snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (PotO -- touched (cleolinda))
Well, I am somewhat a member of the working force. I agreed to take the job at the shop. I don't start for two weeks and I have flexible hours, which I'm happy about.

I rewatched 'The Phantom of the Opera' over the weekend. I somewhat 'blame' [livejournal.com profile] dracschick since she writes a few Dracula/Phantom stories. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. I watched the extras disk as well and it has a lot of interesting stuff on it. One of the features was how the musical got started and all of that. It was really interesting. Another one, of course, was about how the movie got started. That was also really interesting. They had interviews with all the actors who were in it. This was the first time I heard Gerard Butler talk and I admit he has a really cute Scottish brogue. I liked how they compared the Phantom to the 'bad boy' of sorts. And you know how the girls go for the bad boys. Raoul is sorta the safe, bland whitebread sorta guy while the Phantom is the rough-around-the-edges, sexy guy. At least, in the movie. The director wanted to make certain the actors they picked were young, since it would convey more of the innocence of the romance part. Especially Christine. It made more sense that way.

I also watched 'Saiyuki Requiem' that I got from Netflix. I really liked it. The animation was cleaner of course, since it was made for a theatrical release. Dougan (the villian) was pretty cute, actually even as a demon (or should I say especially as a demon). A complete raving psychotic, but still cute.

Mom's home sick from work. She went in for a bit, but then her doctor (who shares a suite with the one she works for) told her to go home. She thinks it might be a bronchial infection of some sort. Whatever it is, it better not be contagious. *wears a mask, just in case* Right now she's watching a movie in the living room. Just as long as we don't get in each other's hair, I'll be fine.

Kudus on the job. Hope it goes well for you.

Thank you. I think I'l be OK.

I just have to not let my natural worrying tendancy take over...

Just don't expect that you'll know all you need to know the first day, or even the first week, or possibly even the first month. Any job requires time to learn the "ins and outs." You'll be fine. You already know technology, or else you wouldn't be as savvy on the PC as you are.

I've got faith in you. Hang in there.

Thanks.

I'm going to be looking into books on various Web stuff. Not just for there, but personal use too.

That's a good idea. You can never learn too much, IMO.

SHE SHOULDA STAYED WITH THE PHANTOM! *cough cough*

Why yes, I"m extremely opinionated, what gave you that idea? ^_~

*wink*
I agree!! He was hot! I mentioned this to mom when we saw it in the theater, too.

And his disfigurement wasn't that bad! I mean, come on! He was just a little burned on the one side! It can be overlooked!

So what if he was a little homicidal...

You have the most hilarious icons. *cackle*

Indeed! Though in the book his disfigurement was horrible. Still, he's such an amazingly complex character. I wish they'd reprint Susan Kay's "Phantom" novel. Wow.

Who cares if he's a little homicidal? So's every other fictional character I've fallen for. Kyo, Akira, etc.

I got them from [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda. She runs a site called [livejournal.com profile] m15m. It's hilarious. You should check them out.

I'm in the middle of reading the original novel and it's really quite compelling!

It's the crazy ones that make life interesting!

Oooh, thanks! I shall have to check that site out!

Yes, yes it is. And Kay's version, if you can find one for a decent price (it's Out of Print) kind of combines the original novel with the musical as far as storyline goes, and fleshes out a LOT of Erik's background. Both are amazing reads. *makes note to reread her own copies soon*

Yes, yes it is!

It's a must...

I'l have to see if I can scrape up a copy. Maybe the local library has one. I just renewed my library card, so...

(I know, I'm a poor excuse for a bibliophile).

In fact, I have an icon idea along those lines...

hope your Mom feels better too.

pssst...My Phantom character is actually based on the Crawford one since I started writing back in 90. However, readers of both camps (Crawford and Butler) are able to read my stuff so I'm happy.

PS--Watching Phantom is good. Glad I could be of some help in corrupting you:)

Thank you!

And nothing against Crawford. I mean, I think he's a really excellent Phantom, but since I've seen the movie version more often, that's who I tend to associate with...

:P
