snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Nite Owl & Silk Spectre)
Saw Watchmen today.

It was pretty faithful to the graphic novel, with a few tweaks here and there to fill in some gaps. There were some things cut too, but that was probably for length and exposition purposes. I will say it was pretty gruesome in areas. Like the fight scene in the alley with Laurie and Dan. I mean, those goons got their asses kicked and then some. Then there was the scene with Dr. Manhattan where he obliterated some dudes in a hideout complete with partially skeletized bloody remains on the ceiling.

The movie also had F-bombs throughout which was unexpected since the GN is pretty mild actually. The Comedian is one of the worst offenders actually second to the prison scene, but that's to be expected I guess.

The sex scene. Wow. For a moment I thought I walked into a totally different movie. I honestly didn't expect it to be that... detailed. But then in 300, there was this one scene with Leonidas and Gorgo that was pretty intense. Also with bare asses... and one blue wang.

The effects were pretty decent. Dr. Manhattan didn't quite look in synch with the dialogue, but I guess it helped with the feeling of being unnatural. Also, some things couldn't be helped, no matter how far we've come in FX.

The alternative ending wasn't too bad actually. It made a bit more sense than the original Killer Death SquidTM in the original novel. That particular part never really made sense to me.

For an epic lengthed almost 3 hour movie, it didn't feel that way while watching it. I was careful not to order a large soda so I wouldn't have to pee.

A friend of mine loned me a book she was reading that she thought I might like. Moon Called by Patricia Briggs. It's kind of like a supernatural mystery series. It looks to be pretty interesting.

Later on tonight, mom and I went over to a friend's house for Game Night. We played Balderdash and Whonoo. Balderdash I've played before, but the other one was new. It's kind of like a getting to know you type of game.

Tomorrow is going to be a relaxing day. Thank goodness...
