snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Rin and Haru -- kiss)
I love this song. It's so ethereal and romantic. I've listened to it numerous times today. Here's the lyrics.

lyrics )

It's even better when you hear it. To me it sounds as if she's singing to a newly reunited lover and she's whispering in his ear as they embrace. *siiigh* I'm such a hopeless romantic.

Anyway, in regards to the interview yesterday, I felt it went really well. She told me what the position entailed. It was basically what I thought. Mostly it's involved with posting charges for services and for payroll. There's a lot of sitting, which compared to all the standing I've been doing it'll be cake. They're gonna be busiest toward the end of the month every month due to making sure everything is posted before the first of the following month, but I think I can handle it.

She said she'd call me Friday since she had other interviews to do, but she said she likes to hire internally, so I have a good feeling.

Mom's been having a bunch of neurological tests done since she apparently had a mini stroke about a month or so ago. I hope they can get everything sorted out so that nothing like this can happen again. Luckily she doesn't seem to have any aftereffects or anything. Hopefully we've seen the last of these little episodes...

I saw some pictures from the wedding we went to last weekend. Mom did a good job, I must say, She got some good angles and close-ups. I saw the one of us that was taken. Egads! I look like the bride of Casper, I'm so white! I generally don't think I take good photos anyway, so I could be somewhat overly critical about these things.

Word of the Day: quiescent

adj : quiet, still, or at rest; inactive

Have I mentioned how much I love this song? I'd play it all day if I could...

The scanner came today!! *angelic choir* And so, that's what I spent most of the day doing. Scanning. I was in my element. We also chipped in to get lunch for one of the girls going on maternity leave. Kinda like a send off lunch. It was very nice. Today I forked over $5 so I could wear jeans tomorrow. It was for Easter Seals, so it was a pretty good cause. The jeans are just a nifty bonus.

I got my bento box in the mail today! *squee* It's kinda small though. I can use if for small food items and snacky stuff. I need to get me a recipe book. The next one I get will be a bit bigger.

I gotta try to squeeze in my shower between shows. Damn, Wednesdays are tough! There's Bones, then Lost and finally CSI: NY. I guess it'll have to be during CSI:NY. *siiiigh*

Trivia of the day: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 18 million courses of antibiotics are prescribed for the common cold in the United States per year. Research shows that colds are caused by viruses. 50 million unnecessary antibiotics are prescribed for viral respiratory infections.

Well, the job interview yesterday went well, or at least it seemed that way to me. She started off by asking me to tell her a little bit about myself. I never know how to handle that sort of thing. I mean, what do I say? "Yes, I've been unemployed ever since I graduated college four years ago, and I spend my free time surfing the Internet and watching anime." Basically I just lamely said I was still trying to find my niche in life... *facepalm* But, that was the only rough part of the interview. They may have an opening for me at an OB/GYN place where some of the ladies who work there are going to be going on maternity leave soon. So, I keep my fingers crossed. I should hear back from them in a few days.

[livejournal.com profile] kawaiiayu has just made my day. She uploaded some songs for me from the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack. They have some really great music on the show. So, now I'm listening to them and being all happy! *squee*

Plus, in addition to those two songs, I upload some Tori Amos songs that someone on another journal had uploaded from her The Piano compilation, and they're ones I don't already have, so that's a good thing...

And, in case you were curious, this is the printer I was talking about in yesterday's post. Not too bad, I say...

Speaking of which, I have a card or two to make sometime today...

Trivia of the day: According to a survey, an estimated 5.5 million Americans believe they have been defrauded into buying something over the phone. A U.S. subcommittee has estimated that while telemarketing fraud costs consumers more than $40 billion a year, only about one in 10,000 victims reports the problem to authorities.<--which is why we screen our phone calls
snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Ryoki and Hatsumi (selenphobia))
I think I'm becoming obsessed with this song. I've listened to it like 11 times in a row already...

Well, I went to the bookstore again yesterday, but I really lucked out, so all is golden. So I don't have to go back again until it's time for me to get the newest Legacy comics...

Mom saw the OKGo video with the treadmills on YouTube last night and she thought it was pretty neat. I saw it before, but it wasn't a very good quality version of it, so I was actually able to see the entire thing. The friend that sent it to her said that they performed it live (complete with treadmills) on the VMA's.

My allergies are bugging me a lot lately. I had a hard time going to sleep last night because of them...

OK, onto more important things...

I was able to finally get my hands on a copy of TriMax 9. And I must say this, I agree with [livejournal.com profile] lizardali when she said "Poor Livio." Poor Livio indeed. But he's a real bad ass though! He caught a rocket fired from Wolfwood's rocket launcher with his bare hand! Dayum! And I never knew Livio and Razlo the TriP of Death were the same person, albeit separate personalities. From reading summaries and translations I always thought they were two different people.

