snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Crow -- la la la)
Happy Labor Day everyone!! It's nice having a paid day off from work.

Today I'll probably be staying home and lounging. I plan on having a mimi-MST marathon. I started last night with Robot Monster and The Amazing Colossal Man. Today I'll be starting with War of the Colossal Beast and Night of the Blood Beast. After that, who knows!

The majority of the weekend was spent relaxing... which is what weekends are for. We spent Saturday morning at the storage unit looking for CD's that were ultimately never found. However we did haul home her bike and a lamp I plan on taking to work as well as some other stuff mom wants to give to Goodwill.

Afterwards, after we got home, I went to the comic shop to try to find the latest issues. I only found Legacy since Buffy hasn't come out yet. Then I went to the bookstore to try to find ES 6, but no luck. I'll look probably Tuesday as I look for Immortal Rain8.

We also have laundry to do since somehow we never got around to it... go figure. I figure this is fairly important since a lot of the clothes we wear during the week are in there.

And I was successful in downloading my pictures from my camera onto my laptop. So I have pictures!! Yay fun! EDIT: OK... maybe later.

Today wasn't too bad. I had a shit load of fee tickets to post and that took me the majority of the day, so I didn't get any insurance checks posted.

And my cousin had her baby! He's adorable! So much dark hair! His name is J'Quohn Nicholas and he shares his birthday with one of my other cousins, [livejournal.com profile] poeticdeathofme who turned 19 yesterday. Happy Birthday, Britt!

I have a bit I wanna try to get done this weekend.

1. Finish reading OotP (and start on HBP).
2. Try to figure out why my printer doesn't want to print pictures. *fnarl*
3. Try to reorgainize my closet.
4. Put some of my manga away...
5. Fiddle around with the song lists in iTunes.

Maybe one weekend I can have a day where I don't even have to get out my my pajamas. That's the life.

Like my new icon? [livejournal.com profile] flamika made for me from an image of Mikami from chapter 102. *sniffles* Poor boy... However, I think it totally fits, though.

Anyway, time to sum up my weekend:

Friday:

See Friday's journal...

Saturday:

The second day of our Estate Sale went pretty well. We sold the majority of things on Friday, so we only had a few things left, but it was enough to have a decent sale. It was pretty chilly out, so I had bundled up pretty good. I had my eye on a cute snack set so I kept repeating to myself the mantra "Don't buy the snack set. Don't buy the snack set." whenever anyone came by. It seemed to work, because no one bought it. My aunt's mojo didn't seem to work as well. She had her eye on a few things that, if they didn't sell, she'd like to have kept. Such as the card table and chairs my grandma had, but a lady came by and snatched it up for her Bunko games. Oh well...

After the sale, we boxed things up and dropped them off to Goodwill. There were only a couple of boxes remaining. Afterwards, mom and I went to Wal-Mart to do our grocery shopping.

Sunday:

We went to church like always. The OomA was there again. I actually got to wave to him and he waved back and even said hi! *squeeeee* Of course, mom had to rub it in that she got to hug him... xP Then we went to my aunt's house to pick up some boxes so we could take them back with us. Oh! I found my shoes! Apparently, mom had dumped them into her duffel bag... which was in my car for over a month. Here I was looking for a box of shoes when I should've been looking for a duffel bag! *facepalm*

The wedding was very lovely. It was on the beach, so it was a bit chilly. I had debate on whether or not I wanted to wear a skirt or pants. I opted for the skirt. Hey, I didn't shave my legs for nothing! There was a bit of a wind issue, causing the bride's veil to blow into her face, but aside from that, it was very beautiful.

The reception was very nice, too. The food was good and I even danced a little! Mom bought new shoes which pinched, so she went to the parking lot in stocking feet.

I want to go later on today and look for RK 25. I hope that my Furuba 13 doesn't take too long to get to me...

And, a meme I swiped from [livejournal.com profile] dracschick:

Hey! You! Get offa my cloud! )

And I'm really beginning to fall in love with this song...

All will be well
Even after all the promises
You've broken to yourself.
All will be well
You can ask me,
But only time will tell.

Trivia of the day: As valedictorian for her high school, actress Jodie Foster delivered her graduation speech in French.

Hmmm, where to start. Let's outline!!

Friday:

Nothing to eventful happened. After I picked up mom from work and we stopped to do our grocery shopping, we decided to watch a movie. Friday used to be our movie nights, but we haven't done it in awhile so it was kind of nice. I wanted to go to Blockbuster and pick up something, but mom just wanted to go to the house and crash. Anyway, somehow she convinced me to watch 'Shall We Dance' with her. I will admit, it wasn't too bad... Afterwards we watched 'Clue', or at least I did. She went to bed early.

