Saw Watchmen today.
It was pretty faithful to the graphic novel, with a few tweaks here and there to fill in some gaps. There were some things cut too, but that was probably for length and exposition purposes. I will say it was pretty gruesome in areas. Like the fight scene in the alley with Laurie and Dan. I mean, those goons got their asses kicked and then some. Then there was the scene with Dr. Manhattan where he obliterated some dudes in a hideout complete with partially skeletized bloody remains on the ceiling.
The movie also had F-bombs throughout which was unexpected since the GN is pretty mild actually. The Comedian is one of the worst offenders actually second to the prison scene, but that's to be expected I guess.
The sex scene. Wow. For a moment I thought I walked into a totally different movie. I honestly didn't expect it to be that... detailed. But then in 300, there was this one scene with Leonidas and Gorgo that was pretty intense. Also with bare asses... and one blue wang.
The effects were pretty decent. Dr. Manhattan didn't quite look in synch with the dialogue, but I guess it helped with the feeling of being unnatural. Also, some things couldn't be helped, no matter how far we've come in FX.
The alternative ending wasn't too bad actually. It made a bit more sense than the original Killer Death SquidTM in the original novel. That particular part never really made sense to me.
For an epic lengthed almost 3 hour movie, it didn't feel that way while watching it. I was careful not to order a large soda so I wouldn't have to pee.
A friend of mine loned me a book she was reading that she thought I might like. Moon Called by Patricia Briggs. It's kind of like a supernatural mystery series. It looks to be pretty interesting.
Later on tonight, mom and I went over to a friend's house for Game Night. We played Balderdash and Whonoo. Balderdash I've played before, but the other one was new. It's kind of like a getting to know you type of game.
Tomorrow is going to be a relaxing day. Thank goodness...

I didn't really notice the synching issue, but I was surprised at how soft and high his voice was. It didn't really seem to fit with his look, but I suppose that makes sense since it was his voice when he was human.
And I agree with you about the GN ending—it was sorta random for me. The way the movie ended was good for a movie adaptation. I'd have bought that more than what was in the GN, actually. I remember walking out of the theatre thinking, "Wow. Adrian must've been born with three testicles cause it takes some balls to make the kind of decision that he did."
All in all, great movie for me. Rorschach still got the last laugh :)

Oh dear Lord. It's bead enough he's cast as Spike Spiegle in the Cowboy Bebop movie, but as DR. Manhattan? No, just... no.
Actually, that impressive physique was computer generated. The actor was clad in a blue suit for the actual shoot.
That's for damn sure!

Lol. I just remembered the part where Laurie's mom slaps Dan on the bum. Good times :)

The sex scene was kina weird too. For the duration of it I felt like I was hanging out in the world of soft core porn. I mean, you saw everything short of the actual penis penetration.
I was surprise to see that watchmen was pg 13 , especially since V for Vendetta got Pg18 when it was shown here (probably because it opposes government. Swear, drink, and kill all you want. But respect your gov, kiddies!). Anyways, I was surprise to see it PG13 because I saw the movie. AFTER I saw it I was thinking "Some parents are goooonnnnaaa bitch about it."
Oh well, generally a good movie, though weird for some bits. Not the best to bring your mom to though (I did. I'm sorry mom. )

I was a bit uncomfortable with the sex scene. Not with sex in general mind you. I know it's all a natural process and all that. It's just seeing it full on on the screen like that kinda took me by surprise. The GN was kind of tasteful. I too felt we were getting into soft-core porn. I feel for you being there with your mom. I saw Cold Mountain with my mom and the sex scene at the end made me feel weird with my mom sitting there...
PG-13 is pretty surprising. I would've thought it definitely would been rated R. It probably should've been.
Needless to say, I'll probably see it again. I just know what to expect next time! : )
Sorry for the long comment...
