Tonight is a new season of Lost!! Don't forget to tune in! Right, [livejournal.com profile] kawaiiayu? ^__^

And I swear I saw someone who could've been you twin driving behind me on my way home from work on Tuesday, [livejournal.com profile] secondlina. Same hairstyle, glasses, facial features. I almost had to do a double take...

Due to an inordinate amount of people trying to watch the Inauguration yesterday at work, The Big Cheese sent out an e-mail kindly informing us that yes, Big Brother is STILL watching us and that they're going to be even MORE diligent. Joy. Seeing as how I surf the internet all the time at work (not while I'm working, obviously. Just at lunch and at the end of the day when I'm finished in order to pass the time), this could be a little tricky for me. But, since I don't go to porn sites, gambling sites, streaming videos, download a bunch of crap and all that, I think I'll be pretty OK. I'm not going to flagrantly wave it around announcing it to the world, but I'm not gonna COMPLETELY stop either. FIGHT THE SYSTEM!

Mom had the car today since she had to go to Indiatlantic for work today. It's across the river toward the beach, which is just a few miles away from our regular job sites. So I came into work early and left late since my car still is on the fritz. Mom tried working on it yesterday with this leak sealer stuff, but it didn't work. DDDD: I have to drop her off there on Friday and then pick her up. I hope I don't get lost due to my horrid sense of direction.

Mom's sink that was plugged up (due to the stopper not working properly) was fixed today as well as the leak, but it wasn't fixed... properly. Now the water comes out of the faucet sideways. Mom was pissed. "This was why I wanted to be here when they fixed it!!! These dipshits have NO IDEA what they're doing!!!!"

Well, I need to go and take my shower so I can get settled in for "Lostenday" hosted by [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda. Ciao!

I went to see my cousin in the hospital today after work. She has a congenital heart defect and she had to have a defibrillator installed not long ago. Well, she was with her sisters and it went off a couple of times. So she was taken to the hospital and is waiting for a bed to open up at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. She may need surgery. The exact name of her condition is Idiopathic Hypertrophic Subaortic Stenosis aka Hypertrophic Cardiomyopothy. The thing is, she's only 19 and pretty healthy otherwise. She also has a severe learning disability and isn't in school and unable to work, so she has no insurance to cover the expenses.

I'm doing the laundry and getting ready to pack for this weekend. We're going to see Michael Bublé tomorrow evening in Orlando. We've decided to make a weekend thing out of it. We booked a room and we're going to my old college campus and see what changes have been made since I graduated. I think there's quite a few, actually. Then we're going to the mall and do some shopping. I know we have a mall here, but the ones there are bigger and have more stores to choose from. Plus, I wanna see if the new LOTF book is out yet. I've heard a few people have gotten their mitts on a copy already. *eyes [livejournal.com profile] rurouni_jedi*

I didn't go to the gym today because of the Red Tide. Urgh...

Did anyone watch Lost last night? Whoa!

spoiler cut of spoilerificness )

Well, I have laundry to check on. I'll most likely be bringing my laptop with me, so I'll still be able to keep in touch over the weekend.

Well, here I am, on my bed at the Holiday Inn!!! Wheeee! I'm going global now, baybeh!

Anyhow, last night we went to se PotC 3 (more on that in a bit) and we didn't get home until about 2 in the morning, which was kinda weird. Plus, it was on a "work night" so I felt like a bit of a rebel there!

We started off today a bit later than we had anticipated. Instead of arriving about 1:00, we got here closer to 3:00. Traffic was a major factor in this. But the garden where the wedding is being held is absolutely beautiful! I can see why weddings are held there. I'd want to get married there. I'm playing the CD with the music and the sound system is in the garden shed, which is off to the side of where the ceremony is being held. So mom and I are on walkie-talkies and we're gonna signal each other so that I can come out to see the ceremony itself.

