We got the car fixed!! Thanks to a dear friend who came over and took care of it for us. Granted he had to go by a YouTube tutorial, but it worked and now we can drive once again! I still need to get a newer car at some point, especially once I start working. But, that's a ways away yet, so I'm not gonna fixate on it right now...

I think I need a fundamentalist detox. Some of the people I went to church with down in Florida, while overall pretty decent people, they are still so very narrow-minded about so many things. Someone posted about Target making their bathrooms gender neutral for people who are trans, and there was a big uproar about it! Mostly from dude-bros with hunting rifles who threaten to 'hurt anyone with a penis who dares share a bathroom with my fragile wives and daughters!' Mostly they were talking about the guys who want to abuse the system by 'claiming' to be trans men (while looking decidedly like cis men) and raping and fondling women. There was definite trans misogyny going on. I was very polite with my response, saying that all anyone who is trans wants to do is use the bathroom in peace, like everyone else. Naturally this was when the trolls came out. Saying, 'If God gave you a penis, then you were meant to have a penis!' I had to stop receiving notifications after that or else I would've let my emotions get the better of me.

I did make it a point to post on my own page, that the likelihood of those who molest women and children are straight, cisgender males, not anyone from the LGBTQA community. This is 2016, people! Stop living in the dark ages! And this isn't helped any by the Trump campaign, which does nothing but get people riled up and start regressing backwards. Is it any wonder people are afraid and worried?

Additionally, we found out today that Prince passed away at only 57 years old. This hasn't been a very good year for celebrity deaths. Why can't Death take less likable people? I shouldn't say that, though...

You know, I can withstand quite a lot of things without getting pissed off. Make fun of me? OK. It hurts a little, but I eventually shake it off. But there are a few things that just make me really angry and pissed.

Now, I’m not referring to things being done to others. I mean, I do get upset and angry if I think something is being done to someone I know or an animal. I’m talking about things directed at me more or less.

First thing, don’t mock me. Now, some of you probably aren’t aware that I was attacked by a large dog when I was seven, leaving scars on my neck and permanent hoarseness. The most commentary I get about it is that I must have a sore throat. I’m fine with people thinking that. Besides, I’m not going to go into the whole story with a random person I come across. If I become friends with you and you ask politely, I’ll more than likely tell you what happened. No big deal. I’m a big girl.
HOWEVER, don’t stand there and try to imitate my voice. I know sometimes people do it because they think they’re being clever, or cute. It’s not. It’s mocking me.

Granted, it hasn’t happened too often. In general, people are a tad more sensitive than that. But it has happened. Once in front of my dad. He was pretty pissed off about it too. Mostly because he noticed that it bothered me. I was at my step-sister’s wedding and I was in charge of the sign in book. I asked people if they would please sign the register. Simple, right? One of the guests came and mimicked my voice back to me after I asked them to sign the register. Now my dad was standing next to me when it happened because he was talking to me for a little while beforehand and he could tell it bothered me when said guest did that. It bothered him that I was upset.

Now, I will have to say that once the story of what happened was revealed, I did later on get a note of apology and I was fine with that. But, bottom line. DO NOT MOCK ME!

Finally, don’t treat me like I’m stupid. That’s what bringing on this particular post. I received an email at work indicating an error I had done with one of my postings. I had accidentally posted an incorrect amount of units for an injection, which was apparently less than what it was supposed to be.

For one thing, the amount I posted was what was on the charge slip, but that’s another matter altogether. The sender of said email goes into this spiel about how the charges now have to be resubmitted to the insurance company (which is Medicare, which is a pain in the ass to deal with) to try and get back the proper payment amount for the proper amount of units.

I sent back an apology saying that I was sorry for the mistake and I’ll try not to repeat it the next time. I mean, when I make a mistake, I own up to it. I’m a human being and prone to mistakes now and then, like we all are.

Then she goes and says, “I hope we get the additional money. :-(”

I was fine until that last part. The way she worded it (and the frowny face at the end), makes her sound extremely condescending to me. It’s not like I did the errors deliberately! And to make it seem like if we aren’t reimbursed, it’s my own personal fault. It’s a good thing I vented to Twitter, or else I would’ve come extremely close to telling this lady off. >:[

Sorry for the long post, but I needed to exasperate somewhere that was longer than 140 characters. I mean, I am not stupid. I do have a learning disability that makes it harder to process things right away and sometimes I need detail explanations, but don’t treat me like an idiot. And none of that cutesy nice stuff either.

Now, I have something I need to get off of my chest, and I hope I don’t hurt anyone’s feelings or sensibilities, and if I do, I’m sorry but this is how I feel.

I found out recently that there is going to be a remake of the series ‘Thundercats’ which was one of the many cartoons I grew up watching and loving as a kid. There are also remakes of ‘My Little Pony’ and one of ‘Voltron’ in the works.

DEAR GOD WHY?!?!?!?!

Well, I’ll tell you why.

Merchandising.

All of these shows had massive amounts of toys and tie in merch when they originally aired. I should know, I’ve had a few of the toys myself. I have no issue with having merchandise with popular series. However, too many studios are making shows purely for the merchandising factor.

