snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (L Lives!!)
So this weekend was a pretty full one.

Saturday, mom went with my aunt to a High School Marching Band competition. It was mostly bands from our area, though. My high school got high marks, so that was good to hear. It took them most of the day.

I was out getting my tires realigned, which took an hour and a half for some reason. After I finished with that, I headed over to Best Buy in a fruitless attempt to buy the Bleach box set that's supposedly out. So I decided to get the individual disks instead along with King Kong and Hellboy as well as a few more games for my DS and some guide books. I did this despite the fact that I have no room to put them...

Then I went to the bookstore to "browse" and ostensibly buy another Tori Amos CD so I can get in the mindset for the concert on the 18th. Not a tremendous amount of selection, however. I did buy a magazine and a book on iPods, so it wasn't a complete loss.

Then I swung by the mall to have a look around in the hopes of perhaps buying another pair of work pants. No such luck, however. I did get friendly with a few kittens at the pet store! ^_^

I bought a pair of shoes and had lunch then went home. I played more Wii and got a good workout with the boxing game, actually. And I totally got a knockout! Awesome! I also played more Bleach and then I watched a couple of movies: The most recent live action version of Peter Pan and Night At The Museum. Very cute! I played some Tetris DS a bit too.

Sunday was really busy as well. After church, mom and I went looking for a pair of penny loafers for mom's costume for Wednesday. The theme of her office is the 1950's. We searched almost the whole mall before we found some at JC Penney's. They were men's since women's doesn't have a pair of genuine penny loafers. I also got me some super cute hats while I was there (not at Penney, at another store). I have pictures even!

The rest of Sunday was spent at home, relaxing. I took a nap for longer than I had wanted to. When I do, I generally have trouble sleeping later that evening, and I certainly did. In fact, I'm surprised I'm as alert as I was when I woke up this morning despite the fact that my brain wouldn't shut up.

I saw the second episode of Death Note Saturday. Needless to say, I love L's voice! It's the same actor who portrays Lt. Gaeta on BSG. Neat! And Light is beginning his decent nto madness. Fun fun.

And, despite the fact that the Red Tide decided to make an appearance, it's been pretty mild so far. Thankfully.

And I finally have a decent version of PhotoShop on my laptop! Whee!! I'm a little rusty, but I'm sure my skills will pick up again. Not that my skills were all that fantastic to begin with...

And I've yet to figure out how to insert pictures from my Scrapbook onto my client. Hrmmm...

This weekend was fun, if a little short.

The tea/luncheon was very pleasant. We stayed and chatted for several hours and it was very nice. However it did eat up a lot of time, but it was time well spent.

That night, I played some more of my Wii and tried out my new Bleach game. It. Is. Awesome. However, by the end of my session, I felt like my arm was about to fall off. If I was more creative, I'd have drawn a little cartoon of me standing and holding my Wii controller and nunchuck and looking at my right arm on the floor. The caption would read, "Dude, and that was only the training level." Hee!

I didn't fare too badly, despite the fact that I was dueling Renji and he has Zabimaru which can stretch... the dirty (but pretty hot) cheater. I was able to go Bankai (since I was playing as Ichigo) and knock him down several times though.

I was able to catch the Death Note anime. I thought I was pretty decent. I liked the voices of Light and Ryuk. Never having seen the Japanese version, it seemed pretty faithful.*shrugs* I dunno...

Sunday I went to church and afterward I stopped by Best Buy to look for some DVD's. I found the third Hellsing Ultimate, which will probably be the last one unless another company picks up the rights... *grumble* But still... PIP!!! *squee*

Then I stopped by the bookstore to primarily browse, but that hardly ever ends up being the case with me and bookstores... I picked up the latest volume of Vampire Knight (and I'm still rooting for Yuki/Zero even though I do kinda like Kaname). I also got a few magazines and a copy of Anne frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. I read it before in High School and I really liked it and it's one of those books that's a must have.

Later that afternoon, I was gonna watch some DVD's, but I was running out of room in my media cabinet, so I went through some of my old video tapes and got rid of what I didn't need anymore. My MST's and Star Trek however are forbidden from being touched.

I started watching volume two of The Office. My favorite episode thus far has top be the one with the fire drill and where Dwight takes the bottle of water from the top of the water cooler and tosses water in the hallway then proceeds to crawl on his stomach to the exit. HAR!!

