snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (ES -- Awakening (xskadi))
I hope everyone had a pleasant Christmas. I did. I shall post pictures of my haul later on in the week (possibly tomorrow if I don't get lazy). I was very pleased with what I got. A clue to one of them is in the subject line.

Dinner at my aunt's was also very nice. She always makes such good food. And I enjoy seeing family I usually don't get to see for a good portion of the year. Most of the time there, however, was spent with my nose in a book. It's a loaner but I've seen it in at bookstores and I may buy it at some point. It's called A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly. It's an historical murder mystery but it has a touch of romantic elements to it. It's set in 1906 and it's about a girl named Mattie Gokey who's working in a local hotel for the summer in Upstate New York in order to pay for a way to New York City in order to go to college. One of the guests asks her to destroy some letters for her. Before Mattie can do so, the guest is found dead. Eventually her curiosity gets the better of her and she starts to read the letters in order to find out more about he girl who gave them to her. There are also flashbacks leading up to the current story line telling of her frustrations with living on a farm with her younger siblings and her widowed father. She loves to read and aspires for more than staying in her farming community. Of course, the part I get get giddy about is her blossoming romance with a local boy, Royal Loomis who, as Mattie describes him, is the handsomest boy in the area, broad shouldered and with "wheat-colored hair, and eyes that were the exact color of buckwheat honey." Paraphrased, of course. And of course, being the romantic sap that I am, I gravitate to those parts. I may have to copy down the really cute parts so I can keep 'em. However, I still plan on possibly buying the actual book itself.

Today is not going to be busy. Mom and I may go to Best Buy to browse and so she can see what she wants to get with her gift card she got from the doctor she works for. And possibly Barnes & Noble as well. I got a gift card from a friend for $30.00 for Books-A-Million, so I have to figure out what I want to spend it on. I have several selections to choose from, of course.

My icon I'm using is my Christmas gift from [livejournal.com profile] xskadi. Isn't he it pretty? He's the main character from the manga series "Eternal Sabbath." I did a minor icon shuffle yesterday to make room for some things. Now,I need to look for a trivia site so I can eventually use it for next year's "Trivia of the Day."

And I had to do this post twice since the power went out the first time I was typing...
