No, you're not reading the time wrong. I am in fact, posting at almost 10:00 at night. Why, you may ask? Simple. Life beckoned me for two days, so I went to it.

Seriously, my dad came to visit me for a couple of days, so I was with him doing stuff as opposed to posting. Which is also why I didn't post yesterday. Actually, the real reason he came down (from Michigan) was to help my grandma move her things from across the state to the apartment she got in Michigan closer to where my dad lives. So, while she packed her things, he decided to drop by and pay me a visit for a bit. It was nice. We had fun. We did a bunch of different things like go to the zoo and go on an airboat ride and stuff. I had wanted to see 'V for Vendetta' with him, but I guess we were too late, because it wasn't in theaters anymore. *shrugs*

Anyway, onto other things: Read more... )

So, needless to say, a few of my fandoms have spit in my eye lately. *flails*

I also starting reading a new book series (What? Another one?) They're by Laura Joh Rowland. It's a detective series set in fudal Japan. I'm more than halfway through the first book I got (although not the first one in the series) called The Concubine's Tattoo. I want to get the rest of them. Isn't that all I need. Yet another book obsession...

I just got finished cleaning out the dresser I've been using. The lady we live with is going to be selling it this weekend at her yard sale, so she needs it 'available.' I've packed as much of my stuff as I can into my suitcases. I managed to get it all in there, with a bit of luck and persistance. She's also going to be selling my bed. Luckily I have a sleeping bag I can crash on. It might prove interesting. Now I'll get to truly sleep Japanese style!!

Well, I'm going to try to catch up with two days worth of Friend's List. Wish me luck...*whimpers*

Trivia of the day: President Benjamin Harrison and the first lady never touched the light switches themselves when electric lights were installed during the renovation of the White House in 1891. Fearing shock, they would call for a servant whenever they wanted the lights on or off.

I have about seven injuries! They're relentless! The little BLOODSUCKERS!!!!! RAWR!!!

I think the flea treatments aren't working. *sigh* Not only is it bothersome for the herd we have here, but for the humans present as well. We didn't have a cold enough winter to kill them off, so they're attacking at full force. When I die, I must remember to ask God why on Earth He made fleas, mosquitoes and cockroaches. None of which serve a purpose.

Since I had a late start yesterday and I had to leave for the biggest portion of the day, I need to catch up with the FL that I missed. As well as finish downloading the Akito fanmix [livejournal.com profile] flamika has made. So far I have... one song. I'll snag the rest the second time around.

And I hear that those of use with 100 icons get four more! Now to decide which ones they'll be... It's not like I don't have a ton to choose from... Maybe one more Furuba one, one more FMA one, one more Death Note one and perhaps one more Kenshin one.

I've been itching to change my layout again, but I feel bad about loosing Takumi... Maybe I can make him my wallpaper...

Cleaning-wise yesterday didn't do so bad. I wasn't chained to the sink. I was out on the porch with everyone else. I had a basin of sudsy water I could use to clean things up with if needed. The majority of the actual washing is done. I did clean some old picture frames which went well... until I cut my thumb on one of the panes of glass. And of course, it was the thumb on my right hand, which I use all the time. It hurt too. After that was over, mom stopped by after work and helped out some, then she made a Whataburger run for us (yummmmmm). After we ate, my mom and aunt cleaned some of grandma's old jewelry. Some of the nicer pieces they kept for themselves (just a few earrings and the like. My aunt took a few charms for her daughter since her and my grandmother had the same initials). I cleaned a few of the earrings that had corroded metal on them with this stuff called Maas. It really works well. Then, because I was a glutton for punishment, I cleaned a brass candelabra (a small one. Three sticks). It took a long time to do that one. I used up most of the tube of Maas. I hope Wal-Mart carries it so I can get some. I know they sell it online.

So this morning I'm all about washing my sheets (to hopefully kill any flea residue. I said hopefully) and wash dishes (in the dishwasher. HA!). Then I want to stop by Barnes and Noble to see if they have any new manga in or not. I wish they'd sell 'Shojo Beat' but they don't for some reason...

Have a good weekend, everyone!!

Trivia of the day: Death Valley in southern California is the lowest point in the United States at 282 feet below sea level. The highest point in the contiguous 48 states is also in California: Mount Whitney, which is 14,491 feet above sea level.

Hello!! I'm back! Sorry it took so long, but I only got internet access today and then I had a doctor's appointment. I nearly went stir crazy. But boy to have have a lot of catching up to do. Nearly two weeks worth. I was going to try and do the majority of it tomorrow, but since I'm going to EPCOT, I don't think I'll be able to.

