Hope everyone had a good weekend, whether it be long or short...

Mom and I went to see Yes Man on Sunday because I was sick of being in the house for the majority of the weekend. It wasn't bad, really. Jim Carry can be a little too manic sometimes, but here he was more subdued.

And it's officially official: Death certificate: Travolta son killed by seizure. While I am truly saddened by their loss, I wonder if this was something that could've been prevented if not for their history of anti-psychiatry which might have been able to treat him properly as well as the fact he possibly had Autism. I guess we won't really know for sure...

Went to the gym today after my GI appointment. So far so good. I just have to ignore the little voice inside my head that tells me to blow it off...

I cried at work today. I rarely let stress get the better of me, but today was one of those days. My supervisor gave me a check that was actually posted in September, but it ended up missing for over a month and I guess they found it or something because she wanted me to post it ASAP. Now, I was right in the middle of posting the regular BCBS check (which is pretty hefty... even if it is just the rejects). I had originally wanted to try and get the majority of it done before the end of Thursday, but that's not gonna happen.

Then I added wrong on my adding machine since I keep a running tally of what I post and compare it to what's been posted so I know if I need to correct something. Turns out I accidentally added two additional payments and that's what threw me off, but by this point I was at my wits ends and that's what pushed me over the edge. *siiiiigh* I know I'm meant for something better than this, but I just don't know what it is...

And, in case you've been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, Barack Obama was elected our 44th President. I had a feeling he would. I should've taken bets. Regardless of who you voted for, this is an historical moment. Dad compared it to when Kennedy was elected. I only hope Obama doesn't suffer the same fate he did...

And Michael Crichton passed away! I saw this on my Yahoo news feed and my jaw almost dropped! It seems he had cancer.

Firstly, a meme I swiped from [livejournal.com profile] shoujo22:

because I have some new friends and I'd like to get to know some of you better... )

In work news, the rest of this week isn't going to be a lot of fun. It's the end of the month coming up and we're feeling a lot of pressure to exceed budget this month since we've been under budget previously (I don't understand the semantics of the whole thing either), and I have yet to do the BCBS that's come in because my boss has been out for the past few days so she can use up her PTO time or else she'll lose it. Anyway, this is only my second week doing it and while I know how to do it and it generally doesn't take a LOT of time, but it does get involved and stuff and I have a somewhat limited time frame. Ugh.

I'm honestly trying NOT to stress out about it with limited success. X___x

In other news, guess who was in our neck of the woods yesterday? Joe Biden, that's who! Here! In MELBOURNE of all places. Go figure...

I received my copy of Runaways yesterday. The storyline is pretty decent. I'm still iffy on the art though. Like why Ramos insists on rendering Chase like a friggin' linebacker!!! Geez, he played lacrosse, not football! Ugh! Just... just NO!

The first commercially-made ballpoint pens went on sale - at Gimbels Department Store in New York City. The pens sold for $12.50 and racked up a tidy profit of $500,000 in the first month.

Well, it's a good thing they were shorthanded at the Post Office today. I had a ton of charges to post that I wouldn't have even been able to LOOK at the BCBS stuff if it had come! Whew!

Anyway, my photo book came that I received from MyPublisher on Friday! I was so excited. I did notice a typo here and there that I failed to catch on my final run through. And here I want to be a copy editor... Other than that, it turned out really great! I had lots of compliments on it. Good thing I'm making a couple more...

Friday was spent helping friends of ours move his dad in from Missouri to the rental he moved into down here. His wife passed on and they wanted him to be closer to them, so an opportunity came that he had a place to live and they grabbed it!

Saturday we went to the wedding of another friend of ours. It was very nice! I took a lot of pictures and I posted them on my Facebook in case anyone wants to take a look. You have to be friends with me on there in order to see them though, but you don't HAVE to friend me just to see the pictures if you don't want to.

After the wedding, mom went to a Halloween party that she'd been invited to. She didn't stay long though because it was kinda of late and we had church the next day, but she said she took lots of pictures (which I have yet to see), so that was nice.

