Well, I saw Shrek 2 yesterday. Two words: hi-larious! I highly recommend watching it. I just loved Puss in Boots! The previews they showed were Spider-Man 2 (wild horses couldn't keep me from watching it), Garfield (too, too cute), and The Incredible's ( I have to wait until the fall for that one. Rats). So, your mission, should you choose to accept it, it to watch Shrek 2.
I got another DVD today. It was one of the Slayers ones (yay). Of course, it was #2 and I kind of need to see #1 first (which is coming Monday). My TriMax manga should be coming soon. *crosses fingers*
OK, here we go. It starts with Angel recruiting the gang in his plan to eliminate the Circle of the Black Thorn. The glamor wears off and he sends them packing, still making it seem to Hamilton that there is distention in the ranks. Then, the group discover that Illyria's been bitch smacked by Hamilton and they all go to Spike's pad (where she had been keeping an eye on Drogyn, the Keeper of the Deeper Well, killed earlier by Angel to gain entry into the Black Thorn)and Wes stays behind to treat her wounds. During this, they discuss what Wes would do being this might be his last night on Earth. Illyria correctly guesses that he would have spent it with Fred. She says she could assume Fred's form again so that he could, but Wes says no. "As a Watcher, we are to distinguish deception from reality. As pleasant as it would be, it'd still be nothing but a lie." (I'm paraphrasing of course). Meanwhile, Angel was at a gathering of the Black Thorn members to discuss the status of his "group." The leader (I forget his name) was concerned about Wes because he felt Wes had enough darkness in him to pose a real threat to Angel. Angel dismissed this idea, of course. The Leader, to prove Angel's loyalty, said he had to give up his claims on the Shanshu Prophesy (where a vampire with a soul would prove instrumental in the Apocalypse and therefore regain his humanity). Angel signed his name in blood (of course) making the Prophesy null and void (ouch). Upon his return, Angel then gives the gang their assignments: Wes was to take out the old, red Warlock (I forget his name, too [ETA: Cyvus Vail]), Spike was to get the Child of Sacrifice from the Fell Brotherhood, Angel was going after the Leader of the Black Thorn, Gunn was to take out the Evil Senator and her vamp-goons, Lorne was to go with Lindsay (I'll get into that in a minute) to take out more members, and Illyria was to take out a demon mob. Harmony asks later what she could do to help. Angel just tells her to distract Hamilton. Angel told Lindsay that after this whole uprising, his position at Wolfram and Hart would be available and he'd like to see Lindsay take it, "I know that's what you've wanted since the beginning anyway." Lindsay is surprised, but accepts anyway, "Better the devil you know, right?" They each spend the day of the attack, doing things they'd might not be able too afterwards: Lorne singing, Spike reading some of the poetry he wrote as William the Bloody (before he was turned) at a coffee house, Lindsay spending time with Eve, Gunn helping out the girl who runs a shelter move into a bigger space (she's from an earlier season), and Angel spends time with his son, Conner, who seems to have regained the majority of his memory, but none of the bitterness that went with it.
Night comes and they all get into position, with Angel tying up loose ends at the office. Hamilton catches up with him, though. It seems as if he's in on the plan. Angel turns to Harmony, who admits her faux pas. "It's not as if you gave me a chance to prove myself," she said. "That's because you don't have a soul," he answers back. "That's because you never gave me a chance!" So Angel and Hamilton fight it out, destroying much of the office in the meantime. Conner shows up and gives Hamilton a good smack down. Hamilton mocks Angel, telling him he wasn't going to be able to take down the Leader of the Black Thorn after all. Angel mocks him in return, telling him that he (Angel) spiked the Leader's drink and therefore was dead already. Then, he tells Conner to go somewhere safe. Conner objects, saying he can help. Angel tells him that he'll be helpful know that he was somewhere else. Conner relents and goes. Hamilton continues to mock Angel, telling him that he was given power by the Senior Partners. "It's in my blood." Angel then turns to him and says, "There's a word you probably shouldn't have said," and proceeds to vamp out and take a bite out of Hamilton.
Spike, meantime, rescues the baby and takes out the Fell Brotherhood in the process, Gunn lays the smackdown on the Senator's goons and delivers a nice axe to her head (she was Hellspawn, anyway), Illyria takes out the demon mob (more members of the Black Thorn), and Wes has his confrontation with Vail, the Warlock (finally remembered his name). Needless to say, he's a bit over powered and Vail has him in a choke hold. While he's restrained, Wes tries to stab Vail, but he deflects is and TK's a knife from the wall into his hand and stabs Wes in the gut. Illyria comes in and sees this. She gathers Wes into her lap and asks, "Do you want me to lie to you now?" [ETA: *sobs*] He responds with a weak, "Yes." She transforms into Fred and speaks softly to him as he dies (!!!!!). Vail mocks her and she turns around and kills him (quite impressively, too).
Lorne and Lindsay finish their task and they talk a bit. Lorne is quite disillusioned with things recently and turns and shoots Lindsay (as Angel instructed). Lorne then leaves, never to be seen again.
At W&H, Eve is waiting for Lindsay to return when the walls start to tremble. Needless to say, the Senior Partners aren't too happy. Angel comes across Eve and tells her to leave. She asks where Lindsay is. Angel replies, "He won't be coming for you." She's upset by this and refuses to leave. Angel goes into an alley and waits for the rest. Spike shows up, a bit injured, but fine in the long run. He says the baby was returned to his parents and the Fell Brotherhood are no more. Gunn shows up, badly injured but says the Senator won't be returning for re-election. Angel asks where Wes is, Illyria shows up and tells them he's dead. She turns to them and says, "I feel grief for him." A rumbling is heard and they all look to the end of the ally, where all sorts of demons come towards them, sent by the Senior Partners. Illyria comments, "You won't last 10 minutes against them." Gunn then says, "At least I'll go down fighting." Which leaves us with the last words spoken by Angel. "I don't know about you, but I've always wanted to slay a dragon."
Whew! That took a lot of time. I was a little disappointed with the ending. I mean, I wanted a bit more closure, I guess. And why'd they have to kill off Wes!! I liked Wes!! I mean, I knew somebody was going to die, but did it have to be Wes!! *has moment of silence*
Well, there you go. If you can make it through all that, you get a gold star.
Tonight is Jupiter Jazz pt. 1 (yay Gren) and Live Through (V/M moments). I'll be happy!
