Well, this has been a full weekend, I must say. I'll get into details in a minute.
First, I'd like to welcome two new additions to my FL.
sir_hellsing and
shoujo22. Welcome the both of you.
sir_hellsing is the resident 'Hellsing' guru and
shoujo22 was the one who got me obsessed with 'Immortal Rain' to which I will be eternally grateful. Everyone say hi!!
Right now I'm finishing downloading the last 'Veronica Mars' episode I got from BitTorrent. I hadn't planned on doing four at the same time, but my client decided to do it that way, so... It took all night to do them. *ker sigh*
Dad is going to be down tomorrow. Technically he's already in the same state, but he'll actually be in the neighborhood tomorrow. I haven't been called in by the temp agency yet and I figured out why. I sent my resume via e-mail and I thought it went off fine. Turns out, it didn't. *facepalm* It was being held in limbo for two days...
Anyway, onto the activities...
Friday:
Mom wanted me to pick her up early because we we scheduled to look at the duplex that evening. So I did. We sat and waited for the realtor to come by. After what seemed an eternity, she eventually did. So we went and had a look. First impression:
It looked dumpy. I mean, yeah it had more area, but the garage was included in the floor plan, so there really wasn't a whole lot more space. The carpet looked nasty, the walls were dirty and it smelled kinda funky. The one bedroom had a pocket door that led to the guest bathroom, but it was stuck. Really stuck. Then the sliding door that led to the backyard (don't get me started on that), had problems with the lock and difficultly sliding. So afterwards, mom and I both decided it was a no go. The apartment it is! Which, to tell you the truth, was where I kinda wanted to go in the first place. So I was kinda happy, actually.
Then, mom wanted to get something to wear for dinner that night, so we went to a couple of stores and was able to find something at Bealls. She got a discount, too. I personally don't know if I'd be able to buy clothes from Bealls, but I've always been sort of a brand snob anyway... Then, after that, we stopped back by the house so we could change. Then we went to pick up amy aunt and uncle and take them to the restaurant. They were surprised since the one we went to is pretty expensive, but mom had gift cards, so it was all good. One of the valets was pretty cute, too! So we went and had dinner. Mom and I ordered the filet and my aunt and uncle had steaks. Mom ordered an Amaretto Sour and I got an apple-tini. It was really strong, so I had to stick an ice cube in it in order to water it down. We left and waited for our car when the cute valet commented on my necklace (the one
flamika had given me). I told him it meant Year of the Dragon and he mentioned the he was born in the Year of the Dragon, too. I said, "Cool." However, I don't know if it's my year, or twelve years younger. I wasn't able to ask. Mom said later that I was flirting with him. I denied it and said I was just being nice. She didn't believe me.
Afterwards, we stopped off at my aunt and uncle's house and we stayed to chat for a little bit. Then my uncle wanted to get some ice cream, so we stopped by them Marble Slab and got some. Everyone but my aunt got free cones due to having all of our cards filled out. I got my usual, a double chocolate cone mixed with Oreos. Yums! After we finished, we went back and watched the last of the Miss USA pageant, snarking on it the entire time.
Saturday:
There was a company picnic for mom's work being held at the zoo. We haven't gone before in the past due to it conflicting with the retreat that our church has that's usually that same weekend. Since it's not until next weekend, we were able to go. Most of the time we spent wandering around the zoo, while mom was taking pictures. It's really a cute little zoo. The giraffes were in hiding though due to the noise from the picnic in the pavilion, which was right next door. Poor giraffes. Mom got a lot of really good pictures taken. After we had pretty much finished, we stopped by the picnic to grab a bite to eat and then we made a stop at the gift shop and then we shuttled to the car. We went grocery shopping after that and then, instead of going on to Old Navy like we planned (too tired), we swung by the apartments to pay the rest of the security deposit. The lady we usually talk to wasn't there that weekend, so we didn't know for sure the situation in regards to move in day. The guy that was there said he'd leave her a note so that she'd hopefully be able to get ahold of us.
After all of that, we were pretty tired, so we went home and crashed.
Sunday:
After we went to church, we decided to swing by the local art festival and have a look around. I've always liked the art festival because there's all sorts of neat displays and 'exibits.' It was pretty hot, so it drains you quite a bit. After we finished there, we had to stop by Wal-Mart real quick because mom needed a few things. Me, I just wanted to go home. Eventually we did.
My plans for today are finishing up laundry and maybe watch an episode of VM that I downloaded (once it finishes, of course). I want to try to work on my Jiro story some, but I'm kinda fried right now.
I dunno when I'm gonna be on tomorrow.

Trivia of the day: The only living parts of a tree are its thin layer beneath the bark called the cambium, its leaves, and the tips of its roots and branches.
