snapdragon76: My Chinese Zodiac sign (Japanese dragon)
Well, I'm still having some health issues. this has been a really crappy summer thus far healthwise.

I saw the Endocrinologist last week. He was very personable and helpful. He did a physical exam and said things looked good in that regard, but the elevated THS could be a result of a chemical imbalance in the brain and had me do some blood work. I haven't heard the results yet.

I still have some infections that I'm dealing with, but to my continued annoyance. It's not nearly as bad as it was, but I'd still like things to be back to they way it was before this whole adventure. I no longer have the rash, but I'm still dealing with dry skin. And now the dermatitis on my face has returned with a vengeance and now I feel like a lizard. I might as well put a bag on my head and be done with it all.

We're going to be leaving for vacation in a couple of weeks and I highly excited about it. We're off to Tennessee and I know it'll be fabulous! I love the area and am looking forward to the fall colors and cooler weather. Mom and I still have some stuff to do before we leave, so we're working on that.

People at work seem to be jumping ship left and right. We lost three people that I know of just in the past few weeks. I don't know if they're leaving due to the buy out or not. I know we'll be downsized, so that might be part of the reason people are leaving, but as for me I'm not going anywhere mostly because I have nowhere to go. I am worried that I might lose my job and what I'd do if that happens, but I'm not gonna stress out about it until I know for sure.

I've recently been rereading my Furuba manga. It takes me back so much. I rewatched the anime as well, but nothing compares to the original manga. I almost forgot how much I adore this series. Through it I've made so many of my friends that I still have, so it'll always be special to me.

Hey everyone! I decided to be a wee bit ambitious and start a new blog about introducing manga and anime to people who may not know what it is.

My mom was the one who came up with the idea, so I thought I'd try my hand at trying to explaining things to people (like my mom) who may not know anything about all these books I keep reading.

So, I hope you guys might drop by and give it a looksee and let me know what you think!

snapdragon76: (Tamaki and Haruhi)
My mom came up with the suggestion that I start a blog about anime, manga and graphic novels in a way that people who don't know what any of that is, can learn about it and understand what it is. And I must say, the idea is very intriguing and possibly has some merit.

Now, I don't know what will come of this, but she says I need to do something that I feel passionate about and I do really enjoy reading manga and graphic novels and watching anime. However, it does feel a little daunting. I mean, I need to find my niche somewhere that others who have more experience haven't already done.

I mean, there are a few people out there who already do blogs and sites regarding manga and anime and graphic novels and have already been well established up to this point. So I'd like to focus on maybe coming from a viewpoint of someone who doesn't know anything about them, like my mom.

My first and main issue is trying to find a hosting site. I already have a WordPress blog for my Alice and Jasper blog and I have a Blogger one that I rarely use, but unless I can change the name of it, I don't think I can use it either.

So, any kind of suggestions/comments/words of advice/encouragement in regards to this somewhat daunting project would be appreciated. I ask you guys because I met the majority of you through manga and anime, so it is to you I cleave to right now.

So, I've been reading/watching more Ouran High School Host Club. I cannot get enough of this series for some reason. It's so cute and dorky and fun.

And yes, I find Haruhi and Tamaki so freaking adorable! XDDD

The series ended pretty recently and I've read the final chapters a dozen times at least. I cannot get enough. I don't have the collected volumes as of yet (except for two), but I have a stroooong feeling I shall be remedying that eventually. I do admit to liking how the art evolution has changed. I thought the way the jaw lines were drawn in the earlier chapters was a bit odd, but it's gotten better in the later chapters and it's really cute.

And I've seen all of the anime and am rewatching it gradually as often as I can. Since I'm doing it live stream from Netflix I only get the dub (which is pretty decent. They manage to keep the honorifics and the Japanese references intact), so I don't have to worry about trying to read and follow along at the same time. But it's the Netflix plugin so I can't do other things while I watch, so I have to make sure I finish everything else beforehand.

Oh, and I also got myself a Tax ID number, so I shall be setting up my photo gallery at ImageKind in due time! I have to go through all of my pictures and do some adjustments and the like before I can set up anything. So hopefully I can at least make a little bit of extra cash in the meantime.

I shall be sure to post the link and pimp myself out once everything is set up! Watch this spot!!

Well, gonna knock a post off before I have to take my shower...

Weekend was fairly uneventful, which is OK once in awhile. Didn't do anything Friday, so I'm not even gonna bother typing it out. I did get some labwork done, but that's hardly exciting...

