Man, after the day I had yesterday, having a day off is just what I need. I didn't want to go out today, but I had to pick up some things for a mini-scanning book I needed and I got some books while I was out as well (naturally). I also finally managed to wash my car after I had been intending to for quite some time now.
I was contemplating going to the exercise room sometime today, and I really haven't decided if I want to yet or not. I need to watch some of my Netflix so I can turn them back in and get my next ones. I'll probably be doing that. I also plan on running the dishwasher and finishing up some laundry.
Sometime I'd like to try to change out my icons again...
Well, the time has come to reveal my Darth Who name choice. *drum roll please*
Darth Acheron!!
Ta-Daaaa!!! Now, my reasoning for picking it is fairly simple, actually. I wanted to try and find something that was a bit on the mythical side yet also sounded good with Darth and had a deeper meaning. Not so easy. So I looked through my big ol' book of names, and wouldn't you know there was a section for Mythological Names. I scanned through it, and came across Acheron. I tried it out and looked at the meaning. According to the book, the meaning is:
"Derived from the Greek achos (pain), Acheron (river of woe) is found in Greek mythology as the name of a river in Hades, across which Charon ferried the dead. "AH-eh-run)"
I thought to myself "Excellent! This would make a great name for a Dark Lord of the Sith!" So I submitted it and didn't think much about it until a month or so ago when it was chosen as one of the finalists! Needless to say, I was quite surprised!
Now, there have been a few who complained that it was too rooted in Earth mythology. To them I say, Boo-Hoo! So are a lot of the other names that have been used! "Vader" means "father" in German, "Sidious" and "Tyrannus" are Earth based. And what the hell do you think "Mon Calamari" means?! It's seafood for Pete's sake!! Get over it, ya crybabies!!
Anyway, only the winner will be notified and I don't know how long it'll take to tally the votes and all since it was an online contest. So if I don't hear anything, I'll know I didn't win. Still, it kicks ass just to have been a finalist! *fist pump*
