snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (H/G - *giggles*)
One nice thing about working a week before a major holiday is that you can sometimes get off a wee bit early. I got off at 3:30 today. There were only two other people there besides me, so...

I stopped by the bookstore afterwards (mostly to see what has arrived, not necessarily manga even though I looked there). It was packed! I had a hard time even looking for a parking space! I'd hate to see what it's like on Monday!

I've been watching a mini HP marathon over the course of the week. It's interesting to see everyone grow up over the course of the series. Currently I'm on GoF. Any time Harry interacts with either Mr. or Mrs. Weaslely, I chuckle to myself and say "future in-laws!"

I've also been reading HBP in preparation for the movie to be coming out (err... next fall). It also happens to be my favorite out of the seven, with DH coming in second. Any of you who know me well can figure out why. *cough*

And I got cards over the past couple of days!! Yesterday I got [livejournal.com profile] kawaiiayu's and today I got [livejournal.com profile] umadoshi's and [livejournal.com profile] tenel_ka's.

Ysa, the card you sent was very cute, however due to the brutality of the postal system, the envelope was torn and a few of the decolletage fell off... :-(

Heather, the card you sent was the exact same one I sent out last year!!!! It just proves we have the same off center sense of humor!!! XD SOUL MATES!!!!!! LOVE the stick figure of lil Jacen!! Hur hurrrr...

Mom and I are planning to see a movie on Monday (interspersed with our DVD-a-thon). She was torn between Enchanted and the new National Treasure. I explained that Enchanted has been out longer and might not be in theaters too much longer, so that's what I think we're going to go with.

Well, I hope everyone has a pleasant weekend and a safe holiday. I plan on doing a short entry possibly on Monday.

Well, I finished Deathly Hallows last night. I loved it! However, my thoughts aren't really coherent enough to really do a write up any justice at the moment. They tend to be scattered whenever I write about anything I've read.

Work is going well. Right now I'm trying to fend of the tedium that comes during the middle of the day. I was told, however, that people think I'm doing a good job posting, so that's always nice to hear!

The air conditioning was finally fixed today. Hopefully no more leaks. However, there's a possible mold issue that needs to be dealt with. *ker sigh*

I got my sunglasses yesterday! They look snazzy. Mom kept calling me "movie star" yesterday. She's still "patiently" waiting for hers. I said it's probably because she's getting transition lenses and the blended bifocals.

Well, I got my eyes examined. Truthfully, I really didn't feel like I needed to, but I wanted to get contacts again and get some new frames and prescription sunglasses. Turns out, I have astigmatism in my left eye. I always noticed my left eye being slightly off, but to have moderate to severe astigmatism in it! Whoa! Maybe I should wear a patch over it and use just my right eye to see, like a pirate. And I have to have specially fitted contacts to wear in that eye. My right eye can take regular contacts, but since apparently the shape of my left eye is off too, I have to have different lenses for my left one. Thicker ones according to the optometrist. And contacts aren't exactly covered on my insurance plan.

I did find me some cute and funky frames to wear, though. I wanted to have them by Sunday so I could show my family, but they're not gonna be ready until Tuesday. I also got some sweet sunglasses I'm gonna have my prescription put in. Needless to say, this whole thing set me back a bit. Luckily I got paid today, even if it did take most of my paycheck. I don't have to pay for my contacts until I actually get them, so that helps. And they're disposable, so If I get two boxes of one eye each, they can last me two months if I stretch them out and not wear them everyday.

Mom's left eye also seems to have gotten worse. I tell ya, what a pair we make, eh? She also picked out some nice frames. Not as funky and hip as mine, but stylish. I told her she couldn't make any final decisions without my approval.

Driving home was interesting. What with the sunshine in my freshly dilated eyes and the myriad of lights that were shone in them, I'm surprised I'm not blinder than I already am.

One of our neighbor's died today. As I was heading to my car this morning, I saw a white unmarked van in the parking lot near our building. I lingered for a bit, wondering what it was doing here, then two people took out a gurney and I kinda clued in, especially since the van definitely wasn't an ambulance. I called mom later on as I was further down the street and told her about it (since she stayed home today because of various appointments she had). She called me later and told me it was the husband of one of our very nice neighbor ladies who likes to feed the local ducks. She said she plans on sending her our condolences sometime. I said that was very nice of us to do. It seems her husband has had various health problems, so it must've been nice for him to pass away at home where he was somewhere familiar.

I've decided to brave the depths of HP fanart and fanfic. Like I've said before, this fandom can be kinda scary, so I'm gonna tread carefully. Some images I don't need to have burned into my brain... Ratings are my guide. *clings*

Oh, and I got a new icon too. *points and giggles*

And finally, for some whimsy, I'm gonna post two pictures of myself in a way no one has seen me before!

eBay is my friend today. I was looking up a coloring book I used to own (and still have... somewhere) and I was amazed and surprised to see it listed on eBay! I dunno if I'll get my hands on it though. If I do, I'm leaving it pristine! If I wanna color it, I'll scan the pages and print them off. There's also a set of paper dolls too! I've never seen those before! *plots*

I'm almost finished with HBP. And yes, I was giggling like a fiend in a couple of places. *giggles* I'll have to restrain myself from getting DH before it comes out in paperback. I'm waiting because the rest of my books in the series are in paperback, it's less expensive and there's an issue of space. I will be strong!