Mom spent most of Sunday at the tire place getting her tires changed and then at my aunt's helping her clean for Christmas. Early? For most people, yes. My aunt is the queen of Christmas. She has over half a dozen different trees, each with it's own theme. It's all very lovely, but a lot of work.

It's still not to late to send me your full name and your year of birth for a little gifty thing I'm doing. It works best if I have more people. So far I only have two of you. Let's get on the ball, peoples!!!

And finally, a meme I swiped from [livejournal.com profile] flamika:

The Best Bleach Boyfriend for You
Your Result: Kurosaki Ichigo

You secretly desire a guy who you'll hate on your first date. His impeccable style and general coolness will drive you nuts. Against your better judgment you'll still go out with him even if you do nothing but argue. He'll be aloof and standoffish, but somehow along the way he'll show you his tender side without too many words. Once he falls for you, he will fall hard, so beware. Even when you try to get rid of him, he'll just stalk you to the ends of the earth, beat down on your defenses, and make you his. Be prepared for a lifetime of passion and heroics: it's going to be one wild ride.

Well, work went pretty smooth today. I didn't do any actual posting though, so that may have been it. I don't start really doing that until next month, so hopefully I'll be able to go somewhat smoothly in that area.

Since I got off at 3:00 today (hey, the girl I share my work area with got off at about 11:30) I stopped by the bookstore. While there I picked up some Sherlock Holmes books and a bunch of fandom stuff. I got Wallflower 12 and Death Note 12, which is the final volume. It technically isn't supposed to be released until next Tuesday, but I guess B&N put it out early. I didn't even think to look for Hellsing 8 which comes out the Fourth.

Tomorrow mom and I are going to try to go to the gym early since there's a surprise birthday party we're attending later in the afternoon.

Have a nice weekend, all!

Whew! Active day today. But, let us start at the beginning, shall we?

Yesterday I found out I'm going to be working in a different building. Starting… tomorrow. I doubt it's due to anything in particular that I've done, they just moved me to where I was needed. At least, that's what I'm telling myself. It's a weee bit further than where I was before, so I need to leave a bit earlier than I usually do. Just about 10 minutes or so, or at least until I can get the hang of my new route. Soooo, no more eating lunches with my mom. I will miss everyone at the other place though. I wish I could've said good-bye to some of them, but it was so sudden, I didn't get the chance. I'm trying not to be too anxious about it, but given my personality, it's pretty much a given. I just hope I can hear something in regards to the Data Entry job.

So this morning, I was timing myself to see how long it takes me to get from home to there. But, given this was around 10:00 this morning, the traffic flow is different, thus the extra time.

Afterwards, I went to the bookstore (which wasn't that much farther), and found Death Note 11, Vampire Knight 2 and Victorian Romance Emma 2 (finally! It was released months ago and I just now found it in the store. Stupid CMX).

After that, I wandered around until I stopped into Old Navy and picked up some of the newer longer shorts and a couple of shirts. I don't generally buy stuff there, not because I don't like the clothes, but the jeans are usually too long for me, but Capri pants are just fine.

After that, I stopped into the Hallmark store, and found a gift for mom for Mother's Day. Then I went into GameStop and browsed their consoles and various games, mentally making a checklist.

Finally, I went into the theater and watched a movie. Meet The Robinsons. In 3D. It was pretty cute! I recommend it.

Then, I went home and mopped up the bathroom floor (mostly to get the pee smell out) and now I must stop by the office to drop off our lease renewal.

And I found out that my copy of Fruits Basket 23 is gonna be delayed. *fumes* But hopefully I'll get vol. 22 and the new fanbook pretty soon…

Well, my shopping excursion crapped out on me. I was looking for a dress to wear to a friend's wedding, and I didn't find anything I liked. Most of the stuff I found had these crazy patterns all over them. That must be "in" now I guess, because I saw stuff like that everywhere I went. All these geometric patterns in loud bright colors. It reminded me of the type of fabric that used to be used to upholster sofas in the '70's. I have nothing against patterns, but I like subtle, understated ones. I don't want to go to someone's wedding looking like a crazy quilt. I have something I could wear that I look nice in and is still stylish, but I just wanted to try to find something fresh and new. I have a nice black dress that I've only worn once to my high school reunion. However, it's bad form to wear black to a wedding. So, while I didn't find anything for the wedding, I bought a new pair of strappy shoes to go with my other ensemble and some shirts at American Eagle and some work shirts at NY&C. I was going to try to get another pair of everyday jeans at The Gap, but I didn't see any there that caught my eye.

