snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Grozit!)
Well work was "eh" today.

My boss is apparently going though a rough time personally and there tends to be a trickle down effect. Anyway, there's a doctor I've been posting charges for for almost a year now. He's a specialist and doesn't see a lot of patients, so it doesn't take me very long to do them and they're pretty basic and straight forward. Anyway, there are certain charges that Medicare requires. They're basic stuff, but they are a pain in the ass because there can be a lot per patient. Well, I was informed today that a certain charge was supposed to be posted in addition to the consults and stuff that I had been posting for the Neurology doctor. It seems I hadn't been posting them. Now, had I known I was supposed to, I would have. I certainly wouldn't intentionally omit it or anything. However, there were no indications that this charge was supposed to have been posted. We're talking a charge that basically indicates that the encounter was documented in the chart. That's it. And there is no monetary value attached to it. When I post it, the charge shows up thusly: "$ .00" so it's not like they're losing money. Of course, everyone blows it all out of proportion and makes it seem like I built a bonfire out of my papers and pranced around naked or something...

So now my boss needed to ask what doctors I post for so she can double check the things I do to make sure it's right. Like I'm a friggin' five year old.

So it kinda sucked today needless to say...

I'm sorry to hear your bosses are acting like that. It's a pain for them to expect you to be psychic and know you have to do something.

There are days I'm glad my job isn't much more complicated than scrubbing toilets. (But they criticize the way I scrub the toilets, too...)

Especially considering I'd been posting these particular charges for nearly a year now and they're just NOW raising a stink over it? Whatev.

Most of the time, by boss is pretty chill. While I understand she's going through a tough time personally, she really shouldn't "take it out" on her employees. And yeah, I make mistakes now and then, but so do a lot of other people because we're human and not machines.

I hate it when I feel like someone is looking over my shoulder at every little thing I do. Mistakes are common, we're human and not perfect and we learn from them. When people get their panties in a twist is when things become unbearable.

A boss can make or break a job. If you have a job you like, but a boss you don't it can make coming to work very difficult.

In general, I do like my boss. The majority of the time, she's firm but fair and she lets you do your work at your own pace and she's not overly nitpicky. Most of the minute detail crap comes from the insurance companies who make up all kinds of rules and regulations to try and make it more difficult for them to pay up. So we have to be diligent and jump through their hoops (which tend to be VERY specific).

So hopefully the burr that's up her butt will subside soon and life can go back to normal. In the meantime, however, I am keeping my head low and not making any waves...

For Shame... dancing around your paperwork naked without me!

j/k

Actually thats bosses for you. Sounds like what my manager does to me constantly... and all I do is press tortillas in a press for a few seconds and put them on a piece of foil.

But it helps to have the information up front before you can know how to do something. But bosses seem to forget this when it suits them.

Yeah, I've heard stories about your boss...

Like I was saying to [livejournal.com profile] zelamenomiko, most of the time, my boss is fairly laid back as bosses go. She's going through some difficulties right now and it's kinda "rolling downhill" as it were. I just hope her mood lightens soon. Today she sent e-mails around telling us to tone down the chit chat, which TBH, wasn't as bad as it usually is, especially on Fridays. Sooooo, yeah...
