snapdragon76: (Tamaki and Haruhi)
So yesterday was my birthday. I turned 39. I don’t feel 39. Well, not emotionally. Physically things have started to go a little downhill, mostly my back. I had a low-key birthday, which was fine. Mom fixed my favorite meal for dinner, which was excellent. I had a lot of people write birthday greetings on my wall on Facebook and I got some cards in the mail. Maybe once we get a little more income coming in, we can celebrate. I still owe mom for her birthday last month. I hope to do something special next year for my 40th birthday. Maybe I’ll be on the cusp of employment by then…

I ordered a few things from Amazon with a gift card I got from my dad and step-mom, which arrived today. I got a BluRay of the last Hobbit film and a few graphic novels. I tried not to go overboard, since I couldn’t pay for shipping on my own, so I had to make sure the gift amount covered both the purchases and shipping. I’m still glad with what I got.

I left a message with my bank saying they can stop calling my house and leaving notes in my mailbox informing me of how little I have in my bank account. I have access to online banking as well as a mobile app. I can keep track of how little I have that way, thank you very much. Save a tree and stop calling me!

I haven’t received my Praxis scores yet. It’s kind of frustrating. I need to have more patience in the matter. If only…

I also looked up to see when I’d be receiving my student loan, and it said sometime around the 19th of August. Classes start on the 24th and I hope it’ll be enough time to buy my books and whatever else I’ll need before classes start. I have a meeting with one of the librarians I’ll be working with on Friday in order to set up a schedule for my Practicum. I haven’t heard from the other one yet, but I emailed her work and I don’t know when classes start at the school, so I don’t know when she’ll read it.

I also turned in the paperwork I needed for my Intent to Graduate at the Graduate Services Office a few weeks ago. I got an email saying they received it and that the procedures will be started for graduation. So there’s that taken care of.

And I think this is the most I’ve posted in quite a while…

Today was pretty awesome! I'm utterly exhausted, but I loved every minute of it so it was well worth it.

EPCOT was cool as always. I got a button with my name on it that said Happy Birthday, that way people (mostly employees) could greet me and stuff. It was very weird in a way! Me, who doesn't like attention drawn to her!

Anyway, I got my FastPass for Mission: Space which I had to come back for later. Meanwhile mom and I toured the World Showcase, which has always been a favorite of ours. Mom liked Mexico a lot. She had a real hankering for some enchilada's but no one served any...

The Viking ride in Norway was closed when we got there, so we weren't able to go on that unfortunately. We went to China and then Germany. We spent more time in Germany because of our family ties. Mom chatted up one of the German cast members about our German family ties.

We went to the American pavilion whee we took in the show there. Mom and I always liked that show. And we always get a little choked up at the very end. Every. Time.

Then I had to hustle back to the Mission: Space ride so I could get on using my FastPass. It was fun. Mom wouldn't have liked it though...

Then mom and I hit the World Showcase again with Canada this time. I told one of the cast members from Nova Scotia that I knew someone who live there. [livejournal.com profile] umadoshi, were your ears burning? LOL! We went to see the film they have which was neat because I got to see the places a lot of my Canadian friends talk about so much!

Then we went to England where we ate at the pub there. I actually tried some ale there, but I didn't drink much of it because I dislike bitterness and beer is bitter! But, I can say I tried it! I also had some fish and chips which was very good! Cod is a nice mild fish.

The heat was starting to get to mom, so we had to move it along some. We skimmed by France and Morocco. We lingered more in Japan because I wanted to look in the gift shop. Biiiig mistake. I saw a lot of neat stuff, like Naruto and Bleach plushies. I also saw the Hitsugaya and Urahara action figures which I contemplated getting (at least Toshiro). Then I saw Domo! I've always wanted a Domo! So I got him and a charm for car instead. Besides, I figure I can order Toshiro from Entertainment Earth like I did Ichigo and Rukia.

By this time we made full circle. We wandered (slowly this time since we were in pain from walking all day) to see if we could go on the Soarin' ride. No go. The wait was 85 minutes! We had FastPasses, but they were only good starting at 8:24! We were drained of energy by this time, so we decided to head out. We stopped by the gift store where I spent too much money (-_-). [livejournal.com profile] secondlina I thought of you when I bought my pin trading lanyard today: it was Nightmare Before Christmas and had Jack and Sally pins on it! I saw adorable WALL-E and EVE plushies, but I didn't get them...

So, now we come to the pictures! It's going to be like the last time, where I uploaded them onto a site that makes them into a nice little slideshow., I figure it'd be easier this way instead of linking to somewhere where you had to slog through them individually.

Enjoy!