This morning I watched some of Batman Begins, which I realized has a lot of British actors in it. For example:

Christian Bale - Welsh
Michael Cain - English
Liam Neeson - Irish
Cillian Murphy - Irish
Gary Oldman - English
Tom Wilkinson - English

Not that I'm complaining, mind you. It was just something that occurred to me is all. And almost all of them (except for Michael Cain) are doing an American accent.

I did find and buy DN 10 even though I have yet to finish reading 7 (which I've put off for a certain reason). I'll finish it eventually and then move on to the others.

And I spent the better half of yesterday cleaning up my hard drive and deleting the files I moved onto my removable hard drive. Maybe I can go through some of the icon posts I saved and download some of them and switch out some of my icons...

I've decided not to go on hiatus. I'm just going to try not to be so anal and feel the need to post everyday. If I post every few days or so, I think I'll be fine, besides it'll give me a chance to build up stuff to post about. And I'll work on not being emo over people not commenting all the time. As long as you still read, I'll be fine.

Yesterday's Bible Study went kind of long. Not due to the lesson, but to a general discussion afterwards. I kinda dozed off and on because it was getting kind of late.

Not much going on today except swinging by the bookstore. It'll be nice to get out of the house some.

I read some of DN 7 last night. I didn't get very far mostly because it was getting late and mostly because I'm dreading what's coming next. I didn't get this far in the scanlations, so certain parts are a bit new to me. I will say this though, Light is an arrogant SOB.

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Just a routine check-up on my Crohn's. It should be OK though since I have a very mild form of it, unlike the son of my mom's friend. He's got a really bad form of it.

Trivia of the day: One way birds learn is by trial and error. Scientists have discovered that many of their learned motor patterns are linked to appetite. For instance, young doves must learn to drink water. The pecking of domestic chicks improves about 30 hours after hatching. They snatch up a grain with increased efficiency. Simple trial-and-error learning is also believed to be very important in birds' nest-building.

Well, here I am, actually able to use my computer in the privacy of my own room. Ahhh, what a wonderful feeling. I still need to get a new desk since the one I had was too big. I want one of those computer armoires. The ones that are vertical instead of horizontal. Saves space that way. At the moment, my monitor is sitting on my TV tray and I have to sit on a stool on the floor since we only had one computer chair and I gave it to mom for her to use. It's interesting to say the least.

The move itself went well. I mean, we have a lot of sifting through things to do since we moved from a three-bedroom house into a two-bedroom apartment. But hey, a roof over one's head is a roof over one's head. A lot of stuff is going to have to go into storage though. I almost have my room put together, but there's still some left to go. I need to seriously organize my closet. I have most of my books on my bookself and I have to put my manga away yet. I have to think about where to put them. At the moment, they're sitting in plastic storage containers on my floor. I'll be taking pictures of the process to post later on.

Mom got frustrated a few times when putting together the futon in her bedroon in order for her to sleep and also when she had to move the washing maching from where it was in the bathroom into the utility closet, hence the title of my journal entry.

I hope everyone is doing well. I can't read all of the entries you all posted while I was gone, since I have a lot of errands to do today. So I have to limit myself to the weekend stuff. If there is anything in particular you want me to read, you'll have to link it to me.

Fandom-wise, I was able to catch the episodes of my different shows, so I'm pretty happy about that. I can't really go into much detail right now since it's quite a lot to go through, but I will say, I was both surprised and happy about the season finale of 'Veronica Mars'. The LoVe shipper in me was very happy...

I was able to see the scans the final chapters of SDK and DN. I liked how SDK ended. I found it to be very satisfying at any rate. I see icons in the future I think... I haven't read the translation for DN yet, so I'm not really decided on it yet.

I've got quite a bit I have to do today. I have to go out and run a few errands as well as try and organize some things in here yet. I won't be able to do them tomarrow since I won't have my car, so it's either today or Wednesday and I'd rather do them today.

