snapdragon76: Did I mention that I like reading? (books)
Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 27 (Fullmetal Alchemist, #27)Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 27 by Hiromu Arakawa

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow. Here we are at the end of an era. What a ride it has been.

I've been a longtime fan of this series due to the excellent storyline and the fabulous art, especially the art. I love how the characters have always had a distinct look from each other. And the detail is amazing.

We have come to the end of a long journey with these characters and while I know everything must come to an end, it's still very bittersweet nonetheless. It just goes to show how excellent this series is when you can feel such emotion at the conclusion of the story.

Thank you very much, Arakawa-sensei. I look forward to your next work.

I totally need to get me a new chair at work. Sitting all days for hours on end really starts to get to me. Unfortunately, due to budgetary concerns, in order to get a new chair, I'd need a doctor's note saying I need one. Urgh...

Anyway, this weekend was pretty full. Saturday I finished up my shopping, which took longer than I expected. I had to meet mom then so we could go to the Flea Market and get a few other gifts for various family members. I also got me a bamboo plant for my work area. It looks really nice.

I started on some of my cards, but I wasn't able to finish them, I hope I can real soon so I can get them out as soon as I can, hopefully so you can get them before Christmas. Speaking of which, I got your card today, [livejournal.com profile] elvenmoon! It's very cute!

Sunday we spent getting groceries, which took quite a while actually, since we went to church beforehand. Then the majority of the day was spend wrapping gifts and printing off gift tags and doing laundry et al. I also watched OotP and played some of my new games I got (Carnival Games for the Wii and Master of Illusion for the DS. Both tons of fun).

I bought volume 15 of FMA as well. It's mostly a flashback volumes as Hawkeye regales what happened during the Ishbalian War to Ed. And Ed's facial expressions are still love...

And today is a day for some hot tea. I think I shall go and fix some.

Today wasn't so bad, actually. I came across a few issues, but I was able to work through them.

And I discovered there's a community dedicated to guys with long hair. [livejournal.com profile] longhairedmen. I've actually considered joinin' since, even though I'm not a guy with long hair, I still like 'em. Earrings too. As long as they keep it clean and nicely trimmed. Nothing scraggly, thank yew!

I got FMA 14. I haven't read it yet, but something happens in it I'm not overly fond of, I'll tell ya that.

I have an eye doctor's appointment next Friday. I want to get contacts and possibly a new pair of glasses. The ones I have now are serviceable, but I think I want frames that are a little more... hip. Plus, perhaps a pair of prescription sunglasses.

Well, life hasn't been anything to write home about, as it were. I mean, it's good and all, just... same old same old. I mean, at work, I'm just kinda sorting papers still. Whoa, step back lest the excitement of it all overwhelm you!

Mom told the doctor she works for that she's going to take a couple of days off when my aunt comes to visit next month. He started to say something about it when she added, "It also happens to coinside with the anniversary of my mother's death." Which is a polite way of saying, "Are you going to give me any crap about it? I didn't think so." He heeee...

I never got a chance to go on my desktop any yesterday and find any of the stuff I was supposed to look for. Oh well. I doubt I will next week either...

I ate some Chinese for lunch yesterday, then came home and cleaned the kitchen floor as well as the front of the appliances and the cabinets. I think I did pretty darn good. When I get in the mood to clean, I get in an intense mood at times. Too bad it didn't last long enough to clean the bathrooms.

I bought the latest volume of FMA. I was really good as expected. Ed's facial expressions are the best, such as when his dad commented that he grew his hair out like him. Piqued, Ed then braids his hair like usual, tossing his dad a very interesting look. I chuckled heartily. And Mei is very adorable! The way she keeps picturing Ed is highly amusing. Me, I can't wait to see her reaction when she finally sees him in person. And I love her little panda...

Annnnnd, today starts off our 'Veronica Mars' quote week. Today's is from Season One Episode 2 "Credit Where Credit's Due." Man, how I love Wikiquote...

And let us start things off with a nice ol' weekend outline, shall we? I know you just peed your pants in all the excitement.

Friday:

Movie night! We watched POTC in order to prep ourselves to see the second one which just came out. Plus, it's a fun movie to watch. Orlando Bloom can swash my buckle anytime...