Yesterday was my birthday!! It was pretty fun! Mom and I went to eat at Cracker Barrel, then we went to go and see Mamma Mia! again. Then we went to the bookstore where I got a few things (of course) and then to Kohl's because mom is looking for something to go over a shell she wants to wear. She didn't find anything, but I found a few pair of undies to go with my sundresses. We stopped by Target afterward because mom said she'd seen Spelt bread in there before. She crapped out this time, although I was able to find some Oolong tea. I haven't had any yet, so I don't know how it tastes.

Saturday was our spa day. First was the massage, which was reeeeeeally nice. Mom and I both thought we'd fall asleep in the middle. Mom was worried that she'd snore. Then it was time for our manicures. We had to wait a bit because there was a bridal party beforehand and they were a little late. They were also a little tipsy since they downed two bottles of champagne. Still, it was a very nice experience. I do believe we'll be doing it again.

Mom also picked up a Red Velvet cake that my aunt made for me! Mmmmm! I already had two slices. I wanna try to eat as many slices I can so I'd not have to freeze the majority of it.

Sunday evening we spent packing. I was able to do the majority of it, so I won't have to do it at the last minute on Tuesday. I already packed up my Wii and a few of my games. I just need to pack my toiletries and my laptop as well as my DS and my camera. Those can wait until tomorrow most likely.

Work today was kinda dull. I only got one packet of charges and no check. I dunno what'll happen tomorrow. I'm not gonna be able to get much done on Wednesday since I'll be leaving early that day. I did get a card from a few of my co-workers, so that was sweet of them.

Today in History: 1933
The singing telegram was introduced. The first person to receive a singing telegram was singer Rudy Vallee, in honor of his 32nd birthday.

Friday! Yay!!

Anyway, I stopped by mom's work so she could help me sort out my benefits package. I decided to get basic medical coverage as well as dental (I have a cavity) and vision. I also got Life Insurance (hey, you never know). I have to "re-negotiate" in January, in which I'll probably switch some things out. It takes effect at the beginning of August. I have to turn my paperwork into HR on Monday.

I'm going to look into getting my Wii soon. I dunno if I'll decide to go online and get it (like I did my laptop and my iPod) or go into a store. The store don't seem to have any. I do want to do a few errands on Saturday... possibly. I do want to swing by the comic shop because I'm missing my latest issue of Buffy.

I did manage to pick up a few manga titles yesterday. Samurai Deeper Kyo 23 and Trinity Blood 3. Still no Hellsing 8. But then, Dark Horse has a tendency to be late a lot of the times... I might post about them on [livejournal.com profile] ryudoshi eventually.

Wow, I never expected to get over 40 responses to my Pod People post on [livejournal.com profile] mst3k. Kewl!

I'm still trying to narrow down where I wanna go for my birthday: Disney/MGM Studios or Islands of Adventure. Now keep in mind, this is hinged on where the "Build You Own Lightsaber" exhibit is. I know it's Disney, but I don't know if it's in the park itself or not. Should I post a poll on this?

Well, tomorrow mom and I are going to go see Ratatouille sometime which I'm kinda excited about because it looks really cute.

Dad, your package arrived yesterday and now it's sitting on a chair in the dining room, taunting me seductively. Mom says I can't open it until Thursday and I just know she's gonna make me wait until she gets home from work, the meanie.

I've been toying with buying more icon space with my LJ Gift Certificate. It costs $10 for a years worth and the Gift Certificate is for $15 and it can only be used once. But I'm seriously considering it. But since I have 112 already, I wonder if I could actually buy more or if there's a limit.

And you all are undoubtedly curious as to my subject line. Well... my friend Stampers has started on her 'Keeper' story on ATACT and one of the characters from the original book series is Dean McIssac, a very attractive young man who happens to be extremely sweet and well intentioned. So, a good target for stalking. He also happens to look a lot like Tom Welling in my mind's eye (thus the userpic), so that just makes him all the more drool-iscious. Now, ordinarily I'm not one to objectify anyone, but I figure us women have had our fair share of it, so now it's the guys' turn. Besides, a bunch of us on there are fully armed hormone bombs as it is.

I was successful in my hard drive clean up yesterday. Well, not a "clean up" in the truest sense of the word, more like some image saving and removal. Now maybe I have some more space. Maybe.

I think mom deleted to rest of the 'Angel' episodes I had waiting for me on the DVR. *grumbles* I hadn't watched them yet either...

And I haven't been getting a lot of comments on my journal recently. I know there are certain lag times and stuff, but it kind of makes me wonder if anyone is reading.

As for today, I need to take a shower, clean the kitchen floor and... that's about it. Maybe I'll actually get around to watching my 'Fushigi Yuugi' DVD's so I can turn them in. But I've said that before...

Trivia of the day: The dark spots on the moon that create the benevolent "man in the moon" image are actually basins filled 3 to 8 kilometers deep with basalt, a dense mineral, which causes immense gravitation variations.