The A/C is still broken. We've stuffed sheets and put containers to catch water until they finally finish. Every time I ask how long it's gonna take, they always say "Tomorrow." Suuuuure.

And, something I got from [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda's journal which is pretty cute: LJ LOLcats! Here's mine. Some of them are pretty funny.

Yesterday I was trying to explain why exactly I use a client for my LJ to [livejournal.com profile] soleta_nf. I'm not sure exactly how to explain it, really. I guess it's because it seems easier to use than posting at the website. Plus the fact that if you lose power in the middle of a post, it'll save it for you where you left off. *nods* I think that's my main reason, right there. Yeppers.

Now, off to read more H/G fics! *giggles again*

Thanks to those who responded to my last post. This one is just to let everyone know things are better now. I found the problem (I accidentally skipped posting a page), and was able to fix it. The rest of the day went smoothly. We were treated with pizza today since our department didn't have any errors in posting for 6 months. Go us!

And a birthday shout out to [livejournal.com profile] lizardali! *tosses confetti*

I am tearing through HBP! And I fully fess up to giggling madly at the shipper moments. I'm such a girl. Now I know I'm going to be willing DH to come out in paperback really soon... I dunno how long my willpower is gonna last.

Sorry I haven't been on AIM lately. First my Internet was wonky, then no one was on when I was, so I kinda didn't log in.

Our AC is on the fritz. It's leaking. We always seem to get the leaky ones. The one at the house leaked because the pump didn't work and the landlord didn't do squat to fix it. *eyeroll*

Today went OK. despite by burning desire to stay in bed. But then, I always feel like that of a morning, especially Monday morning.

This weekend was really fun. It would've been more fun if I had someone to go on the roller coasters with, but ah well. It was blazing hot though. The water rides were the most popular for obvious reasons. That was one of the rides mom actually went on with me. We got the Express Pass, which was worth every penny, lemme tell ya. No more waiting 90 minutes to get on a ride (seriously). You practically walk right on.

We also got a lot of sun. Mom especially. We had lots of sun screen on, but the Florida sun it relentless. It can burn through sheet metal... But mom also went to a nature thing on Sunday, so that contributed more to her lobster-like appearance.

I'm more than halfway finished with OotP. It's a really good read and I'm quite enjoying it. But I'm mostly wanting to finish it so I can read HBP and squee at a few scenes. I wonder how long DH will take to come out in paperback. I'm getting anxious.

I might have to wait a bit for Tori tickets. I spent a shitload of money over the weekend and I need to wait for my coffers to refill. *le sigh*

Well, if you couldn't guess by now, I'm sick. I caught the cold that's been going around. Fun. So I went to work for a little bit and when there was nothing really for me to do, I went home... at about 10:30. Yeah, I know. Generally I stay until after lunch, but my concentration was pretty well shot and I had the general feeling of "ugh" as it was.

I didn't do much this weekend because of sickness. I still want to go to the comic book store sometime and pick up the latest issue of Buffy. It seems I can never find the opportunity to on the weekends because we're generally doing so much other stuff.

It seems that some of you are concerned that you missed my birthday based on an earlier post of mine. Rest assured, you haven't. It's this Friday, the 27th. I wrote that post as a way of venting my frustrations on the previous patterns on birthday related activities in regards to certain members of my family.

Mom is home this week on vacation. She plans on trying to get things done around the house that she's been meaning to but hasn't had the opportunity. Me, I'll believe it when I see it. Usually she gets so involved in her Genealogy stuff, she tends to forget about the other stuff she wanted to do...

Well, in regards to my plans for today, hopefully I'll get a bite to eat and then most likely veg since I don't feel like doing much of anything. Tomorrow I have to stay for the regular working hours (which sometimes varies depending on what needs to be done and so forth).

And for those it applies to, I hope you enjoyed reading the final Harry Potter book. Feel free to discuss whatever you wish since even though I haven't read it, I pretty much know what happened.

One of these days, I may stay at work for a whole day. Today's reason for coming home early? The network was down. And since I can't do anything when the network is down, I decided to pack it in and go home. Dunno what's gonna happen tomorrow.

Tomorrow mom and I are going out to dinner so she can use a gift certificate that the doctor she works for gave her. Sweet!

I GET TO SEE HARRY TOMORROW!!!

This is actually pretty exciting for me... which goes to show the type of dull life I lead. Anyway, a group of us from work are going tomorrow evening. Hopefully I'll be able to get off work early in order to go home and change clothes. I'd rather not go to the movie in my work clothes. But, just in case, I'll wear clothes I can wear to the movies.

The midnight showing was cheaper, but since it's opening on a weekday, Id rather not be a zombie in the morning. If I was still on my old schedule where I wasn't working on Wednesday, I might've considered it.