Saturday afternoon and Sunday we're going to Busch Gardens, so that'll be fun. I kinda wish I had someone to ride the roller coasters with since mom dislikes them. It's more fun to ride them with someone. Not gonna stop me from doin' it though.

Day Two of scanning. All is going well. I seem to be keeping up with the demands so far. *crosses fingers* And boy, was I mighty comfy in my jeans. I need to go this weekend and get some pants so I can have other things to wear during the week.

Onto entertainment news:

Lost )

Veronica Mars )

And I saw a brief summary for Furuba 135. A tear-jerker to be sure. But it's nice to see that particular loose end tied up. *siiiigh* The end is nigh.

And I've been perusing my newly acquired raw scans of Kaze Hikaru. Much cuteness involved. Poor Saito, though...

The leftover spaghetti I had for lunch today really hit the spot. Now to decide what to do for supper...

Trivia of the day: The evolution of social life in ants and termites has been accompanied by an extraordinary royal perk -- a 100-fold increase among queen ants in average maximum lifespan, with some queens surviving for almost 30 years. This longevity can be attributed in part to the sheltered and pampered life of the royal egg layer.

Argh! I've spent most of the day yesterday trying to find my Social Security card only to discover it's probably in storage somewhere. Apparently I need it for my W-2 form for my soon-to-be job. Since I've memorized my SSN ever since I was in college and you're not supposed to carry it with you for risk of identity theft, I don't keep track of it (though I probably should). I mean, if it's just the number they need, I can just give it to them, but they probably need it for their records or something. I contacted my former employer via e-mail (and will phone again soon). Hopefully I haven't screwed myself.

And I was able to get my background to show up again. Finally.

*thinks* Well, I think that's about it. Watched Lost last night. Was bewildered through most of it. It has the tendency to do that to me.

Trivia of the day: In Breton, Alabama, there is a law on the town's books against riding down the street in a motorboat.<--D'wah?
snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Kenshin and Enishi faceoff (elevenses))
I swear, Sawyer has some of the best lines on that show.

Don't ask me to try and form any coherent thoughts about last night's 'Lost' finale. So much happened and there are still so many questions hanging in the air. I'll just say it was intense and leave it at that.

The labyrinth has expanded quite a lot. Hopefully today I can get some of it cleared away. I'd like to be able to have somewhat of a path to my bed at any rate.

I stayed up until almost 2:00 last night. I don't remember the last time I stayed up so late. Of course, I didn't have to take mom to work this morning, so that helped. I slept in until almost 9:30. I didn't get very far into my FL last night, so I'm gonna stay online a bit longer so I can make up for it if I can.

I found the things I needed in order to put my cart together, so I'm gonna do that today and then put the stuff on it I need to so I can get rid of those boxes.

Mom said that we may go to the movies Monday since she's got the day off from work due to Memorial Day. I want to see 'Over the Hedge.'

I ventured to the bookstore yesterday and picked up copies of RK 27 (only one more volume left), NANA 3, Hot Gimmick 11 and I finally picked up the sixth 'Slayers' novel. So I did pretty good.

[livejournal.com profile] umadoshi and [livejournal.com profile] kawaiiayu, in case I don't hear from you before you guys leave for Toronto, I just want to wish you a safe trip. And have fun!!

Trivia of the day: In 648 B.C., horses were first introduced into sports with the entrance of riders in the Olympic Games. By the sixth century B.C., horse-racing had become a popular sport.
snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Ryoki and Hatsumi (selenphobia))
Usually I don't talk about fandom stuff until the last, but I got to thinking about this recently. [livejournal.com profile] flamika has said she was rereading volumes 1-7 and she was making observations on what she's read so far. Now, she's a Shinogu fan (nothing wrong with that, I happen to like him myself), whereas I'm a Ryoki fan. Now a lot of people don't like Ryoki. It's perfectly understandable since when we first meet him, he's a major jerk. However, as you go through the series, you discover many different layers to him and more on his backgroud and to why he is the way he is and the way he changes over the course of the series.