Sunday she went to the performance of the local flute orchestra celebrating it's 25th Anniversary. She said it was really nice and she had gotten a few neat pictures from it! Her first foray into professional photography I might add...

Nothing much has been happening fandom-wise. I've been kind of laying low. There have been a few things released that I want to get my hands on, but I don't want to overdo it, like I have a tendency to do...

And [livejournal.com profile] tenel_ka, I saw this and immediately thought of you:

LOL!!

OK, in all seriousness, y'all if you do (and even if you don't) please pray for Jennifer Hudson. Her mother, brother and now her seven year old nephew were all killed recently. I couldn't even imagine anything like that happening to me, it's just... too horrible to even contemplate...

What is this shit I'm hearing about Terrence Howard not coming back as Rhodey for Iron Man 2?!?!?! He's being replaced by Don Cheadle?!? Now, don't get me wrong, he's an excellent actor, from what I've seen (which, admittedly isn't much. I think it's limited to the Ocean's films), but Terrence was the SHIT in Iron Man!!

I watched the Scream Awards on Spike last night. It focuses on genre stuff, like Sci-Fi, Horror, Fantasy and Comics. Basically a geek's wet dream. While the broadcast was cool, I mostly watched for the new scenes from Watchmen. It was worth the wait...

Work was OK today. I was working on the BCBS reject list today since I'll be doing it for the next few weeks due to the girl who usually does them being out on maternity leave. Most of the time it isn't too bad, but sometimes I come across some payments that are bundled together that I have to try to separate and apply the proper amount to the proper charge. It's headache inducing. This is what I have to look forward to for the next six weeks...

So, Clay Aiken is gay. NEVER saw that coming. All I know is that my cousin will be profoundly disappointed.

It's also been "officially" revealed that Lindsay Lohan and her girlfriend are "officially" an item. This is new information? Call me cynical, but I wonder how long this show is going to last. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm glad she was able to find someone in her life to give her stability be they male, female or hermaphrodite. But I wonder how long it'll be before she hitches a ride back on the penis train?

I was up until almost midnight catching up with Takaya-sensei's new series Hoshi was Utau AKA Twinkle Stars. Verdict: I'm hooked. I may have to snag some of the icons [livejournal.com profile] flamika made.

Takaya-sensei must have momma issues... )

Well, that's all for now. It's Hump Day and my brain is fried...

I just realized I don't remember if I posted my pictures of my trip to St. Augustine and the Michael Bublé concert or not, so I uploaded them onto Facebook and shell be sharing the link.

And people are making such a big deal about the "pig and lipstick" comment Obama made. What is the big damn deal? People are saying it was directed at Palin due to the word lipstick and that he's sexist and shit. Gimme a break. It's a phrase I've heard a dozen times and it's not sexist at all. It just refers to taking something somewhat unpleasant, revising it just slightly to make it seem more pleasant, but it's still the same unpleasant thing.

This is one of the reasons why I hate election years! People are always saying a bunch of crap about the other and it all snowballs from there. Ugh!

Oh, [livejournal.com profile] flamika, take care since Ike is heading your way. [livejournal.com profile] toriru4ever, same thing!

[livejournal.com profile] kawaiiayu, don't forget to post your house pictures!!

I'm going through a lot of personal crap right now. I debated on whether or not to post it, but I decided against it because I didn't want to seem like an attention whore. So I'll just write it down in my paper journal.

Man, work was hectic. Today was EOM (don't ask, I know it's technically the 2nd). I was working like a fiend to get my check all posted today before close. Luckily it was a small one so it wasn't that big of a deal. By the end, I was getting a little punchy...

I didn't do much yesterday for Labor Day. Mostly watched Harry Potter and uploaded some more pictures on my Facebook.

The big thing on the news right now, other than Gustav is the fact that the Republican nominee for veep's daughter is pregnant. I for one wish this whole thing would blow over. I mean, it's not like they were trying to hide it or anything. The family values contingency are probably going apeshit over it though. True, she made a mistake, but they're dealing with in a responsible manner. I mean, I've know a few teenage girls who got pregnant out of wedlock, and while their parents were disappointed at first, they dealt with it with love and respect.