Oh, I also learned how to properly crochet from my aunt, and I'm picking it up pretty well. I hope to make a scarf. A real one this time, not the mess I tried before...

Trivia of the day: Bugs hold special places in the hearts of many Japanese, who often keep crickets, beetles and fireflies as pets. Their calls are considered soothing and remind the nature-loving Japanese of a simpler, less hectic age. <-- Yay! Another Japanese trivia!

*sigh* I checked both of my sources and DN 108 and SDK 307 still aren't out yet... *grumble* So I guess I have to wait until who knows when in order to see them. And of course, they're both the final chapters of either series... Does this move come at a bad time, or what?

I went to the vet's to pick up the cats' medical info we need to give the management to the apartments, so that's out of the way. I also went to get the change of address cards so our mail can be forwarded. Now I just need to go online and change my address for things like Amazon and Netflix.

Today I'm basically going to finally go through my computer files and start burning them onto disks. That way, if any glitches occur, I won't have to panic (which I may have mentioned on yesterday's post. I don't remember).

You would not believe the drama going on on my forum just about the color change. I myself could care less about changing the color. The color it's been for the past year or so has been perfectly fine. A little bland maybe, but nothing glaring or anything. But a few people kept bitching about it (one in particualar) so in order to shut them up, I asked people to contribute skin samples to be voted on. Well, we only got two entrants and so I set up a poll. Someone else on there said we should match the colors to the banner I had made. I for one, don't agree to this simply because I didn't make the banner to match anything. I just made it to be a banner telling who were are. Simple, eh? Well, then a big brouhaha went on about how the colors someone suggested were simply horrid and that we should stick with one of the two examples in the poll. I swear, we have a lot of hot heads on there. I myself am pretty much sick of the whole thing. I mean, I already voted for the colors I liked the best. Geez, I mean, you think there's wank on here!! I'm thisclose to changing the colors anyway and saying, "If you don't like it, too bad!" This is what I get for trying to be diplomatic...

Fandom-wise, I really lucked out. I went to B&N yesterday and got a bit of a haul I'm proud to say. RK 26, SDK 18, DN 5, FMA 7 and Beauty is the Beast 3.

In RK 26, we get to meet Sano's dad, and I must say "like father, like son." Now I know why Sano is the way he is (BTW, his little brother is absolutely adorable. "Apple Cheeks" indeed). There's only two more volumes after this, so the series will be concluded in July therabouts. I think the other series Watsuki-sensei had licensed will start in August (good timing, I say). I'm not 100% sure, though.

In SDK 18, Mahiro finally confronts the person responsible for the death of her sister. She doesn't succeed though and only winds up getting herself seriously injured. Kyo steps up though and fights in her place, basically because even though he didn't kill her, he still feels responsible since she died in front of him. And ol' 'Tora was really worried about Mahiro (squuueee). And now I know why Okuni has shorter hair. I had wondered about that. I think it looks good on her, though.

In DN 5, we see nonevil!Raito (or Light. Whatev). I agree with [livejournal.com profile] flamika. I like this version of Light much better than crazypsycho!Light.

Well, that's all for now. I'll be signing off now for awhile. I hope everyone takes care of themselves.

See you on the other side.

Trivia of the day: Designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel introduced her first perfume in 1921. She gave it the name "Chanel No. 5." According to Chanel, she jumped straight to number five because it was her lucky number. To add luck to the fragrance, she introduced it on the fifth day of May, the fifth month. Chanel No. 5 became the world's best selling perfume.

Well, this weekend was a roller coaster of emotions. And though I usually love roller coasters, this one I could've done without. Let me break it up some:

RL:

Friday:

It turns out I wasn't needed to help my aunt after all, so that freed up some of my time. Mom's car still isn't fixed. I think the less said about that, the better.