Saturday was spent with me lounging at home watching the telly while mom went to the local nature reserve to take some pictures. When she came back she said she didn't get a lot of shot because not very many critters were out.

Then we spent the afternoon running errands and went to see Avatar again. :DD

Sunday I spent the entire morning in bed because I'm just that lazy. However, after noon my friend came over and we watched some Princess Tutu together. This would be my third time watching it. For her, she seen a few episodes here and there awhile back, so it's kinda like watching it fresh. She likes watching the subs. Me, I can do either. The one thing about the dubs I like is that I don't have to concentrate so much on following along with the story. But like I've said, I've seen this series a few times before and I adore it just the same each time!!

I must've slept on my back weird last night because it was hurting like you wouldn't believe this morning! Yikes! I feel better now, but I could barely move tis morning. Ugh!
snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Default)
I just finished playing WiiTennis as Tenel Ka and I KICKED ASS!!! I got 138, which is the highest I've ever gotten! Maybe it's because I've been playing for awhile now, or it could be because TK is THAT much of a bad ass. I was gonna play as Jacen afterward, but since the first game was so intense, I didn't. Maybe Wednesday. If I get to go to D*C, I'm totally bringing my Wii.

Maybe I should try to channel her when playing Mario Galaxy...

If I get to go to D*C, I'm totally bringing my Wii.

I had to get some blood work done this afternoon for my Colonoscopy on Friday. The actual procedure itself isn't that big a deal, especially since I'll be unconscious during it. What I'm really dreading is the prep. for one thing, I have to drink this stuff:

It's FOUR FRAKKIN' LITERS!!! Imagine drinking two 2 liter bottles of the nastiest soda you've ever drunk over the course of the evening. That's what my Thursday late afternoon/evening is going to be like. There's four "flavor packets" included which is supposed to make it taste better, but it won't help. All of this plus, the 2 hour season premiere of Lost is going to be that night...

We cleaned mostly this weekend. We got a carpet spot cleaner due to the fact we have a cat who likes to make messes. It works pretty well, too.

We also managed to do laundry despite not having our new dryer yet. Luckily our apartment complex has a decent Laundry Room.

I also bought some new clothes Saturday. Just another pair of jeans and a few tops and shirts. I bought a neat pair of kicks also! They're retro looking and cool!

I got the newest DVD of Bleach and Death Note as well as the new Naruto Wii game (which I've yet to play).

Speaking of which, I saw the conclusion of the Naruto and Sasuke fight and it looks like there might be MORE FILLERS coming!!!! Argh!!

Now I gotta try to write out my profiles for my OC in the Kriff Thiss! RP...

snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (IchiRuki -- ahh love)
Work was so-so today. I had some minor errors pointed out to me today, but they were fairly easily taken care of, so nothing too stressful. I think I handled it quite well, I must say. No meltdowns for me!

I just finished a rigorous game of Wii Tennis, but instead of playing as myself, I played as Mii versions of Rukia and Ichigo. Hurr... Rukia kicked Ichigo's ass, I must say. He had a tendency to hit the ball too hard and cause it to go out of bounds. *whistles innocently*

I think Wednesday I'll play as Jacen and Tenel Ka.

I tried to find a picture frame for the IchiRuki fanart [livejournal.com profile] secondlina drew for me. I got an 8x10 frame, thinking it'd be big enough, but it wasn't. I'd have to either trim it or fold it in order to fit, both things I don't wanna do 'cause it's an original. So it's back on my closet door (which is metal and can use magnets) so it'll stay nice and crease free. So I need to find another one. I've also been meaning to find frames for the Runaways print I bought and an art piece I did years ago. I have a blank spot on my wall for it and everything.

Mom stayed home today because she was congested (or so she said), so she finished the laundry we started. She had to use the laundry room because our dryer is drying a slow death. Hopefully we can find the right part for it. Ideally, I'd like to get a new washer/dryer set... kinda like the ones we used last night at a friends of ours' house. Yes, we came to socialize and we took our laundry with us...

Naruto is getting to the point where I'll watch it again. Mostly because of the fight between him and Sasuke. I tell you, some of the fight sequences were pretty awesome, I must say.

Now, I must poke my muse with the cattle prod again so I can start writing stuff for ATACT again...