The shock of Mustang's actions in FMA 9 was lessened since reading it the second time around, but it still stings a bit.

And I got the final volume of Hot Gimmick as well. It was wrapped in plastic and had a disclaimer on the cover. Can't have innocent eyes flipping though it and see the boobies! I saw raw scans and read translations before, so I wasn't overly surprised at the outcome. It was nice, however, to see clearer images than the somewhat fuzzy ones from the raw scans.

I also gazed at more raw volume scans of Kaze Hikaru. I say "gazed" since I can't very well read them. Oh, for some translations! Anyway, this time was volume 8 and it had a lot of Okita's past in it. And Okita as a little kid? Abso-freakin-lutely adorable! And we see that he runs into Sei when both were little kids! How cute! Sei is lost and looking for her brother Yuma and Okita is also lost. He helps her find her brother and he gets found as well. We also see what Kondo and Hijikata were like when they were younger. Pretty much the same, really. Hijikata was still an oni and Kondo was very much a kindly older brother.

I know I should be working on my story for ATACT, but I haven't felt very motivated lately. Maybe I've reached a sort of ennui in regards to story writing. I mean, I still have some ideas buzzing around, but I haven't felt the urge to write them down. I dunno why, really. Maybe it's something that happens to everyone once in a while...

Trivia of the day: The biggest fear of chefs who cook for world leaders is food poisoning. Many cook for as many as 5,500 guests at a time. Sudhir Sibal, a devoted world-class chef who serves India's prime minister, says he personally samples all food first before it is served.
snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (VM -- LoVe Passion (sweet100x100))
God, I love this song. I must thank [livejournal.com profile] flamika for including it on her DN fanmix...

Well, I didn't get the job offered to me. They didn't give me a reason, they just sent an e-mail saying I wasn't what they were looking fo at this time. So, I'm going to go later on today and drop of my resume at a Temp Agency. Hopefully if I specify 'Data Entry' I can actually get Data Entry.

We're supposed to be going out to dinner tonight, but mom hasn't called to reconfirm my aunt and uncle's availability which is preventing her from making reservations. So, needless to say, I'm not holding my breath.

I did another icon shuffle today. I still have two slots left and one is reserved for one I thought I had downloaded, but it turns out I didn't. The other one... I don't remember what I was saving it for. I'm sure it'll come to me eventually.

Since Friday's are generally slim post days, I have here an interesting thing I got from [livejournal.com profile] crzydemona:

1. Your Rock Star Name (the name of your first pet and the name of the current street you live on): Suzette "Suzy" Locksley <--- actually my prior street, but it sounds better. And I think this is a cool rocker name! Along with my band, The Squid Eyes!

2. Your Movie Star Name (your grandmother on your dad's side first name and your favorite candy): Barbara Snickers <--- which I think goes better than Barbara Reese's Peanut Butter Cup or Barbara Nestle Crunch.

3. Your "Fly Girl/Guy" Name (the first initial of your first name and the first two or three letters of your last name): D-Bat <--- actually, I think I should change it to Da Bat. It still kinda fits and it sounds way cool.

4. Your Detective Name (your favorite animal and your favorite color): Cat Blue <--- I think this is an awesome detective name! Kinda like out of those 40's pulp detective novels!

5. Your Soap Opera Name (your middle name and the city where you were born): Ruth Elkhart <--- I think that'd kinda work, don't you?

6. Your "Star Wars" Name (the first three letters of your last name, the last three letters of your mother's maiden name, and the first three letters of your pet's name): BatIngMoo <--- *snort* Looks more like a bad Scrabble hand if you ask me.

7. Your Jedi Name (your middle name spelled backwards and your mom's maiden name spelled backwards): Htur Ginkrew <--- that sounds pretty cool, if you ask me.

8. Porn Star Name (your middle name, your father's middle initial and the name of the street you grew up on): Ruth A. Main <--- I'm not 100% sure of the name of the street I grew up on. I lived in a very small town...

9. Your Superhero Name ("The" + your favorite color and a car you drive/own): The Blue Saturn <--- coming to the rescue!!

10. Your Jewish Name (the first three letters of your first name + "-ri" and your favorite color + "-berg," "-stein," or "-enthal"): Danri Bluestein <--- my last name makes no sense... maybe it should be "Bluenthal."

11. Your Ghetto Name (the first two letters of your first name + "Shawn/Qwan/Ron/Quita/Niqua" and the last name of whatever currency you pull out of your pocket): DaQuita Lincoln <--- *giggle*

I hope at least some of you participate. I'd kinda like to see what everyone has.