Anyway, I know everyone is all anxious to hear about how the move went, so here goes...

Moving:

Saturday was the big day. Our POD was delivered (and it was super neat seeing how they set it up) and ready to be loaded. At first, it was just a few of us gals and we couldn't really get started since we needed to load the heavy stuff in first, so we basically just trucked everything onto the carport. Mom was beginning to panic slightly since she was starting to wonder where her heavy lifters were. but they eventually showed up and we got underway. Our neighbors across the street helped us a lot. The husband was wondering if everything was going to be able to fit and he began asking if we had any other options in case we weren't able to fit everything into the POD. He was told we didn't. I was mostly disassembling stuff. Like my massive bookcase (which looks like this in case you were wondering. And yes, I did have a time packing up all of that stuff that was on it), as well as our two waterbeds. Lemme tell ya, draining them was just loads of fun. /sarcasm. Anyway, after I did all that, I just helped load as much as I could. We got the majority of it in. There were only a few things that couldn't fit, but we found a place for that stuff where we are now, out of the way a bit. By the end of the day, my feet were hurting so much I just wanted to chop them off. Anyway, we had finished the majority and loaded our cars with the stuff we had planned on bringing with us. I took a box of my most frequently read manga (I couldn't get away with bringing all of it), a box of DVD's (again, not all of them), my computer, pillows, some clothes and a few other personal effects. After we dropped them off, we had to come back for the cats, who were shut away in one of the bathrooms so they wouldn't get underfoot.

The next day, we had to come back after church so we could do some clean-up. Mom and a lady from the church tackled the kitchen and I swept the floors of the many layers of cat hair that couldn't be reached during the course of living there. I also switched out the switchplates to the crappy generic ones that were there before instead of our nice wooden ones. I also had to direct these two gentlemen who loaned us their truck so we could haul a few things to various places that never would've fit in either of our two cars. When we first got there, our landlord was there, casing the place. He asked if were were going to be moved out by Monday. We said we were. I kept thinking to myself, "What, we're not moving out fast enough for you?!" I'd call him a horse's ass, but it's insulting to horses.

Needless to say, we got everything out that were were going to get out. I feel a little sorry for the garbage man that had to take a look at all the stuff we were throwing out.

Settling In:

The place we're at now, it's pretty nice. My bedroom is a shade smaller, but I've been able to cope. I pretty much got everything where I want it to be, so it feels a bit more "homey." We haven't gotten our mail just yet, but hopefully we'll start soon enough. We filled out an application to the apartments we're trying to get into. Now we're officially on the waiting list. We took a tour of the model and they look very nice. Smaller than what we're used to, but that's to be expected. We may have to do some adjustments. But mom did say she'd let me have the Master Bedroom, only because it has a tub and the second bathroom has a standing shower which would be easier for her to get in and out of due to her knees. I said, "I can live with that."

The cats stay mostly in our rooms. Basically because they're too scared to go much further due to the dog here. He's a really sweet, well behaved poodle who likes cats, but the cats haven't really taken to him yet. Besides, I think they'll have the most problem with the other cat that lives here. The only trouble he gets in is going to the bathroom where he shouldn't. That's why whenever he's out, we leave our doors closed. Neither one of us wants any 'surprises' on our beds. Mom is able to have a TV in her room, but I don't have a connection in mine, so I watch TV in the little room next to the computer room. It's not too bad, but I still like being able to lay on my bed while I watch.

Fandom:

In fandom news, I haven't really been able to keep up with the happenings since I usually do that online. I've been trying to make a mental list of the series that will be coming out in the next few months so I can keep track of what I'll be needing to get. It's a bit hard. I got a few months reprieve, but now all sorts of stuff will be coming out soon: SDK, TriMax, Kenshin, DN, Hot Gimmick, Saiyuki Reload, Furuba, ect... I was able to make a few icons since I had the extra time. They're finishing up my Suzaku Seishi set. Hopefully, I'll be able to concentrate on getting my icon journal spiffed up some so I can post more icons on it, but here's the ones I've done:

Not too bad. I might want to see if I can do some 'Kaze Hikaru' ones since I have a couple of nice images from that....

Personal:

Not much has been happening with me personally aside from the move. I'm still looking for employment since I no longer work at the guitar place. I haven't heard anything from the bookstore yet and mom gave me an application for where she works because sometimes data entry positions open up. From what I hear, they pay pretty decent and there'll be benefits. Sweet.

Well, that's all for now. I'm going to attempt to go through my FL and catch up on almost two weeks worth of posts from everyone. Which is a chore in itself... *groans*
