I know I said I wasn't going to use any of the stickers that came with my Fan Guide, but I wanted to decorate my cellphone somehow, mostly to distinguish it from my mom's so I did it. I put two of the stickers on my cellphone. I have Kureno (bird form) on the front and Hatori (seahorse) on the back, I didn't really have room for anyone else, so I couldn't put Haru or Rin on there, so I stuck with my fave character and my zodiac. I'll take a picture sometime and post it. Now I need to find a strap of some sort...
This weekend was a busy one for me. I went to the women's conference over the weekend. It was really fun. I'll try to break it down as much as I can.
Friday:
I left the house about 8:40 so I could make to the house where I was carpooling from. I was the first one there, as I inevitably am most of the time. So I waited a bit for the rest of the ladies who were traveling with us to arrive. They did and we loaded up the van and set off. Mom had left the night before since she was going to do the all day thing and I didn't want to. Which was fine with me, because the way we did it, I could go shopping!
The actual conference itself wasn't until the evening, so the majority of the time, aside from travel, was spent at the mall. Now the first mall we went to, the Florida Mall, is pretty nice. It's bigger than the local mall here. There's a lot more stores too (still no Suncoast, though). I didn't really buy anything even though I saw a pair of jeans and a few shirts in at the Gap, since I wanted to save the majority of my money for food. I browsed inside the Disney Store since I was looking for a cellphone strap, but I didn't find any. I did stop by the Waldenbooks in there. It was a nice one. Huuuuge selection of manga. I was in heaven. And I wept for the fact that there isn't one here locally. Anyway, while there I bought the latest issues of Newtype and Shojo Beat. I also came across a neat profile book for Rurouni Kenshin. I know I'd probably never see one here, at least not for a very long time. I didn't get any actual manga itself since I had gone on Thursday again and picked up the latest Kenshin volume as well as Death Note 2 and the first volume of Samurai Champloo.
After there, we headed toward the Mall At Millenia, which is like the largest mall in Central Florida, I believe. We were primarily there to eat at the Cheesecake Factory along with some other ladies in a different carpool from ours. I had one of the appetizers for a meal since the portions are usually so large no one person can eat just one. I had the Chicken Pot Stickers which weren't bad. One of the other ladies at our table had something called the Sliders, which were four small hamburgers. I said I'd probably get that next time since they looked to be the right portion for me. For desert (which, frankly, was the main reason for going there) I had ordered a pumpkin cheesecake to split with another lady. It was sooooo good. Better than sex (not that I'd know personally, it just seemed the thing to say). I was tempted to lick the plate after I was finished, it was that good.
We browsed the mall for a bit. We went into some of the higher class stores in which I felt severely out of place. After we finished there, we needed to head towards the Arena where the conference was being held. There was no way we'd be able to drop anything off at the hotel since we didn't have enough time. So we went and we found our seats. As to the conference itself, it was very nice. I mean, Friday night was just some of the evening stuff, so it didn't last very long. The majority of it is on Saturday. After the Friday night session, I had to make sure I was caught up with my carpool since my stuff was still in the van and I wanted to be sure I'd have it with me. So we headed out. Getting out of the parking garage was an adventure in itself due to the fact that the line we were in didn't seem to be going anywhere. So we backed out, much to the annoyance of the people behind us, and went down another way, which seemed to have worked since we were moving a lot quicker.
Let me tell you, we somehow went down the middle of downtown Orlando on a Friday night. All the clubs were active and there were all sorts of people hanging out. It was kinda fun to watch all of the people milling about, club hopping. The majority of the carpool wanted to eat dinner since no one had yet, but I just wanted to get to the room. After a bit, a few others agreed to the same, so we stopped off and were let off while everyone else (2) stopped somewhere to eat. It was like 10:00 at night and I knew I needed to get some sleep since I had to get up pretty darn early the next morning if I wanted to catch my ride. So I went into the room, changed into my pj's and at least read the chapter of Kaze Hikaru in my copy of Shojo Beat before turning in.
Saturday:
Woke up bright and early (too early if you ask me) and got dressed. I cleaned up and dragged my stuff downstairs and imbibed in the continental breakfast at the hotel. No bacon and eggs, but it was pretty nice. I mean, I had a few pieces of toast, some oj and a banana and that was enough to tide me over. After we gathered everyone, we turned our room keys in and piled into the van. Off to the conference once again!
The sessions started at 9:00 and we sat through those. Some were better than others. I mean, the speakers I like (which is the main reason I come) and the songs weren't too bad. The drama bits I can do without, but that's just me. There were a few breaks now and then and a longer one for lunch. I had one of the arena hot dogs with fries which was pretty good. The fries were a bit cold, though. I had some frozen yogurt later on for desert. The only thing with sitting in that area for long periods of time is that your knees start to cramp up. I kept having to shift around in my seat. It was worse for mom due to her knee problems.
After it ended, I went with my carpool since not only did I have my stuff in there, but I had to go back where I started since my car was at the start off point. We again had the same problem with the parking garage and we had to back out and go out another way. We stopped off at Cracker Barrel for dinner. One of the girls had a seasonal pecan coated chicken salad with mandarin oranges and a honey mustard dressing. I tried some of it and it was really good. I told mom later on that I wanted to get one sometime before the season's over with.
All in all, I had a very good time. I'll probably go again next year. This weekend, I plan on calling my friend and see if maybe she'd want to see the new Harry Potter movie with me sometime.
Sorry for the length. Maybe then next few ones wont be as long...
