I was going to write a post yesterday, but I got too distracted by Wikipedia again and didn't do it. And I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms as of yet, so all is good.
I went to see 300 today. Review is as follows.
It. Kicks. Ass! True, there may be more dynamic films, but this one definitely holds it's own. The visuals themselves were absolutely stunning! Each frame beautifully shot and the colors were subdued to give it a more arty tone.
Even the blood was rendered nicely. Each crimson arc had panache and purpose. It all splattered very nicely.
I, like
flamika thought the music was very good. It added the right amount of atmosphere. Hard rock for the action scenes and more muted lyrical music for the rare subdued scenes.
And I liked the way the action would slow down in certain scenes. It drew the intensity of it out and you could focus on what was happening. A lot of action movies, everything goes so fast you can hardly catch everything going on.
Speaking of focus, a lot of muscular bare chests were flashed, not that I'm complaining. Even the women get in on the action, like the Oracle (poor girl, stuck with those gross priest guys *shudder*) and Queen Gorgo. You definitely couldn't have any flab being in this movie, that's for sure.
Then there was the sex. Not a lot, but it was definitely there. The King and Queen get some action going and then there's the Persian orgy later on.
And, my final word, the guy who played the captain's son (the one who eventually got beheaded *sob*) was a definite hottie. *rawr*
Plus, we got to see a preview for Spidey 3. I so can't wait to see that one, baby! Whoo!
And I also stopped by the bookstore and picked up Trinity Blood 2 and FMA 12.

And I too noticed the way some of the colors stood out more than others. The red in the capes, the whiteness of the teeth, the gold in the shields.
It was very bloody and artsy at the same time, not something that generally go together much.
