tidy profit of $500,000 in the first month.
Today we had ice cream at work. I had a scoop of vanilla and one of chocolate. Later, I had the remains of the orange sherbet. I told mom it was a good thing we went to the gym afterward.
I was reading a new series yesterday. I liked it.
( Honey Hunt by Miki Ahara )
I also got the newest issue of Runaways in the mail.

Colonel Edwin Drake found oil. The well was soon pumping out 20 barrels of crude oil a day - and Titusville, Pennsylvania became the home of the first oil well.

fandom_secrets posted about disliking Ramos' art for Runaways and I must concur. No... just NO! His art is waaaay to stylized and cartoony for this series. His style is anime-like and not that I have anything against anime (I mean, come on), but it's just not right for this series. I mean, Molly looks about 5! *shudders*
And, in case you've been under a rock for the past 24 hours, Heath Ledger died yesterday. The autopsy was "inconclusive". I think it's due to an accidental overdose. I doubt he'd so something like commit suicide since he has a young daughter and he didn't seem the sort to just leave her like that. I guess we'll find out eventually.
And I've been scouring YouTube to try to find clips of Count Duckula. I used to watch that show all the time on Nickelodeon when I was a kid! Such memories... I think the first season is available on Amazon. Hmmm...
Every time I listen to this song, I think of the scene in 13 Going On 30 where everyone is doing the dance from the video. Hee hee...
tenel_ka, you guys should TOTALLY do a version of this whenever you cosplay as the SW zombies. LOL!
And hey, when I was growing up, it was actually COOL to like MJ.

I got off early from work today. The system we use to input data into the database was down and since what I do basically uses it, I couldn't do anything. They kicked everyone off at 1:30 because of some sort of network analysis thing, I dunno. So I left about 12:30.
I finally got my copy of Runaways yesterday. It only took a couple of months... It was a pretty good issue. Although I wonder what they're going to do with Nico and Victor... Plus, since time travel is involved, I wonder if the issue of "screwing with the continuity" is gonna come up.
I dunno what I'm gonna do with my free time. Maybe upload more stuff, maybe take a nap, maybe watch a movie. *shrugs*
See how interesting my life is? Whoo-hoo!!

Well, today at work nothing really interesting happened. I worked, didn't get freaked out and left at a decent time. Afterwards, I stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few things we missed on Saturday as well as a few things for a baby shower we're going to tomorrow. And when I was checking out, some lady a few lines next to mine was checking out a whole cart-full of groceries in the 20 Items or Less line. What is it with those people?! Gah!
I wrenched my shoulder a bit while playing Wii Tennis last night. We went to a birthday party and they had a Wii gaming system there (the one I've been trying forever to find), and a few of us played the Wii Sports game. It was really fun. I think I like the bowling one the best. Tennis is fun, but I need to be better coordinated I think. I suck at Golf. But I must say, I definitely want one now more than ever...
I was reading through some of my Runaways this weekend and it got me thinking that the next issue wont be out until October, which really cheeses me off. *siiiiigh* I mean, I can understand a delay here or there, but four months worth?! Not good. Plus, I don't think I like the plans the next writer has in store for one of my fave characters. From what I hear, Terry Moore is a good writer, and his series, Strangers in Paradise was supposed to be pretty good (I never read it). But he mentioned something about "not escaping [their] roots..." meaning in regards to evil parentage. And I'm like, why single him out? I mean, all of the kids' parents were pretty evil, and they seem to be pretty stable (Alex doesn't count here). All of them have "evil genes" and some such. I dunno. I guess I'm being a wee bit defensive. *sniffs*
Annnd, I heard the the three surviving memebers of Led Zep are reuniting! Whoo! I wonder if there'll be a tour and I wonder if it'll be in my neck o' the woods...
Anyway, onto figure out what to nosh on for supper and read more Ichigo/Rukia fics! Heeheehee!!!

Well, I missed my chance to get home early. It all hinged on whether or not any fee tickets came in that needed posting. Well, despite my prayers, I was out of luck. So instead of leaving before lunch, I got off at 3:30. But I didn't do too bad for doing it mostly by myself. I mean, there's still some stuff I'm unsure about, but overall not too bad.
I'll be glad when Wednesday comes around and we have a day off (my first paid holiday). Mu plans are: absolutely nothing. Mom and I are gonna veg and probably watch a movie. Hopefully it'll be less "adventurous" than last years. No more gal bladder attacks, thank you.
I also discovered I can't wear my capri pants to work anymore, which I think is bizarre. I've worn them before and not had any problems whatsoever. I dunno if it's just a departmental policy or what. So, I have to adjust my wardrobe...
We had a nice weekend. The surprise birthday party was a success and everyone seemed to have a really good time. And I'm glad there was a good turnout too, I was worried about that.
I GOT MY RUNAWAYS!!!!! Wheeee!!! Finally... now to settle into my nest, finish up some laundry, load the dishwasher and relax.