For instance, a lot of readers seem to want Hatsumi to end up with Shinogu. I can understand why, He's a really sweet guy whereas Ryoki just seems to be an asshole. But the thing with Shinogu is, he wants to do so much for Hatsumi. Almost too much. In doing so, he'd prevent her in many ways from being able to do things for herself. He wants to protect and shelter her and while that can be good, too much can be detrimental, especially to someone like Hatsumi. Ryoki almost forces her to actively think for herself and learn to eventually stand up for herself and the decisions she makes.

People always say that Ryoki doesn't treat Hatsumi like he should. While that's true, the thing is... he doesn't know how to. I mean, look at his family life. His father is absent the majority of the time and has actually told him that he doesn't care for him as much as he does someone else. His mother smothers him and only cares about his grades and the status they give him (and her by association). So he hasn't had a lot of examples to live by. He's said he doesn't care about his parents mostly because they really don't care about him. So it baffles him as to why Hatsumi cares so much about hers. She's had a good family life, especially in comparison to Ryoki. Ryoki's family may be rich and important, but they don't care about each other. Hatsumi's family (while working class) actually care about and love each other. Through his relationship with Hatsumi, he begins to actually care about someone. Hell, even love someone. This is a foreign feeling for him and he doesn't know how to handle it. So he reacts the only way he knows how. However, we do se an eventual softening of him. I mean, it's not instantanious. It happens gradually and for the most part, Ryoki is who he is. But the change is there.

Sorry about the rambling. I guess I sometimes feel the need to defend Ryoki sometimes. Especially since most people tend to not look beyond the surface. And hello! Psychology student here! Don't even get me started on Azusa...

Anyway...

television blathering under here. mostly lost and the amazing race. )

Yesterday I watched the "Weapons of Class Destruction" episode of 'Veronica Mars.' And I had no idea Jonathan Taylor Thomas was in that episode as the Fed guy! Whoa! And, of course, I saw... The Kiss. And I squeed like the good LoVe fangirl I am.

Today I have to try and put some of my clothes away. I can put away what I can, but I need hangars and stuff for a bunch of stuff and my winter clothes are gonna be stored in one of theose vacuum bags... once we get them. I'm also doing laundry.

I have an idea for a wallpaper actually. Maybe a couple. I think 'Star Wars' and possibly MARS. Hmmmm, I'll have to see how my creative juices are flowing...

Trivia of the day: The first U.S. patent for an animal was issued to geneticists at Harvard University in 1988. The animal--called an oncomouse--is a genetically engineered mouse that is highly susceptible to breast cancer.

Man, I feel like I've been sucker punched. I just read the next to the final chapter of SDK (306) and boy was it a doozy. Now I'm even more curious as to what the next and final chapter is going to be about. I hope I get to see it before I have to pack my computer up for a brief time.

Speaking of sucker punches on Lost )

The cable is being officially turned off on Saturday, which is fine since that's when we're "officially" moving out. She did say that the electricity, water and sewage would still be left on until she comes back to finish things up on the 18th. So, Friday will officially be my last day online for a good while. I'm also going to call the temp agency to see what's going on and stuff.

I have some more computer stuff to do. Like I want to burn some of my image files as well as some of the various manga chapters I have sitting on Snoopy, so in case something happens during the move, I won't go into a conniption if something were to happen.

I also did some admin stuff on ATACT since I won't be on for awhile after Friday and I kinda wanted to get it done with before that. Just a poll and a few other things. I'm also considering asking Emi if she'd like to mod some as well. I mean, Stampers is good with the story stuff and Emi is good with keeping people in line, so that way it can be more balanced out. Besides, I trust Emi. She has a good head on her shoulders.

