snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Sawyer and Roger)
I went to see my cousin in the hospital today after work. She has a congenital heart defect and she had to have a defibrillator installed not long ago. Well, she was with her sisters and it went off a couple of times. So she was taken to the hospital and is waiting for a bed to open up at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. She may need surgery. The exact name of her condition is Idiopathic Hypertrophic Subaortic Stenosis aka Hypertrophic Cardiomyopothy. The thing is, she's only 19 and pretty healthy otherwise. She also has a severe learning disability and isn't in school and unable to work, so she has no insurance to cover the expenses.

I'm doing the laundry and getting ready to pack for this weekend. We're going to see Michael Bublé tomorrow evening in Orlando. We've decided to make a weekend thing out of it. We booked a room and we're going to my old college campus and see what changes have been made since I graduated. I think there's quite a few, actually. Then we're going to the mall and do some shopping. I know we have a mall here, but the ones there are bigger and have more stores to choose from. Plus, I wanna see if the new LOTF book is out yet. I've heard a few people have gotten their mitts on a copy already. *eyes [livejournal.com profile] rurouni_jedi*

I didn't go to the gym today because of the Red Tide. Urgh...

Did anyone watch Lost last night? Whoa!

Well, since we have four of the Oceanic Six (Jack, Hurley, Kate and Sayid) what happened to the other two? And why is the story going around that there were a total of eight crash survivors when we know there were a lot more than that.

Plus, is Aaron counted as one of the six? And what happened to Claire? Did she die? Get left behind? And why can't Jack bear to see Aaron? Is it because he knows what happened to Claire? Or that she's his half-sister?

And what causes jacks mental downfall like we saw at the end of the season last year? Who's the guy in the coffin? How did Ben get off the island? Why were the others left behind?

And is it just me, or is Locke getting more and more Ben-like? He seems pretty demanding and scary last night. Especially when he put the live grenade in Miles' mouth. Yikes!

Well, I have laundry to check on. I'll most likely be bringing my laptop with me, so I'll still be able to keep in touch over the weekend.

Today in History: February 22, 1924
In the United States, Calvin Coolidge became the first president to broadcast from the White House. The speech was broadcast on 42 stations.

Personally, I think Locke is tired of not being taken seriously.

As to the rest...blew me away! I've a feeling that Sawyer never left the island, either. (And I bet they are lying. The plane supposedly sank to the bottom of the ocean according to what the world knows, remember?)

Well, he certainly has a drastic way of making his point.

But was there something preventing the rest of the castaways to be unable to be rescued? I mean, save for a select few, most were eager to leave, like Jin and Sun.

"...no insurance to cover the expenses..." but she is 19 and has no job, shouldn't pay the insurance from her parents?

Yeah, well our health care system has serious problems in it.

This is a major expense and both of her parents (who are separated) don't make enough in order to pay out of pocket. So we're looking into ways to maybe get her some medical financial aide of some sort...

Also, since she isn't in school, she can't be covered by either of their insurances. I went through a similar thing before I found a job and got my own insurance coverage.

I don't know if I more angry or sad.
In the end you must have money to be sane.
egalitarianism = utopia

I know. Health care is the one most important political agendas that need to be addressed...