Well, things seem to be getting easier. I hope they continue to do so. I'm trying not to be too anxious about things, but it's the way I am and I don't really like it. *fnarl* My eyes were starting to get tired by the end of the day, so I packed it in. I took a bit of a nap when I got home too since I was tired for some reason. I went to bed earlier than I usually do, but I was still a bit tired this morning. Since I'm not a morning person anyway...
I got my very own login at work today also. This is actually quite exciting since it's one more step toward legitimate employment. Not that I wasn't "employed" before, but this is FULL TIME!! *squee* Hopefully it wont be the death of me...
WHERE'S MY FRAKKIN' RUNAWAYS?!?!?!?!?!? I've been waiting over a month, Marvel!! Besides which, I need to stop by the comic place on Saturday and see if the other titles I collect are in.
And you realize how old you're getting when the CLASSIC RADIO STATION you listen to at work plays songs you used to listen to when you were a kid in the 80's!! *sob*

Work today was busier than Tuesday, which is fine. I dunno what's in store tomorrow. I guess I'll just have to see what comes up.
I went and got issue #3 of Buffy Season Eight and issue #12 of Star Wars Legacy. I also found the four volume issues of Runaways/Young Avengers addressing the whole "Civil War" thing. It wasn't too bad. The writing was decent and the art wasn't too bad. The regular monthly isn't coming out until the 27th, which is bizarre to me. Why so long?! *fnarl*

Well, I did filing today. I had a brief moment where my frustration was beginning to get to me, but it didn't last very long fortunately. I'll have more to do tomorrow I know. Oh, well. One day at a time is my new motto.
Mom and I visited the traveling Vietnam Memorial at the park this weekend. I did see the real one in D.C, but this one was just as moving. Mom left something in remembrance for a guy she knew at school who was killed over there. There was a memorial for the War Dogs that had gone over. I almost became emotional at that point, actually. I guess different things affect different people differently.
Saturday wasn't too bad either. Mostly what I did (as well as everyone else there) was pull out the documents generated by the computer charts so that the remainder of the charts can be scanned into the computer charts later on. It actually does make sense in a way.
When I'm out Wednesday to get my oil changed (and to do a few other things), I might look into getting a longer Ethernet cord. Right now, I'm sitting at the end of my bed since that's as far as the cord will reach for my laptop. Therefore, I have no back support and it can get a bit uncomfortable after too long. I'd like to be able to lay back like I could when my AirPort was working...
I was able to find volume 5 of Kaze Hikaru Saturday after work. I was so excited. Not as much Okita/Sei squish, but still a good read. I still haven't received my volumes of Furuba I ordered form YesAsia even though they were supposed to have been shipped Wednesday. IIRC, it took a while from my last order from them to get to me. However, I did get my recent issue of Runaways today, so that'll sooth my annoyance to a degree...
And I think The Red Tide is about to rear it's ugly head. I'm more hormonal than usual, as my subject line will attest to.

…and I say "More power to 'em." Take this guy for instance. Words can't even begin to describe…
"We're on a collision course to wackiness!"
That seems to fit pretty well.
This song rocks hard. It's awesome. The guitars are wailing like nobody's business. I heard a clip from the X-Box commercial for "Guitar Hero II" and said, "I have got to have that song!" I took a chance and looked up a keyword having no idea who the artist was and bingo! I struck gold! So I bought it and am now head banging to my rocker chick's heart's delight.
Today turned out to be very fruitful. I went to the bookstore, knowing that some manga I've been panting over had arrived and I snatched them up with delight. Now, I can see and read all about the droolisciousness of Hakkai in his Youkai form…
I also bought some comics. Buffy 2 (Willow's back!) and Star Wars Legacy 10 (come back Jan! We miss you!) and Runaways 25 (yeah, I know I subscribed, but I haven't received it, so I think it starts next month. If I wind up having two copies, oh well). Even though I miss Adrian Alphona's art terribly, Mike Ryan does a pretty damn good job, I must say. Not crap-tastic at all. I can deal. Plus, Joss is still able to keep the spirit of the gang intact. I laughed out loud in a few places. Same with Buffy.
Well, I need to clean some strawberries and whatnot, so I'll skitter off for the time being. Laters!