Saturday:

The majority of the day was spent... in pajamas. Exciting, eh? But we cleaned ourselves up and prepared ourselves for dinner with some friends of ours. It was very nice. The food was good and the company was very pleasant. We stayed until almost eleven. We talked, we saw some photos from their honeymoon as well as the proofs of the wedding pictures. A good time was had by all...

Sunday:

Morning was church. OomA wasn't there like last weekend. *siiiigh* My old boss was there though. He hadn't been to our church in quite some time, so it was kinda nice to see him there (along with his lady friend).

Afternoon, we stopped by the storage place and dropped a few things off. Next weekend sometime we're gonna have to take out our sleeping bags since there's gonna be a local ladies retreat two weekends from now. Thing is, they're kinda buried underneath a bunch of stuff. I sure hope we don't have any more we need to put in there, because it's almost filled to bust already.

We then went to get a few things at the grocery store and then we made our way home.

Most of the afternoon I spent catching up on my FL and reading some. I read vol. 9 of the FMA manga, and I will say this, I was really disappointed in Roy. I'll go into further detail on my Greatest Journal (which I've decided to transform into my anime/manga journal. Nothing against [livejournal.com profile] ryudoshi, but I dislike having to sign out of this account and resigning into the other one. Too much hassle, especially since I use this one more). I will say this, though. Ed has some of the greatest expressions of any manga character I know. Three panels of him expressing his extreme nonverbal displeasure of discovering Ling is the same age as him yet about a foot taller. Hee!

Today I need to go and pick up my prescription and that's about it. I want to try to conserve gas, so I'm not driving any more than I have to. Oh, and my "Check Engine" light went out. We discovered it was probably from emissions, so we switched to a different grade gas and it seemed to help. Good! It saved me from a $75 diagnostic fee!

Anyway, mom was having trouble trying to download a song from iTunes last night. It's been awhile she she did it, and so she had thought she lost it. I told her to show me what she did. So she went through all the steps and then I figured out why she couldn't find the song on her hard drive. She didn't download it like she thought she had. She did the second time. Then she tried to burn it onto a disk, but the format was one of those m4p's instead of an mp3, so she couldn't do it. So she had to download a converter that would allow her to do it.

Tonight is our movie night and it's my turn to pick, so I'm gonna pick "The Mummy." She's never seen it all the way though, so I felt it was high time. That is, unless my aunt wants her to come over so they can look through photo albums before her and my uncle leave on their vacation on Thursday.

Went to the bookstore yesterday. Got some manga. DN 6, FMA 8 and the final volume of RK. Twenty-eight. I've only read FMA and RK so far and so, I give my impressions...

FMA )

RK Finale )

I want to see if I can watch some more of my torrents that I have. Hopefully I can maybe burn some of them so that I can perhaps make more room to download more.

Well, I was successful in my hunt for a cell phone cover. It's plain black, but it serves it's purpose. Kureno and Hatori are still on there, but they're nice and protected and as long as I know they're there, that's all that matters. And Hello Kitty is still able to peek out from the top.

While I was at the mall, I found the hat I was looking for. I really like it. It looks kinda... jaunty. It's really cute. I also bought 'SamCham' vol 6 (anime) and FMA vol. 5 (manga). Not a bad haul if I do say so. When I was in Best Buy, I got to play with an Ipod Nano. The lust for one is still there. I tried looking for the 'Veronica Mars' First Season set, so I could price it, but it wasn't there. Also, the copy of 'Serenity' that was there was the Full Screen version instead of a Widescreen. I want it in Widescreen.

On Antiques Roadshow last night, a guy brought in a set of insense holders... in the shape of the 12 animals of the zodiac! I was very good in containing myself, since mom would wonder why I'd be so freaked. They were made in Japan in the mid-1800's. The appraiser said they'd probably be worth between $6,000 to $8,000! Cool.

Well, I have some CD's I need to burn and I also need to load the Money program so I can access the info I need for taxes (ugh).

I will also be camping out by the mail box waiting for the tatsudoshi necklace [livejournal.com profile] flamika sent my way. *vibrates with excitement*