Saturday:

We went to a ladies brunch in the morning. It was for the Women's Ministry at church. It was pretty nice. We broke up into groups to try and decide various activities for us to do. I came up with a Spa Night. I mean, a lot of the ladies work either out of the home or within it and they need a bit of time to themselves to be pampered. That was the idea I had. Not everyone can afford to go to the the regular spa, so I figured we could have one of our own once in awhile. It seemed to go over well. I'm not 100% sure, since we had to leave early.

After that that, we went over to my aunts in order to go through yet more of my grandmother's things for the big sale coming up this weekend. We stopped by the storage unit, got more of the smaller things and a few of the furnishings and brought them back to the house. Then we cleaned up more things and priced them. That was pretty much all we did.

Sunday:

Sunday was church and then after that, mom spread some bug killer on the lawn to see if that would help with the flea problem we've been having lately. She wasn't able to cover the whole back yard... Later, she changed clothes and went over to my aunts to make signs and gift some of the bells my grandma had that we're giving away as gifts. I stayed home because I had laundry to do.

It seems as though there's a full-time data entry position open at mom's work, so it's something I'll be looking into for sure. *crosses fingers*

Well, let's see, today I have to vacuum the floors, find a song for [livejournal.com profile] shroomy2003, try and come up with an icon idea for [livejournal.com profile] dracschick since she has a bunch of icon space available now, and try and do those other icons I've been meaning to do...

Fandom-wise, quite a bit happened over the weekend. Furuba 124 was released and I squeed mightily. It was a very good chapter. I know [livejournal.com profile] flamika will come up with some rockin' icons from it...

And I found a Mikami community! [livejournal.com profile] mikami_teru. And, naturally, I joined. *facepalm* I wonder if I should post on there and show off my layout?

Wow. This weekend was a busy one, lemme tell ya. I think I'll break it down by day.

Friday:

Actually, I don't think we did much of anythng on Friday...

Saturday:

Saturday morning was pretty slow. I did go out to the movies on Saturday afternoon with the new girl who works next to mom at the doctor's office. She seems really nice and it's nice to have someone closer to my own age to hang out with. We went to see 'The Brothers Grimm.' I liked it. I mean, there were some gruesom moments, but nothing too gory or anything, just be warned ahead of time is all. The title for this post is a line from an episode of MST3K, but it fits for the movie. You'd have to watch it to know what I meant for sure. She said the next movie we'd go see is 'The Corpse Bride.' She also told me she'd lend me her copy of 'A Nightmare Before Christmas' since I'd never seen it.

Afterwards, I went to the mall 'cause I wanted to see if I could find some slacks and maybe a top or two I could wear for work. I mean, since I'm in the back, I can get away with wearing jeans, but at the moment, it's still too hot. I saw a few things in at Gap that I liked. I didn't get anything though. I also picked up a few pamphlets on cell phones 'cause I want to get one since I'll not be at home for any one (like my mom or grandma) to be able to get ahold of me. I also stopped by the bookstore because I wanted to see if they had the latest Rurouni Kenshin volume in. They didn't.

Sunday:

Sunday (after church) there was a party for the Music Minister 'cause his birthday is Tuesday (we'll have another party then too). It wasn't directly after church, so there was time for me to change my clothes, rest up a bit, shave and change into the clothes I'd be wearing to the party. It was held a a place called 'The Melting Pot.' It's a fondue resturant. We were there for the desert part. It was really good. There were different pots filled with all sorts of different types of chocolate. The table where we were at had a S'mores one and a Yin Yang one. The S'mores one was, of course, s'mores. Chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker crumbs. The Yin Yang one was a mix of white and dark chocolate in the shape of a Yin Yang symbol. I took a picture even. My favorite was the S'mores one. I love s'mores. For dipping we had a plate of strawberries, pineapple, bananas, cubes of pound cakes, mini-brownies, a slice of cheesecake and two different types of marshmallows. One was rolled in Oreo cookies, the other one was rolled in graham cracker. I dipped most of mine into the s'mores one but I dipped one of the bananas into one of the other table's pots that had chocolate and peanut butter. That was good.

One of the ladies who comes to our bible study on Tuesday nights, her husband had just come back from a six month stay in Japan where he had a gig at Tokyo Disney with his band. He wore a yukata to church! He also brought me more socks and a manga 'phone book.' I don't know the title, but as I was flipping though it I did notice it was definitely shojo. I'll take a picture and post it sometime. I also got some coins, too.

Today I have some bookmarks to make and maybe a few icons and I asked mom if maybe later on we could go and see 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.' I hope she says yes.

