snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Grozit!)
For some reason, TPTB have decided that they don't want me to have a decent copy of Photo Shop CS3. I bought an upgrade at Staples since it was a hellava lot cheaper than the regular version (by about $400). Since I have a version already installed, I figured "No prob!"

Well, since it wasn't available in-store, I had to have it shipped. I got it yesterday and proceeded to install it. I went to enter the serial number of the previous version (admitidly I "acquired" it from my dad). For some reason, it wouldn't recognize it. So now I can't use it (except for the 30 day trial period). *fnarl* I have to figure something out, because I did not shell out 200 some dollars for a program only to not be able to use it...

Mom and a friend of hers are in the living room reminiscing. She took the day off and from the sounds of the type of day she had yesterday, she needed it.

My game came, only it was signed by one of my neighbors, so now we have to contact them in order to actually HAVE IT IN MY HANDS!!!! Mom said she'd call later (since no one can really understand me over the phone and I have a massive phone phobia). I also have a package waiting for me at the Post Office that I have no idea what it is. Although it may be the Japanese style schoolbag I ordered for my laptop bag. ETA: It just might be!

Tomorrow I plan on taking down my Christmas lights and my cards. And, if able, perhaps play some Mario Galaxy. *crosses fingers*

More than likely it's not accepting the serial number because it's registered to your dad. Adobe isn't stupid, they have ways to make sure people don't completely rob them blind. (Case in point, when I got CS2 I let my sister also install it on her computer, but when my mom tried it denied her access. I don't think my sister ever registered hers, so she was okay.)

Playing by the rules is always best, even if it's more expensive.

Now I have to figure out away around this little problem so I can use my program. It's very frustrating...

I would definitely return it if you're having problems with it! (Photoshop)

There's nothing wrong with the actual program itself, it's just trying to get it loaded and set up where it can be used is all.

We're still trying to figure it all out...

That's still a problem you shouldn't be having and a good reason to return it if need be. Good luck!

Well, I wanna kinda hold off on that for a bit until we get this completely figured out. I'm kinda reluctant to just up and return it just yet.

Don't they have a helpline or something you should be able to ask questions like this?

Possibly. I'll have to check. Adobe is very militant about their software however, and since my original version of PS wasn't purchased by me, it might not work without a little... convincing.

How would they know about the old one? Did you buy a new fully legal Photoshop suite? If so, that should be the only thing that matters. If it's not quite legal or something, then yes there may be problems you can't exactly go to the manufacturer about. (If so, that's a lot of money to pay for something that's less than legal!)

The upgrade itself I bought, the previous version (v.7) was a copy from my dad, which I'm pretty sure he bought. I'll have to reconfirm though.

When I inputed the serial number from v.7, the upgrade said it didn't recognize it. So I have to fugure out what to do from there.