Have a good weekend and a Happy Easter/Passover!!

Trivia of the day: Zachary Taylor, formerly a professional soldier, never voted. He didn’t even vote in the election that elected him U.S. president.
snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Mikami -- batshit (flamika))
Like my new icon? [livejournal.com profile] flamika made for me from an image of Mikami from chapter 102. *sniffles* Poor boy... However, I think it totally fits, though.

Anyway, time to sum up my weekend:

Friday:

See Friday's journal...

Saturday:

The second day of our Estate Sale went pretty well. We sold the majority of things on Friday, so we only had a few things left, but it was enough to have a decent sale. It was pretty chilly out, so I had bundled up pretty good. I had my eye on a cute snack set so I kept repeating to myself the mantra "Don't buy the snack set. Don't buy the snack set." whenever anyone came by. It seemed to work, because no one bought it. My aunt's mojo didn't seem to work as well. She had her eye on a few things that, if they didn't sell, she'd like to have kept. Such as the card table and chairs my grandma had, but a lady came by and snatched it up for her Bunko games. Oh well...

After the sale, we boxed things up and dropped them off to Goodwill. There were only a couple of boxes remaining. Afterwards, mom and I went to Wal-Mart to do our grocery shopping.

Sunday:

We went to church like always. The OomA was there again. I actually got to wave to him and he waved back and even said hi! *squeeeee* Of course, mom had to rub it in that she got to hug him... xP Then we went to my aunt's house to pick up some boxes so we could take them back with us. Oh! I found my shoes! Apparently, mom had dumped them into her duffel bag... which was in my car for over a month. Here I was looking for a box of shoes when I should've been looking for a duffel bag! *facepalm*

The wedding was very lovely. It was on the beach, so it was a bit chilly. I had debate on whether or not I wanted to wear a skirt or pants. I opted for the skirt. Hey, I didn't shave my legs for nothing! There was a bit of a wind issue, causing the bride's veil to blow into her face, but aside from that, it was very beautiful.

The reception was very nice, too. The food was good and I even danced a little! Mom bought new shoes which pinched, so she went to the parking lot in stocking feet.

I want to go later on today and look for RK 25. I hope that my Furuba 13 doesn't take too long to get to me...

And, a meme I swiped from [livejournal.com profile] dracschick:

Hey! You! Get offa my cloud! )

And I'm really beginning to fall in love with this song...

All will be well
Even after all the promises
You've broken to yourself.
All will be well
You can ask me,
But only time will tell.

Trivia of the day: As valedictorian for her high school, actress Jodie Foster delivered her graduation speech in French.
snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (NANA -- Takumi (colorfilter))
I can tell I like this song a lot. According to my iTunes, I've listened to it 10 times. I think I can beat that. But it's not the one I've listened to the most, though. That one is "If You Want Me To" by Ginny Owens.

I'm thinking of pre-ordering TriMax 8 from Amazon.com instead of Dark Horse. I think they may be more prompt. At least I hope so. I may order the majority of my manga from them in the future. They have good deals.

I'm having a wee bit of trouble with the one set of icons I want to do. It's finding the images that's giving the most trouble. If necessary, I can back burner it for the time being. I think I also want to make me a NANA bookmark and possibly a Kaze Hikaru one as well. I'll have to see.

My car is being poopy lately. My coolant reserve tank like to empty too quickly on me, so there may be a leak, so I can't drive it around much. *cries* Later today I have to walk down to the 7-11 to get mom some milk. It's not that far, but it's a bit nippy out and I'll be carrying something cold...

Since I don't have a lot to post on today, I'll be meme-ing it!

Let's hear it for 'Squid Eyes'! )

Trivia of the day: Because the orange roughy grows slowly — the average fish is between 30 and 50 years old — the New Zealand government has imposed fishing restrictions. Consequently, the fish is not as abundant in stores as during the 1980's.
snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Default)
*sigh* I am in love. Completely, utterly, hopelessly in love...with the song The Reason by Hoobastank. I could listen to it forever. It's just so emotional and heartfelt. You can just hear the earnestness when you hear it. I've been listening to it constantly since yesterday. It's only me here, so if anyone is getting sick of it yet, it's probably my cats.

On another note, I found some pics of Amon that might work for an icon for me. I'll have to see how it works out though. I haven't gotten all the problems cleared up yet that I was having before. But, success!

Tomorrow is the community project I'm in charge off. I only hope I don't get lost on the way there. We have to be at the site at 8:00 in the morning. I'll let you know how it went on Monday.

Excelsior!