I think I'm an electronics jinx. My iPod vomited on me today. I couldn't get my songs to play or even get it to shut off. It worked fine Saturday when I last used it, so I have no idea what happened to it. I didn't do anything to it that I don't ordinarily do. Curious. So I'm gonna go to Apple Support and see if I can find anything out. If not, then it's off to the Apple store to see if they can figure it out. I felt naked today without it.
But, I got my Runaways print in the mail today, so that brightened my day a lot! It looks gorgeous! I think I'm gonna have it framed. *preens*
Mom took a personal day today. She was feeling a little burned out with all of the overtime and extra work she's been doing. I hope she gets some relief soon…
I got the Spider-Man 3 novelization yesterday after we got done at the movie (Wild Hogs for the curious). And it won't spoil me in the slightest. I also go the Mirrorverse compilation with the New Frontier story Cutting Ties. I haven't fully read it yet, but I did skim through it some and found some very interesting variations I must say.
I also read some of the second Trinity Blood manga. *whistles* Boy, Fr. Leon is smokin'!! Those abs you could literally scrub clothes on. And I know I'm going to the special hell for saying that…

It's Friday!! *dances for joy* I have a much greater appreciation for Friday's since I started working. However, my excitement has been slightly dampened by the fact I also work a couple of hours on Saturday too.
The network went down today at work for a time. No one could do anything at all on the computers. And since what I do heavily involves the computer… My thought is that since we're scanning the paper charts onto the computer database, what'll happen when something like this happens again, and for a longer period of time? We'd be up a creek, that's what.
I bought a Runaways print the other day. It was a steal for $25! I bought it from Christina (the colorist of the series. She has an LJ). I'm pretty excited. Useful? No. Worth it? You bet! I think I'll have it framed when it comes. *giddy*
Mom wants to go to the movies this weekend. She has gift certificates she got from Christmas and wants to use them.
I was playing DVD's on Hakuryuu yesterday. It was kinda fun. My Internet connection is sporadic at best, but I can get on for short periods of time. Snoopy plays DVD's, but like with everything else, it's extremely slow.
Now, the laundry awaits. *flutters away*

Well, I tried out my new Migraine medication today. Not for experimentation purposes, mind you, but for which it was intended. While it took care of my blooming headache, it also left me with some side effects. Tingling was mentioned, and I did feel that to some degree (mostly just on my fingertips), but some others cropped up. Dizziness, nausea and drowsiness. So for a few hours, I was feeling kinda high. You know that feeling you get when you've had just a touch too much to drink. That was me. For a while I was thinking, "Dude, I wonder if my hands'll make trails." They wore off eventually, except for the drowsiness. I was still pretty sleepy through most of the day. I hope I don't have to take this stuff while I'm at work again.
Well, I bit the bullet and decided to subscribe to Runaways. Yes, yes. Convey your shock. I'll wait.
Finished? Good.
My weekend plans are as follows:
Saturday:
work
Sunday:
church
That's pretty much it. Thrill at the non-stop roller coaster ride that is my life! Whoo-ho!

But, he doesn't think I warrant any further testing (i.e. MRI, CAT scan, ect). He did say I most likely suffer from Migraines. He gave me some samples of medication to use for when I have another onset and if they help, then I can get a prescription for it. I also got a tetanus shot (since, apparently I was overdue) and orders for blood work for Cholesterol et al. I have to fast for it, so I'll need to do it in the morning. Probably next Wednesday since I can go home and go back to sleep.
I succeeded in changing out my icons. Apparently, I also gained three more upping my total from 112 to 115. I still have a couple of free slots, so I need to find something to fill them with. Maybe A BSG icon or one of
flamika's Bleach icons (primarily the one with Ichigo and Rukia where she's dragging him somewhere). I also got some Runaways icons in my cache. Mostly Victor… Here in case you wanna take a gander. Free for the taking, unless they say custom, then they're look, but please don't touch.
Speaking of Runaways (nice segue, eh), I was successful in my back issue pursuit. The guy at the comic shop was very helpful. I'm pretty much caught up, although I inadvertently missed issue 21… But volume 7 of the digests is coming out next month, so I'll snatch that up sometime. I also got my paws on the Buffy comic. Score!!

I hope everyone had a pleasant weekend. Mine went well. Saturday I worked (naturally) and Sunday mom and I went to the Spring Training baseball game. It was a nice day for it and not rainy like to one we went to before it was. We forgot to bring sunscreen and the sun was most definitely out that day. I put my hoodie back on after a while because I didn't want to get burned. Mom, however, didn't and now her right arm looks like a lobster claw (her words). We drove through the local wildlife area afterwards (we left early). I didn't really see much of anything since being in the sun made me sleepy and I wanted to sleep…
Work today was good. I had more sorting to do before I could do any scanning. It took me about two hours to do it. *sigh* But, no one else is gonna do it, so I have to.
I spent a good portion of the weekend reading Runaways. It's a good series, and I highly recommend it (Joss Whedon Approved!) I bought the smaller digest version (of which there are currently six with more to come), and read almost up to the current issue (almost. There's still a few issues I need to catch up on), and spent most of the time fangirling Victor.
I also read vol. 12 of FMA as well. I hope to do a write up on it as time allows.
My computer's been pissing me off all weekend. It's been extremely sluggish and slow for some reason. I still can't access the Internet from my Mac, so I have no choice but to use my PC. But, I broke my goofy hammer, so I can no longer beat it into submission. I can't update my iPod because loading music onto my iTunes takes forever. Hopefully my Mac will be up and running sometime soon.
