I admit to wanting to see this movie ever since I saw the trailer a few months ago (I think before Christmas). Not so much because of the horror aspect, but honestly for DanRad.
I will say that Radcakes does seem to leave his Harry Potter role behind in this film. It never even occurred to me that he'd once played the character. Maybe it was because he wasn't wearing glasses, or the way he wore his hair, but I definitely didn't see traces of Harry in the character of Arthur Kipps.
Now, I know I've said I don't do horror, but what I really meant by that is that I don't do GORY horror. Creepfests I can handle. Old fashioned thrillers and spooks are more my speed. It proves that you don't need to torture and butcher people in gruesome ways to be frightened. It goes double if there are supernatural elements involved, which a lot of these type of movies have.
I don't know what it is with the Victorians and collecting creepy objects to clutter up their houses.
Welcome to England! Land of super creepy houses and dampness!!
OK, I counted slightly over 6 jump scares. Very effective ones, I might add.
Please don't let anything happen to the cute dog.
Again, Victorians had creepy toys.
So Arthur had a 4 year old son, yes? How old was he when he married I wonder? Pretty young I'd say.
I think it's interesting that the actor playing Daily also played Aberforth in DH part 2.
Yay, a movie full of creepy kids and creepy houses.
Don't piss off the crazy people, because when they die they will make your life hell.
I found it amusing that the guy that was sitting next to me was cowering next to his girlfriend during the movie. I admit to cowering a little myself in a few spots.
Yes, let's stay all night in a dark, abandoned, haunted house with no way out.
How long was that kid in the marsh? He's remarkably well preserved.
I kinda had a feeling he was gonna die. One girl said as we were leaving the theater that he was run down by the Hogwarts Express. I did have to snicker at that.
We did also see Beauty and the Beast in 3D. It's kinda weird to see previously 2D non-computer animated films converted into 3D. You can see where some of the conversion didn't really work all that well, but it's only super noticeable if you look very closely.
And the Tangled short before it was super cute and funny. And I still want a Pascal plushie.