Happy Labor Day!!

Well, this is my last week of freedom before I become an official member of the working force (ha haa). I'm going to milk it for all it's worth.

This weekend was a busy one for me:

Friday:

Mom stayed home not because she was sick but because she had two separate doctor's appointments that day. She was able to drive herself to the eye doctor since I had to stay home and do laundry and I knew I wouldn't really have a chance later on. Then, she had to go to the doctor to see about her knee. Since he was stuck in surgery, they had to move her appointment to later and I had to come with her since--

We had a birthday dinner for one of the girls in Mom's office suite. She's new and she seemed really nice. We sat next to each other during dinner and we got to talk some. She graduated from the same college I did! That caused me to like her right away! We ate at Makoto's and I had my usual-- sesame chicken. It was really good. The Tepanyaki chef we had was really young. He recently graduated high school (my same one, to be precise). He had been off for a week due to school, so he had to get back into the swing of things, but he did good. He was kinda cute, too. I tried to take a picture, but I wasn't sneaky enough...

Saturday:

There was a brunch for the ladies hosted by the Women's Ministy at our church. It was very nice, actually. We discussed what future plans for the ladies are and stuff.

Afterwards, I was dropped off so mom and grandma could go grocery shopping. I mostly caught up with online stuff. Then, when mom came home, we put groceries away and she took a nap before--

We went to a baseball game! It was a Minor League team and they won (which was good). After the game was over, there was a couple who got married at First Base. It was kinda cute. After they were married, then the fireworks came! That was my main reason for going, actually. Mom took some pictures with her digital camera. They came out pretty good. I told her I want a copy of them (for icon purposes, actually) and she said she would as long as I gave her copies of the ones I took from the dinner on Friday. I said it was a deal.

Sunday:

Other than church, I didn't do squat. It was too hot.

I'm glad [livejournal.com profile] lizardali and [livejournal.com profile] isa2525 no longer live in New Orleans. What with Katrina about to strike at full force, it's probably not gonna be pretty. I pray that everyone will make it through alright.

I'm gonna take a bit of a break from icons for a bit. I need to replenish my creative juices...

And I changed my background a bit. I recently increased my screen resolution and my old background didn't fit properly, so I had to fix it. I like the new resolution. Let's hope my eyes do too. I also changed my layout a bit. I just moved the main page over is all.

And I joined [livejournal.com profile] mibucorporation. It's an AU 'Samurai Deeper Kyo' RP. I play Benitora. I hope I can do the role justice. *crosses fingers*

Oh, how I don't miss it. Of course, once I get into the workforce, I'll not have summers off. That's a mite dissapointing, but I can deal.

Not much happened this weekend. Both mom and I were lazy. We just stayed inside on Saturday. I watched 'Pride and Predjudice'... again. Love it! Sunday we went to church and did our errands. I bought some coolant, but we're gonna recruit some help in getting it in the car since we have to drain the radiator and all sorts of stuff. So no going anywhere for awhile. *sigh*

Well, 'TriMax' 6 is out and so is RK 17 and 'Saiyuki Reload.' Man, where is everyone getting these? Why do my bookstores have to be behind on everything!

Since I don't know when I'll be able to purchase my 'SamCham' DVD's, I'm taping the episodes since they're being re-aired on [adult swim]. But I do definitely plan on buying them eventually. I must get my fix of Jin... *droool*

Some more memes I came across. Don't worry, they're not surveys or anything...

I'm gonna be gettin' my Furuba #10!! Wheeeee!!! I received an e-mail from Tokyopop apologizing and they said they'd send a replacement. Yippee!!

Anyway... I'm so stoked. I found a somewhat local theater playing Howl's Moving Castle. I'm going today. Maybe even Wednesday as well... I'm so happy! I made sure to triple check to make sure they were indeed playing it, and they are. *giggles*

I'll probably do a write up not only on here, but on the [livejournal.com profile] movingcastle community.

Well, I have a few more icon ideas stirring around in my head. I'll probably work on them tomorrow sometime. I hope I don't have any problems with the disks I scanned all those pictures on. Turns out, I ended up with about 50 pics from vol. 17 alone!! Whew!

Saturday we went to a church picnic to officially welcome our new Youth Minister. It was very nice. It was at a park I'd never been to before and it was on the river, so there was a nice little beach there and a large pavilion (where we were) and some smaller ones as well. Mom made a couple of pies for the pie tasting contest. She didn't place or anything, but they were still good. One was a Sugar Creme Pie and the other two were Oreo cookie pies. I love the Oreo ones. The one she had left that she took home I already ate two pieces out of it...
