snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (H/G - *giggles*)
The most absurd (at least to me) thing happened to me today. I was listening to my Internet radio station like I usually do at work. Then I get this e-mail form this bigwig in the IT Dept. saying that I was violating protocol because I was listening to the radio. WTF?!?! Apparently listening to "streaming music stations" prevents the screen saver to activate. This is important because you have to have a password in order to deactivate the screen saver once it activates. The screen saver annoys me anyway because you have to type in your password and it's all a big hassle. They said non compliance would lead to "disciplinary action." Whatever. Big Brother is watching you again. And they made sure they stopped "surveillance" on me once I shut it down. Luckily I still had my iPod on me. *grumbles* What is this, a Fascist state?!

Anyway, this weekend was fairly uneventful. Saturday was spent running errands. It took longer than expected, so I didn't get to try to connect my camera to my laptop like I had wanted. I did cave and bought Deathly Hallows instead of waiting for it to come out in paperback. I decided I couldn't hold out any longer. I spent most of Sunday at a family get together reading it. I would've probably finished it by now if I didn't need to do things like, sleep or eat and the like.

I'll probably post my thoughts once I completely finish it, but I will say I giggled madly during a certain scene in Chapter Seven. *points to icon*

Annnnd I got my new glasses! My sunglasses weren't ready yet along with mom's, but my regular ones were!

Geek Chic!

If you squint, you might be able to see the reflection of my computer screen on the lenses.

I also just bought LotF Inferno today! However, any other reading is being set aside until I finish DH...

Well, I got my eyes examined. Truthfully, I really didn't feel like I needed to, but I wanted to get contacts again and get some new frames and prescription sunglasses. Turns out, I have astigmatism in my left eye. I always noticed my left eye being slightly off, but to have moderate to severe astigmatism in it! Whoa! Maybe I should wear a patch over it and use just my right eye to see, like a pirate. And I have to have specially fitted contacts to wear in that eye. My right eye can take regular contacts, but since apparently the shape of my left eye is off too, I have to have different lenses for my left one. Thicker ones according to the optometrist. And contacts aren't exactly covered on my insurance plan.

I did find me some cute and funky frames to wear, though. I wanted to have them by Sunday so I could show my family, but they're not gonna be ready until Tuesday. I also got some sweet sunglasses I'm gonna have my prescription put in. Needless to say, this whole thing set me back a bit. Luckily I got paid today, even if it did take most of my paycheck. I don't have to pay for my contacts until I actually get them, so that helps. And they're disposable, so If I get two boxes of one eye each, they can last me two months if I stretch them out and not wear them everyday.

Mom's left eye also seems to have gotten worse. I tell ya, what a pair we make, eh? She also picked out some nice frames. Not as funky and hip as mine, but stylish. I told her she couldn't make any final decisions without my approval.

Driving home was interesting. What with the sunshine in my freshly dilated eyes and the myriad of lights that were shone in them, I'm surprised I'm not blinder than I already am.

One of our neighbor's died today. As I was heading to my car this morning, I saw a white unmarked van in the parking lot near our building. I lingered for a bit, wondering what it was doing here, then two people took out a gurney and I kinda clued in, especially since the van definitely wasn't an ambulance. I called mom later on as I was further down the street and told her about it (since she stayed home today because of various appointments she had). She called me later and told me it was the husband of one of our very nice neighbor ladies who likes to feed the local ducks. She said she plans on sending her our condolences sometime. I said that was very nice of us to do. It seems her husband has had various health problems, so it must've been nice for him to pass away at home where he was somewhere familiar.

I've decided to brave the depths of HP fanart and fanfic. Like I've said before, this fandom can be kinda scary, so I'm gonna tread carefully. Some images I don't need to have burned into my brain... Ratings are my guide. *clings*

Oh, and I got a new icon too. *points and giggles*

And finally, for some whimsy, I'm gonna post two pictures of myself in a way no one has seen me before!

eBay is my friend today. I was looking up a coloring book I used to own (and still have... somewhere) and I was amazed and surprised to see it listed on eBay! I dunno if I'll get my hands on it though. If I do, I'm leaving it pristine! If I wanna color it, I'll scan the pages and print them off. There's also a set of paper dolls too! I've never seen those before! *plots*

I'm almost finished with HBP. And yes, I was giggling like a fiend in a couple of places. *giggles* I'll have to restrain myself from getting DH before it comes out in paperback. I'm waiting because the rest of my books in the series are in paperback, it's less expensive and there's an issue of space. I will be strong!

The A/C is still broken. We've stuffed sheets and put containers to catch water until they finally finish. Every time I ask how long it's gonna take, they always say "Tomorrow." Suuuuure.

And, something I got from [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda's journal which is pretty cute: LJ LOLcats! Here's mine. Some of them are pretty funny.

Yesterday I was trying to explain why exactly I use a client for my LJ to [livejournal.com profile] soleta_nf. I'm not sure exactly how to explain it, really. I guess it's because it seems easier to use than posting at the website. Plus the fact that if you lose power in the middle of a post, it'll save it for you where you left off. *nods* I think that's my main reason, right there. Yeppers.

Now, off to read more H/G fics! *giggles again*