It makes sense because it’s a major money maker. Look at the shit tons of merchandise you can find for the Star Wars series. It’s made Lucasfilm a huuuuge chunk of change in the ensuing years. Sure, there have been some cool and rare collectables over the years. I am not opposed to merchandising. I am opposed to making a show for the sole purpose of cashing in on the merchandising.

And let’s face it, that’s why the majority of these remakes are being done. I mean, why else? There is nothing wrong with the original series as they stand. Sure, some of them have aged a bit… some more than others… but that’s what adds to the charm.
Granted, I may be a little biased since we’re talking about shows I loved (and still love) as a child. Growing up as an only child in a single parent household, I had to entertain myself somehow and the cartoons I watched after school and on Saturdays was a big part of that for me.

Plus, I am someone who hates remakes. Especially unnecessary ones (which, TBH, a majority of remakes are). I think the originals should stand on their own.

Start thinking out of the box, people. What happened to originality?

If they decide to remake ‘Jem’ as a Hannah Montana clone, I will officially give up on humanity as a whole…

OK, I’m starting to get a little pissed off here.

For those of you who are new here, I work at a medical firm in the Patient Financial Services department doing data entry. Basically I take the charge sheets (that the doctor writes the diagnosis, the level of the office visit and whatever in office procedures the patient might have had for that particular visit). I also post the co pays for that day onto the office visit for that particular patient. Are you with me so far?

OK then. Most of the time, it goes pretty smoothly. It’s a little mundane at times, but it’s fairly stress free (as opposed to posting insurance payments. I HATED doing that). There are times, however, where things don’t go as smoothly as they’re supposed to. Certain offices (because I post for more than one specialty) tend to make things harder for me than they need to be.

Like for instance, the ENT office I post for has a tendency to not include the charge slips along with the payments sheets with the payments for those charges on them. So I have nothing to post the co pays to, like an office visit. I look and see that that particular patient has seen the doctor, yet I don’t receive the charge slip for the office visit for said doctor on that particular day. However, I do get a payment sheet with the co pay that they paid for that office visit. So, to simplify, I get a payment to post, with nothing to post it to.

This means that I have to put a balance forward onto that person’s account for that particular doctor for that particular day so I can have SOMETHING to attach the co payment that they paid to, since I don’t get the charge to post. It’s important that I do this, so that the log sheet I post from, can match with the amount of money that was collected that day.

The really frustrating thing, aside from this being time consuming, is that this happens FREQUENTLY with this particular office. It’s like they take the payments, yet forget to send me the charge slips so that I can post the payments to them. It drives. Me. Crazy. There have been times, when I posted a payment log which were nothing but balance forwards that I had to do. Is it really that hard to ensure that ALL the charges get sent?! I don’t think so!!!

Then there are other times where the person who fills out the payment log sheet doesn’t put the correct patient number in or they put the name of the person who paid (like say an underage patient’s guardian or parent) instead of the actual person who was seen, which means I have to try and search for the right name and patient number so I can post the payment to the right account.

BLARGH!!!

Sorry for the ranting and all. I just had to vent somehow and short of taking an Uzi to people, this seemed the best way to do it…

You know I try not to be topical on here. Mostly because I want to avoid the firestorm that usually comes from that sort of thing, but I feel this time I have to say something. If not to air my frustrations and disgust, but to sort of defend some things.

I saw on the news this morning about how far the protests against the Islamic Cultural Center being proposed near Ground Zero have gotten. Regardless of if you feel it should be built or not, that’s not the issue at present. What is the issue is how ugly people have gotten about Islam in general. One “Christian” minister even goes as far as to say that he plans on burning copies of the Koran on the anniversary of 9/11. The really stupid thing is how people are blaming the entirety of the Muslim people over the actions of a few radicals. That would be akin to saying that all Christians share the same viewpoint as those Westboro Baptist Church yahoos.

WE DON’T!!

Some have gone as far as vandalizing mosques and harassing Muslims. What has gotten into people!! I know we’re a country of freedom of speech and freedom of expression, but whatever happened to freedom of religion? No wonder there are countries out there who despise Americans.

Given the actions of an obnoxious number of us, I probably would too, I’m ashamed to say. I’m actually afraid of the future of our country now. Why do we feel we are so entitled to pass judgment on others? That’s not for us to decide.

Sorry for the “rant” as it were. I just felt something needed to be said. And this is all I am going to say on this subject.

OK, I want to type this up before I forget and totally wuss out...

I really dislike it when people I don't even know judge me by my reading habits. I had mentioned on Twitter about how I wanted to read Hoshi wa Utau on OneManga before the site got shut down. Someone then comes along and "suggests" I ask one of the English publishers to license it so I wouldn't have to be a "thief." I replied back that I make every effort to support the English releases of the series that I like regardless of where I read them first. They didn't have to get all judgmental and self righteous about it, especially since they know nothing of my reading choices.

Furthermore, I would LOVE one of the English companies to license the series. It would be that much easier to find. Plus, since my friend [personal profile] umadoshi is in the English manga adaptation biz, I want more work to come her way in the near future for as long as possible.

There are a number of series I discovered through this site that I ultimately ended up purchasing the English version wherever I could find it. Even if I read the latest chapters, I still buy the volumes they are later complied in in case I want to reread them... which I often do.

True, the system can and has been abused, but to call me a thief with no justification kinda irks me to no end. I really don't appreciate it.
