snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (H/G - *giggles*)
The most absurd (at least to me) thing happened to me today. I was listening to my Internet radio station like I usually do at work. Then I get this e-mail form this bigwig in the IT Dept. saying that I was violating protocol because I was listening to the radio. WTF?!?! Apparently listening to "streaming music stations" prevents the screen saver to activate. This is important because you have to have a password in order to deactivate the screen saver once it activates. The screen saver annoys me anyway because you have to type in your password and it's all a big hassle. They said non compliance would lead to "disciplinary action." Whatever. Big Brother is watching you again. And they made sure they stopped "surveillance" on me once I shut it down. Luckily I still had my iPod on me. *grumbles* What is this, a Fascist state?!

Anyway, this weekend was fairly uneventful. Saturday was spent running errands. It took longer than expected, so I didn't get to try to connect my camera to my laptop like I had wanted. I did cave and bought Deathly Hallows instead of waiting for it to come out in paperback. I decided I couldn't hold out any longer. I spent most of Sunday at a family get together reading it. I would've probably finished it by now if I didn't need to do things like, sleep or eat and the like.

I'll probably post my thoughts once I completely finish it, but I will say I giggled madly during a certain scene in Chapter Seven. *points to icon*

Annnnd I got my new glasses! My sunglasses weren't ready yet along with mom's, but my regular ones were!

Geek Chic!

If you squint, you might be able to see the reflection of my computer screen on the lenses.

I also just bought LotF Inferno today! However, any other reading is being set aside until I finish DH...

I'm looking foreward to the Robot Chicken episode that's the Star Wars Special. I saw snippets and it looks to be hilarious.

Annnnd, because I am a sheep, I present to you, a meme!!

baaaaaaa )

Work today was busier than Tuesday, which is fine. I dunno what's in store tomorrow. I guess I'll just have to see what comes up.

I went and got issue #3 of Buffy Season Eight and issue #12 of Star Wars Legacy. I also found the four volume issues of Runaways/Young Avengers addressing the whole "Civil War" thing. It wasn't too bad. The writing was decent and the art wasn't too bad. The regular monthly isn't coming out until the 27th, which is bizarre to me. Why so long?! *fnarl*

Well, I had orientation today. It wasn't too bad. Typical stuff. Going over policies. Boring vids. That kinda stuff. Still, I got paid for it, so that was good. I have to call my supervisor tomorrow since my time card got screwed up.

I was actually able to get somewhat caught up from what I missed this morning. I still have some indexing to do tomorrow morning, but I got all the charts scanned. I have some loose sheets I need to scan yet from last week. I dunno when I'll get to those...

Mom is in a better mood today. She still wants to switch doctors though.

I got me some new books. They're Star Wars books, but they're set during the Clone Wars and it focuses on a Med Unit. Sorta like M*A*S*H in space. And I was successful in getting my hands on a copy of Legacy 5. Good stuff.

I downloaded the latest Kaze Hikaru chapter. Okita is so cute when he's blushing. And Saito makes the funniest faces when he's flustered. Hee!

I think I'm gonna try to post my Christmas Card post tomorrow. If not, then sometime later in the week.

Trivia of the day: Mussels can thrive in polluted water because of an inborn ability to purify bacteria, fungi and viruses.

... and it's taking no prisoners.

Yes, that lovely time has come. And by lovely, of course, I mean, totally agonizing. The Red Tide has reared its considerably ugly head around. Ugh, the things we have to go through in order to propagate, I swear...

Mom called and said I should be expecting a call from someone sometime today in regards to setting up an interview with someone in the Medical Records department. Since she has my car, I can't go anywhere so I'll most likely still be around. Due to my "condition" I can't go swimming, either. Currently I'm doing laundry, even though mom gave me the "day off." I need some clean clothes.

The other night, I had my first dream (that I remember) with my grandmother in it. It was very nice, actually. The whole family was going to see a production of Les Miz and we were going to one of those old fashioned type theaters, with the velvet and the gilding and chandeliers. I was helping my grandmother up the stairs to the main auditorium (like I usually did sometimes) but in the dream, she had a cane and she never used one when she was living. Once we got inside, we took our seats, and somehow I was fiddling with my cell phone for some reason. I think I was trying to turn it off and I couldn't. We discover that instead of a live stage production, it's actually a film and I remember thinking to myself, "If I'd wanted to see a film version, I'd have rented one from the video store." And then I woke up. Strange.

My two new Netflix disks have arrived. One is a disk of shorts from MST3K which I already watched. The other is the first disk of Saiyuki Reload, which I've seen the first few episodes of. I like the animation style better this time around. Gojyo's hair is actually the color it's supposed to be, not pink. I was also instructed that I needed to watch this particular series in Japanese, which I have been. But then, I have to make sure I constantly focus on the screen so I know what's being said, as opposed to doing something else, which I've done from time to time.

I wasn't able to find the latest issue of the Legacy comic, so I have to try again some other time I guess. *siiigh*

Trivia of the day: In 1954, Trix breakfast cereal was introduced by General Mills. The new cereal, a huge hit with kids, was 46.6 percent sugar.<--shocker

Reading a post on [livejournal.com profile] japanophile, I came across sites for bento boxes... and now I want one. There's some links to some really cute ones on Cooking Cute.

Mom has already decided what movie she wants to watch tomorrow, even though it's technically my turn... I may give in since it's one I like too.

I may go to the bookstore today to hunt down the latest Legacy comic and possibly buy lunch with what I have left over.

Tonight is the season premieres of Grey's Anatomy and CSI. I'm recording one so mom and I can watch the other one together.

I read vol. 2 of OHC. Yes, I can say I'm definitely liking this series. Tamaki's failed attempts to try to get Haruhi to look more feminine, the twins just being the twins (I thought the "fight" they had just so they could get an invitation to Haruhi's house was hilarious) and Mori's stoicism. I think Haruhi may be developing to crush on Mori, mostly because he's the most serious of the six of them (although if Tamaki found out, he might just freak out. I can't decide if he actually likes Haruhi, or is amused by her "peasant" ways. Hmmmm).

Trivia of the day: Nationwide, U.S. experts say there are too few honeybees. This is cause for alarm, as honeybees are the natural pollinators of all vine crops as well as certain nuts, some citrus, and backyard apples. Up to 90 percent of feral bees have been killed off in the northeast United States.<--see! bee's are useful, unlike wasps or mosquitoes