We moved more stuff into storage last night. Mostly clothes and stuff that we won't be needing for about a week. Our storage unit is getting a little full, though. I also need to change my address for things like Netflix and Amazon and whatnot. Man, moving is a big chore, isn't it? I hope I don't have to do it again for a loooong time.

Trivia of the day: Antarctica is 98% ice, 2% barren rock. The average thickness of the ice sheet is 7,200 feet; this amounts to 90% of all the ice and 70% of all the fresh water in the world. If the ice cap were to melt, the sea level would rise by an average of 230 feet.

Mom's home today because she took a few days off to spend with my aunt from up North. I may have mentioned this on yesterday's post, I don't remember. Anyway, she has to leave in a few hours because she's going with my other aunt and my grandmother to pick her up. I also have to remember to upload the images I have on my camera so I can have a clear memory stick for while she's down here.

I want to try and find some of my old posts from CLASP and save more of them on disks. I've been doing it periodically and I need to remember where I last left off. I also need to go to the ones I have on disk and edit some of those in the dialogue colors I use. I do it that way to differentiate between the speakers. I also need to work more on my Pip/Seras story. I think I may have the basic premise down, now I just need to write it out. If I ever land the role of Arisa, I hope my muse doesn't become so fickle on me.

I also need to watch the episode of 'Veronica Mars' I taped last night. I was busy watching 'Lost.' Speaking of which, I feel so bad for Charlie, losing the trust of the girl he has a crush on... It was never mentioned if a new episode was going to be on next week or not. The previews just said, "Coming up on 'Lost' " so that kind of leaves it ambiguous.

I'm going to try not to get scared off by the DAP because I want to download some MST3K episodes, but I'm not 100% sure on how to do it. I guess I'm a bit of a techni-phobe.

I got the newest issue of 'Shojo Beat' yesterday and read it. I'm not gonna do summaries at the moment because I'm too lazy. Probably later on...

And my subject line quote for today, as was yesterday, comes from 'Everwood.' A show I wish would return instead of 'Beauty and the Geek.'

Trivia of the day: Teddy Roosevelt found his favorite dog, Skip, wandering around the Grand Canyon. While Roosevelt had many dogs, Skip was the only one permitted to sleep in the presidential bed.

Well, I was able to get the information I need for my taxes, so that's a huge weight off my shoulders, at least at this point. I still have to actually pay them now. I was able to find a free trial version of the Money program I needed. I don't need it permanantly, so the trial is good.

[livejournal.com profile] flamika, I got your necklace yesterday! I love it! Thank you! Expect a letter to come your way soon... as soon as I figure out where I stashed my address book. I'll probably send it to your school address, OK? My mom saw it (the necklace) and asked where I bought it.

Me: "I didn't buy it. A friend sent it to me."
Mom: "Which friend?"
Me: "One of my online friends."
Mom: "Which one?"
Me: "[[livejournal.com profile] flamika's real name]"
Mom: "Oh. OK. Which one sent you the tea set?"
Me: "No one. I bought that myself when I went to EPCOT."
Mom: "Oh, I remember now."

I felt like I was under the Spanish Inquisition or something. But I made it through unscathed. I guess she thinks I'll be kidnapped or something. She still doesn't know I went to meet [livejournal.com profile] toriru4ever and [livejournal.com profile] vanatom last year.

I have to take grandma to her volunteering thing at the nursing home. Then I have to buy a few groceries. Mostly chocolatey stuff. I'm really in the mood for chocolate. I think The Red Tide is on its way.

I watched 'Lost' last night and found out about Mr. Eko. Man, does he have a lot of guilt. I do admit to nearly crying close to the end, though. I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I need to put my sheets in the dryer, so I'm wrapping things up. Ciao.

Trivia of the day: Newly elected John F. Kennedy gave each his aides a PT-109 tie clasp, which became the highest status symbol of the New Frontier. Cufflinks and tie clasps are usually chosen as gifts by gubernatorial winners because of their high visibility when in public.
