Well, I got my eyes examined. Truthfully, I really didn't feel like I needed to, but I wanted to get contacts again and get some new frames and prescription sunglasses. Turns out, I have astigmatism in my left eye. I always noticed my left eye being slightly off, but to have moderate to severe astigmatism in it! Whoa! Maybe I should wear a patch over it and use just my right eye to see, like a pirate. And I have to have specially fitted contacts to wear in that eye. My right eye can take regular contacts, but since apparently the shape of my left eye is off too, I have to have different lenses for my left one. Thicker ones according to the optometrist. And contacts aren't exactly covered on my insurance plan.
I did find me some cute and funky frames to wear, though. I wanted to have them by Sunday so I could show my family, but they're not gonna be ready until Tuesday. I also got some sweet sunglasses I'm gonna have my prescription put in. Needless to say, this whole thing set me back a bit. Luckily I got paid today, even if it did take most of my paycheck. I don't have to pay for my contacts until I actually get them, so that helps. And they're disposable, so If I get two boxes of one eye each, they can last me two months if I stretch them out and not wear them everyday.
Mom's left eye also seems to have gotten worse. I tell ya, what a pair we make, eh? She also picked out some nice frames. Not as funky and hip as mine, but stylish. I told her she couldn't make any final decisions without my approval.
Driving home was interesting. What with the sunshine in my freshly dilated eyes and the myriad of lights that were shone in them, I'm surprised I'm not blinder than I already am.
One of our neighbor's died today. As I was heading to my car this morning, I saw a white unmarked van in the parking lot near our building. I lingered for a bit, wondering what it was doing here, then two people took out a gurney and I kinda clued in, especially since the van definitely wasn't an ambulance. I called mom later on as I was further down the street and told her about it (since she stayed home today because of various appointments she had). She called me later and told me it was the husband of one of our very nice neighbor ladies who likes to feed the local ducks. She said she plans on sending her our condolences sometime. I said that was very nice of us to do. It seems her husband has had various health problems, so it must've been nice for him to pass away at home where he was somewhere familiar.
I've decided to brave the depths of HP fanart and fanfic. Like I've said before, this fandom can be kinda scary, so I'm gonna tread carefully. Some images I don't need to have burned into my brain... Ratings are my guide. *clings*
Oh, and I got a new icon too. *points and giggles*
And finally, for some whimsy, I'm gonna post two pictures of myself in a way no one has seen me before!

And yes, Fandom can be scarring. Heck I did a big joke about hermione pairings and how freaky that gets.
If you need fanfic illustrations, give me a ring XD

The whole LJ upheaval was in part set in motion by HP fanart. So I'm extremely cautious. But the kind of stuff I like is pretty safe and strictly canon, so I should be OK.
Sure!! I love seeing your art!

Glad you have some good glasses.

I've come across a few that were decent and non-scary however.