Saturday:

We went to my grandma's apartment at around nine and started to get things ready to move out. My aunt showed up and them my uncle, who was driving the moving van. We had a few people show up from our church to lend a hand, which was very helpful. We had a steady flow going, so it didn't take us too awful long to get everything loaded. There are a few minor things left, but furniture-wise, everything is out. We stopped by my aunt and uncle's place to unload the dresser they're giving my cousin (their son) as well as some of the plants grandma had. Then we went down the road to where the storage place is. We unloaded the stuff we were keeping, like the loveseat, the twin bead and the washing machine, into our storage unit. We have a little room left yet so we can probably put some of the stuff we have here at the house in it. Then we went over to the one that my aunt and uncle rented for the rest of the stuff. It took some manuvering, but we were able to get the rest of it loaded in there. We have to take it all back out at the end of the month for the garage sale, but since everything needs to be out of the apartment by the 10th, it's at least some place to stash it all until then. That was the majority of the day on Saturday.

Sunday:

Sunday started off OK. But then, toward the end, it kinda went crappy. Church was fine. Better than last week. Then, afterward a mutual friend of ours pulled mom aside to talk to her about something. I wasn't there. I'll get into more detail about that in a moment. Then, we decided that since we didn't get the chance to go the day before, that we'd go do some grocery shopping. No prob. We've done it like a zillion times before. However, for some reason, the traffic on the way to the store was horrible! Bumper to bumper even, I'd never seen it that bad. Then, in the midst of all of this, my car starts to act up. It starts to get overheated. I'm thinking to myself, "Didn't I get this fixed so this sort of thing wouldn't happen anymore?" So after a while (before my panic mode starts in full force), mom tells me to pull over into a service station (which, being Sunday, was closed). I did so, and she opened the hood and my coolant was hot because steam was coming off of it. So we just decided to sit there awhile and let my car cool down some. Luckily for us, the guy who has the service station, came out (I guess he was there doing last minute stuff), and had a look at it. He said the problem was that my engine fan wasn't attached to the drive shaft ('Lost' refrence!!) and wasn't running. He said that something must've come loose at some point. He said that we could still make it to the store if we needed to but to turn the heat up full blast to help cool the engine. So that's what we did. After we finished our shopping, we took the Interstate back to the house (since the higher speed would rush air into the engine). So, that's someting else I need to have looked at at some point. *sighs*

Then, afterwards, I found out what it was that mom had the discussion about. It seems out friend is starting to lose sympathy with us in our housing situation because... I don't have a job. It seems I'm not 'contributing' enough to the household and I should get a job, any job in order to bring money in. Pardon my French, but bullshit! What am I supposed to do, get a low paying dead end job at a fast food place or something just so I can get money?! I'm sorry, but you'd have to kill me first. I mean, it might be perfectly fine for some people, but I do have some standards. I at least want a job befitting my educational level. And I'm not working now because I don't want to, far from it. I do want to get a job, not just for me but so I can help my mom out, but as for the moment, I'm holding off on it because of all the stuff I'm helping with for my grandma's things. I'm an extra set of hands. I mean, not only do we have to clean the apartment, but in the next few weeks or so, we'll need to move all that stuff out and begin to sort it and organize it for the sale. And I contribute to the household in other ways as well. Mom said I need to try and let it go, but it's awfully hard for me to. I know I need to, and maybe over time I will, but as for the moment, I can't. I mean, I feel not only angry and hurt, but slightly insulted as well.

Now that that's off my chest, onto other things:

Fandom:

Furuba: I was actually able to see the scans for 123 yesterday. It took me a bit in order to log into the Taiwan group in order to be able to actually access them, but I was able to do it, so I'm pretty proud of myself. I'll probably write up my initial reaction sometime later...

I may have to hold off on ordering volumes 18 and 19 from YesAsia until later. I'll have to see how things go.

Death Note: Even though I stopped reading after L ____, after recent events, I may just dl the most recent chapter and see things for myself. I mean, I still know the basics of what's been going on (even though a few of the characters are virtually unknown to me).

Hellsing: I was finally able to watch the first episode ofthe OAV on YouTube on Friday. Pretty neat lookin'. Although, I do have to say that bondage!Alucard's hair was actually white, not black and that Anderson sounded like a Japanese Yosemite Sam on occasion, especially during his 'Amen's.' But I actually found that part somewhat amusing, so it's not a big deal.

Today I go over to grandma's to help my aunt clean some, so I don't know how long that will take, actually. Then I have to pick up a perscription. Hopefully my car will hang on until I finish.

Trivia of the day: Evergreens, because of their long life span and their needles' year-round exposure to pollution, are the most vulnerable trees to air pollution.
