I'm almost finished with my first week of Grad School, and other than a few anxious moments, things are going pretty well so far. I just wish that authors wouldn't write such dry textbooks though. Getting through them can be a real chore. I also wish I'd get the one textbook I'm still missing soon. I ordered it from Amazon originally like I did with all of my other ones, except they said they had no idea when I'd be getting it. Then I looked on Barnes and Noble.com and they had it and said it'd be shipped to me sometime this week. I'm still waiting. Hopefully I can get it before the assignment I need from it is due. I did email my instructor and explained the situation to her, so she's aware of it at least.

The GA position is going pretty good as well. I like the professor I work for and she's easy to get a long with and she explains what she needs pretty clearly so I know exactly what I need to do. I'm supposed to be farmed out to some of the other offices sometime, but I don't know when or anything, so I'm playing it by ear right now. I've had to leave early almost the entire time I've been working for some reason or another. Friday I was done early, so I could leave. Monday was no school, yesterday I had some issues with my HR paperwork and I had to get that taken care of within a certain time frame and today I had to leave so I could pick up mom from work sine she was sick. I was able to finish all of my tasks though, but I'm supposed to be there for four hours and I haven't made it that long as of yet. Hopefully from now on I can...

We got some snowfall lately. Not as much as some places, but it still made driving pretty interesting, I gotta say. No close calls thus far!

I did some shopping this past weekend and got some new underwear, which I desperately needed. I got fitted for new bras too and apparently I grew a cup size. Who knew! Only now, the bras I got tend to poke me and it's pretty uncomfortable. Such is the life of a woman, I guess. Maybe I can find something that gives the support without the poky bits.

Aside from everything I just mentioned, not much is going on. Watched the first episode of the third season of Sherlock last weekend and I loved it! Had a few laugh out loud moments here and there, which I loved. I live tweeted a little while watching as well. Looking forward to next Sunday when the second episode airs. I also got a few new books after a long dry spell. I was very restrained when it came to book buying, for which I'm immensely proud since I tend to go a little over board when it comes to book buying. The books I got were Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children Graphic Novel. I really liked it. I think the recently released sequel will eventually get a graphic novel format as well based on the preview at the end. I also got the fourth volume of the color version of Scott Pilgrim. Trust me, there are several more books on my wish list I want to read.

Well, I'm getting a little hungry and a little sleepy, so I might fix me some lunch and then lie down for a little bit since I finished my studies for the day.

I hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving (those of you who celebrate with the rest of America. You Canadians had yours already).

I did. It was smaller than usual since a few family members were missing. One due to having to work and others due to illness. I think Christmas will have most of everyone back.

We went to my aunt's like we usually do and the food was good as always. Whenever we move to Tennessee (which, like I mentioned before, I hope to be next year at the least), I shall definitely miss the food and company, but maybe we can have our own traditions.

I was planning on putting up my small purple fiber optic tree in my bedroom this weekend, but I never got around to it. Mostly I was distracted by our new kitty! She's mostly for mom since our established cat, Moon, is glued to me most of the time. She said she wanted an older cat (not a kitten), female and that would get along well with other cats.

She called a lady who does cat rescues and fostering and she had the perfect cat! She's a three year old tortie and she's very quiet and gentle. She does have her front claws and so we have to make sure she uses her scratching post and not the couch. But she's spayed and had all of her shots and flea treatments.

Her name was originally Angel, but mom didn't like that name so she's renamed her Tor-T. My mom has a thing for unusual names. I myself was leaning more toward Tortle, but it is what it is.

So far, her and Moon have been guarded toward each other, but Tor-T seems to be making herself at home, so that's good. I told Moon that she can't keep hiding out in my room, so when we leave for work tomorrow, mom and I are cutting off all hiding places so that they'll be pretty much forced to be in the same room together. It may take time, but I think eventually they'll mellow toward each other.

Yesterday, mom and I went to the beach to take some pictures since the waves were numerous over the weekend. We got a couple of good shots of the waves rolling in, as well as a few of some surfers taking advantage of the opportunity.

I will say, that when we do move away from here, I will probably miss a few things about Florida, like the sound of the ocean and walking along the shore, but I think the mountains of Tennessee would more than make up for it!

In fandom related news, we went to the bookstore yesterday, and naturally I had to buy stuff. I bought the December issue of Vogue since it had an interview with Anne Hathaway and some pictures from Les Miz that I wanted. I also got a collectors issue of Star Wars Insider as well as a film magazine about The Hobbit. I got two volumes of manga Sailor Moon Volume 8 and Bakuman. Volume 16. I was also able to find the first two volumes of the color version of Scott Pilgrim, so that was a nice find to say the least. Thank God for Membership cards!

I saw Rise of the Guardians earlier today and I must say, it was well worth the hype. I have a feeling it's going on my 'Must Have' DVD list. And I will say I think Jack Frost is a cutie, but even though Chris Pine is pretty awesome, he doesn't sound like an 18 year old...

I've been rereading the High School Debut series and I almost forgot what a cute series it is. I think, even though I just finished rereading it, I may read it again I love it that much. I might read a few other things in between, like the stuff I just bought as well as another series I've been wanting to reread called Beauty Is The Beast.