Man, it seems like every weekend I have gets sucked away... *siiiiigh* Saturday was mostly spent running errands, but they needed to be done. Before that though, mom went to her Weight Watchers meeting and I was catching up on some shows I had recorded but never got a chance to watch before.

We went to the camera store and mom was drooling over a camera case she wants. We then had lunch at a nearby diner where we ate the the counter, which I though was kinda fun. I liked watching the servers banter with the customers, each other and the cooking staff. That's the people watcher in me.

We then went to Best Buy to look at washer/dryers. I also bought the Bleach box set and a few other DVD's. I saw the Guitar Hero III on the shelves and subsequently drooled.

We then got groceries and called it a day. We didn't get home until about 4:30 or so. I spent the rest of the day mostly watching my Bleach episodes.

Sunday I woke to discover that a bird (or, more likely an entire FLOCK) decided to use my car as target practice. So I had to drive to church with my car marked up. *fnarl*

After church got out, I grabbed a bite and went home, ate and changed my clothes. Then I took my car to get washed of it's new "paint job." After that, I went home, started on some laundry and uploaded more CD's onto my iTunes.

I also watched the first disk of Princess Tutu. I LOVE it!!! *squeeee* Duck is so adorkable!! And I think I have a slight crush on Fakir. I was so enamored (even from just watching the first five episodes) that I bought the yet-to-be released box set from Amazon! I know the series gets darker as it progresses, but I have a feeling it's a definite keeper.

And I bought gas today after work... at $3.12 a gallon!!!!!! Holy !#*@#$&&)@#(!!!!!

New episode of Heroes tonight. After last week's shocker, I wonder what other surprises are in store?

So this weekend was a pretty full one.

Saturday, mom went with my aunt to a High School Marching Band competition. It was mostly bands from our area, though. My high school got high marks, so that was good to hear. It took them most of the day.

I was out getting my tires realigned, which took an hour and a half for some reason. After I finished with that, I headed over to Best Buy in a fruitless attempt to buy the Bleach box set that's supposedly out. So I decided to get the individual disks instead along with King Kong and Hellboy as well as a few more games for my DS and some guide books. I did this despite the fact that I have no room to put them...

Then I went to the bookstore to "browse" and ostensibly buy another Tori Amos CD so I can get in the mindset for the concert on the 18th. Not a tremendous amount of selection, however. I did buy a magazine and a book on iPods, so it wasn't a complete loss.

Then I swung by the mall to have a look around in the hopes of perhaps buying another pair of work pants. No such luck, however. I did get friendly with a few kittens at the pet store! ^_^

I bought a pair of shoes and had lunch then went home. I played more Wii and got a good workout with the boxing game, actually. And I totally got a knockout! Awesome! I also played more Bleach and then I watched a couple of movies: The most recent live action version of Peter Pan and Night At The Museum. Very cute! I played some Tetris DS a bit too.

Sunday was really busy as well. After church, mom and I went looking for a pair of penny loafers for mom's costume for Wednesday. The theme of her office is the 1950's. We searched almost the whole mall before we found some at JC Penney's. They were men's since women's doesn't have a pair of genuine penny loafers. I also got me some super cute hats while I was there (not at Penney, at another store). I have pictures even!

The rest of Sunday was spent at home, relaxing. I took a nap for longer than I had wanted to. When I do, I generally have trouble sleeping later that evening, and I certainly did. In fact, I'm surprised I'm as alert as I was when I woke up this morning despite the fact that my brain wouldn't shut up.

I saw the second episode of Death Note Saturday. Needless to say, I love L's voice! It's the same actor who portrays Lt. Gaeta on BSG. Neat! And Light is beginning his decent nto madness. Fun fun.

And, despite the fact that the Red Tide decided to make an appearance, it's been pretty mild so far. Thankfully.

And I finally have a decent version of PhotoShop on my laptop! Whee!! I'm a little rusty, but I'm sure my skills will pick up again. Not that my skills were all that fantastic to begin with...

And I've yet to figure out how to insert pictures from my Scrapbook onto my client. Hrmmm...

This weekend was fun, if a little short.

The tea/luncheon was very pleasant. We stayed and chatted for several hours and it was very nice. However it did eat up a lot of time, but it was time well spent.

That night, I played some more of my Wii and tried out my new Bleach game. It. Is. Awesome. However, by the end of my session, I felt like my arm was about to fall off. If I was more creative, I'd have drawn a little cartoon of me standing and holding my Wii controller and nunchuck and looking at my right arm on the floor. The caption would read, "Dude, and that was only the training level." Hee!