And another reminder that I need your address for Christmas Cards. I'll be ordering them soon, so I want to get a count of how many I'll need, so be sure to reply to this post so that I can have your info. Even if you don't plan on sending out any cards yourself this year, I'd still like to send you one so I'd like your addresses. :D

Sorry I've been so sporadic with my posting on here. My depression sometimes tells me why I even bother since hardly anyone reads it, but I know a few of you still do, so I appreciate it.

Health wise things seem to be getting better. I still have a few problem areas, but otherwise I'm doing good overall. Maybe now that we're getting into fall, things will get even better. I do know there are those out there who have it worse than I do, so I guess I'm appreciative for that at least.

Things at work are actually pretty good. I think it's partially because I'm working on changing my overall attitude to try and become a better person. I don't want to be the kind of person who holds onto all of the petty crap and bitterness that happened in the past. It does nothing but hold you back keeping you from moving forward with your life. It won't always be easy, but it's worth it to try.

I also think it helps with the fact that my co-worker that had the most issues with everything is no longer there and not feeding into the situation. I still keep in contact with her and we're still friends and all and I value that friendship, but she's a bit anti-social and misanthropic. So since she's not at work anymore, it helps to stay focused on other stuff and not get dragged down by the little unimportant things.

There's still heavy talk of a buyout, but some of us had a meeting with our supervisor last week and the subject was addressed. It seems for the most part that our department will most likely stay intact. My boss reasons that since we have the more advanced computer system, that it would be foolish to get rid of people who have been using it for awhile and are familiar with it. And since we'll be implementing a new data entry system (which will take a few years to be fully operational) that we'd still be needed. Now, granted this is all guessing, but it still gives me some relief to say the least.

Mom and I are prepping for our vacation in three weeks. I'm so excited! We're going to be in Tennessee and see the fall colors and the beautiful mountains and the crisp air. It's gonna be very hard for me to go back. Especially since more friends of ours moved up there this weekend. I keep hoping and praying that the opportunity will arise for us to make the move up there once and for all. Hopefully...

I finished my reread of Furuba yesterday. I still get the warm fuzzies when I read the last chapter. I have such affection for this series as well as the friends I met through it that it makes me smile every time. I may reread my Ouran series next, even though I'm missing the first ten books. I hope to be able to acquire them at some point in time. Either that or High School Debut, another shoujo series that I find cute and charming. I haven't made up my mind yet.

Well, happy fall everyone! Enjoy the changing of the leaves, the cooler air, pumpkin flavored everything and the coming holidays!

Well, I'm still having some health issues. this has been a really crappy summer thus far healthwise.

I saw the Endocrinologist last week. He was very personable and helpful. He did a physical exam and said things looked good in that regard, but the elevated THS could be a result of a chemical imbalance in the brain and had me do some blood work. I haven't heard the results yet.

I still have some infections that I'm dealing with, but to my continued annoyance. It's not nearly as bad as it was, but I'd still like things to be back to they way it was before this whole adventure. I no longer have the rash, but I'm still dealing with dry skin. And now the dermatitis on my face has returned with a vengeance and now I feel like a lizard. I might as well put a bag on my head and be done with it all.

We're going to be leaving for vacation in a couple of weeks and I highly excited about it. We're off to Tennessee and I know it'll be fabulous! I love the area and am looking forward to the fall colors and cooler weather. Mom and I still have some stuff to do before we leave, so we're working on that.

People at work seem to be jumping ship left and right. We lost three people that I know of just in the past few weeks. I don't know if they're leaving due to the buy out or not. I know we'll be downsized, so that might be part of the reason people are leaving, but as for me I'm not going anywhere mostly because I have nowhere to go. I am worried that I might lose my job and what I'd do if that happens, but I'm not gonna stress out about it until I know for sure.

I've recently been rereading my Furuba manga. It takes me back so much. I rewatched the anime as well, but nothing compares to the original manga. I almost forgot how much I adore this series. Through it I've made so many of my friends that I still have, so it'll always be special to me.
snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Default)
Hey everyone! I decided to be a wee bit ambitious and start a new blog about introducing manga and anime to people who may not know what it is.

My mom was the one who came up with the idea, so I thought I'd try my hand at trying to explaining things to people (like my mom) who may not know anything about all these books I keep reading.

So, I hope you guys might drop by and give it a looksee and let me know what you think!

My mom came up with the suggestion that I start a blog about anime, manga and graphic novels in a way that people who don't know what any of that is, can learn about it and understand what it is. And I must say, the idea is very intriguing and possibly has some merit.

Now, I don't know what will come of this, but she says I need to do something that I feel passionate about and I do really enjoy reading manga and graphic novels and watching anime. However, it does feel a little daunting. I mean, I need to find my niche somewhere that others who have more experience haven't already done.

I mean, there are a few people out there who already do blogs and sites regarding manga and anime and graphic novels and have already been well established up to this point. So I'd like to focus on maybe coming from a viewpoint of someone who doesn't know anything about them, like my mom.

My first and main issue is trying to find a hosting site. I already have a WordPress blog for my Alice and Jasper blog and I have a Blogger one that I rarely use, but unless I can change the name of it, I don't think I can use it either.

So, any kind of suggestions/comments/words of advice/encouragement in regards to this somewhat daunting project would be appreciated. I ask you guys because I met the majority of you through manga and anime, so it is to you I cleave to right now.