I didn't fare too badly, despite the fact that I was dueling Renji and he has Zabimaru which can stretch... the dirty (but pretty hot) cheater. I was able to go Bankai (since I was playing as Ichigo) and knock him down several times though.

I was able to catch the Death Note anime. I thought I was pretty decent. I liked the voices of Light and Ryuk. Never having seen the Japanese version, it seemed pretty faithful.*shrugs* I dunno...

Sunday I went to church and afterward I stopped by Best Buy to look for some DVD's. I found the third Hellsing Ultimate, which will probably be the last one unless another company picks up the rights... *grumble* But still... PIP!!! *squee*

Then I stopped by the bookstore to primarily browse, but that hardly ever ends up being the case with me and bookstores... I picked up the latest volume of Vampire Knight (and I'm still rooting for Yuki/Zero even though I do kinda like Kaname). I also got a few magazines and a copy of Anne frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. I read it before in High School and I really liked it and it's one of those books that's a must have.

Later that afternoon, I was gonna watch some DVD's, but I was running out of room in my media cabinet, so I went through some of my old video tapes and got rid of what I didn't need anymore. My MST's and Star Trek however are forbidden from being touched.

I started watching volume two of The Office. My favorite episode thus far has top be the one with the fire drill and where Dwight takes the bottle of water from the top of the water cooler and tosses water in the hallway then proceeds to crawl on his stomach to the exit. HAR!!

Mom spent most of Sunday at the tire place getting her tires changed and then at my aunt's helping her clean for Christmas. Early? For most people, yes. My aunt is the queen of Christmas. She has over half a dozen different trees, each with it's own theme. It's all very lovely, but a lot of work.

It's still not to late to send me your full name and your year of birth for a little gifty thing I'm doing. It works best if I have more people. So far I only have two of you. Let's get on the ball, peoples!!!

And finally, a meme I swiped from [livejournal.com profile] flamika:

The Best Bleach Boyfriend for You
Your Result: Kurosaki Ichigo

You secretly desire a guy who you'll hate on your first date. His impeccable style and general coolness will drive you nuts. Against your better judgment you'll still go out with him even if you do nothing but argue. He'll be aloof and standoffish, but somehow along the way he'll show you his tender side without too many words. Once he falls for you, he will fall hard, so beware. Even when you try to get rid of him, he'll just stalk you to the ends of the earth, beat down on your defenses, and make you his. Be prepared for a lifetime of passion and heroics: it's going to be one wild ride.

OK, it's official now. I'm addicted to Slayers. I watched the 2nd DVD when I said I was gonna wait for the first one to come. At first, it seemed a little goofy, but then as I kept watching, the goofiness grew on me. And man, Lina can pack away the food! Plus, I got to see my boy, Zel in action. *squee* Now, I'm impatient for not only the first disc to arrive, but the 3rd one as well! I also added Slayers NEXT to my Netflix list. That's the next one in the series. Maybe I'll get the third one sometime this week. I returned the MST one when I finished it, so maybe they'll send the other one soon. *crosses fingers* I need my fix, man!!!

On another high note, I got a notice that my TriMax is on it's way!! Whee!!! I should be getting it sometime next week! Oh, the anticipation! As you can plainly see, I'm not a very patient person.

My Slayers and TriMax is coming!!! W00t!!!

Well, I checked out Netflix yesterday. Needless to say, my Slayers DVD's will be arriving any day now. (w00t)
Now, according to Things From Another World, TriMax #1 isn't coming out until the 26th! WHAT!!! Does this mean I have to wait another week?! Forget that!! *grumble* When I go out tomorrow, I'm gonna stop by the bookstore and check and see. If that means I have to go EVERY DAY, I will. *shakes fist in the air* Damn you, Dark Horse! Stop screwing around with me!!!

It looks as if I'll have to find more pictures of Amon. I can't find the ones I thought I saved. *grumble* After all the time it took me to find those other ones!!

I'm going to fix lunch, but before that, I shall once again retreat into that dark place and scream my brains out.

*yawn* I had to get up early this morning so I could take mom to work. She can't drive yet because of her knee. She tells me, "No more staying up until midnight for the next few days." I'm like, "What! And miss my anime? No way!" I'll just take a nap in the afternoon. *shrugs* Friday I went and bought "The Last Unicorn" on DVD. It was the last one on the shelf, too. I was like, "Wow! It's more popular than I thought!" Also, I saw RK in there! At Wal-Mart! It's the last two DVD's though. Filler episodes. But still, I'm all for RK at Wallyworld! Whoo!
I have to call the cable company today and see if they'll extend our payment due date to Friday. I hope they will, because I don't want to lose the cable right when new episodes of InuYasha are coming on Saturday. I'd be extremely annoyed.
I have to go to the bank and get gas today (&$^@^$^$ high gas prices).

Oh, I found an icon of Yoko Kurama. *glomps* Wanna see? Leave a comment. ~_^

Whee! We have a new thread on AS! "As the Anime Character Turns." Cool huh! I'll be shortening it to "ATACT" from now on. Thank you, Cyn! Me and Gren will be settling in nicely. We're in "Babbling" right now, but I'm thinking maybe we should be in "Incoherent Babbling" since a bunch of the stuff we do is role-play-ish and there are rules about that. I don't want us to get deleted!

I can't believe I fell asleep before "JJ pt. 2" came on last night! *sob* I even took a nap in the afternoon so I could stay awake later! Argh! I'll be OK.

Today is laundry day. I know, my life is full of excitement. But, it needs to be done. Mom is still laid up and besides, she doesn't do it right anyway.

Mom went through her surgery OK. She's at my aunt's right now. Of course, when she comes home, she'll not be able to do much. She has to be careful with her knee, and gradually put weight on it. We'll see how my nerves hold out!

Meanwhile, stupid AS locked the "Trigun Discussion Group"! Grrr! I can't believe it! Now how am I going to talk to my friends? They should have moved us to "Babbling" so we could still post. Now, me and Gren are homeless.*sniff*

*Gren holding up sign, "Will play sax for place to live." while Snap sticks out thumb*
Of course, with my "Anime makeover," I think I'll scare people away.

What was up with [adult swim] last night? I mean, they were supposed to show Trigun starting at 1:00AM and yet, they showed Big O instead. Why?! Generally I go to bed after Inu Yasha but last night I stayed up later to watch Trigun and then Cowboy Bebop which was a favorite episode of mine, "Ballad of Fallen Angels." Imagine my surprise (and disappointment)to find Big O instead. I mean, it's an OK show, but I don't want to see it in place of another one. Now, I realize that there are human beings behind the programming at major stations and everything and that mistakes will get made, but c'mon! On top of everything else, I had trouble sleeping last night. *sigh* I only hope the problem will be corrected tonight. Believe me, there are enough people complaining already about the goof, imagine if it happened two nights in a row! Sheesh! Now, I'm going to go fix some Easter brownies for my Bible Study group tonight. Yummers!

Well, today is the first Friday in April. Feels like any other Friday, really.

AS has earned my forgiveness. They replayed the episodes they "mustached" again last night. I'm glad, because the episode of IY was one of my favorites. Kagome totally kicked Naraku's ass. *whoo* And I got to see Amon in all his clean shaven glory. *sigh* I loved it when he landed in front of that one guy all casual like. Amon also kicks ass! The captioning on IY was a little off though. They spelled Kirara's name wrong when they spelled it correctly all the other times. Huh.

Last night's episode of CSI was strange, too. Especially the ending. I mean, it just ended. Bam! like that. I was like, "WHAT?!" There was no resolution. I mean, I understand that cases don't always get solved, but this was totally different. It just ended and there were so many questions. Like, "Did Martin ever find out about his dad? What all did Walter's sister have to do with what happened? Why was Walter all bizarro?" I need answers, dammit!!

OK, everything is back to normal now. All in all it wasn't bad having the girls stay here. My bathroom was in a bit of disarray, though. Now, I can handle a bit of disarray now and then, but this was my bathroom. My Bathroom!!! I guess it's a bit of a sanctuary. I mean even more so than my room. At least I get no interruptions in there! There were wet towels, shampoo residue in the shower, toothpaste in the sink!!!!! I felt like crying! *sigh* I'm OK, though. I picked up stuff and straightened everything up. Washed down the shower. I can relax, again! I like having company, I just don't like them using my bathroom. Weird, isn't it? If I'm not careful, I'll turn into Monk. Scary!

On top of that, I had to get up early. Horror! That has to be a crime against humanity. Of course, I stayed up late to watch WHR and InuYasha. People'd be like, "Just don't stay up late to watch TV." That's be like cutting off a limb! Maime me, just don't take away my anime!!
