ARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!111!!!!

*tears out her hair*

You know, there are time when I hate technology. This is one of those times.

I was trying to update my iTunes to a newer version. It downloaded fine. It installed fine. But I got hung up when it tried to install Quicktime (which is apparently something you need for iTunes to work). So I told it to stop. Bad idea. Now, even though it says iTunes has been installed, I can't open it since Quicktime never fully installed. So I figure, "Fine. I'll just uninstall iTunes so I can reinstall everything." Wrong. I can't even uninstall it to try to reinstall it. I tried just installing Quicktime. No go. Apparently, my "InstallShield Wizard" has decided to crap out on me.

Now, before you Windows haters start pointing fingers, it's always worked fine for me before. It's probably due to something I've done. Now, I have no idea how to fix it and no one I can call. I only hope I haven't screwed the pooch, so to speak.

What started all of this, you may ask? A meme. Yes, you read that right. A music meme. I did it once before when I had fewer songs and I could physically count to the requested number. Now, I have more songs and I really don't want to hand count 100-odd songs. So I thought if I downloaded the newest version of iTunes, I could put numbers beside the songs so I know which one's which. I didn't know how to do that in the other version (or even if it would let me). Now, I have no music at all. *rawr*

So I am not a happy camper. I've potentially screwed myself out of my music and who knows what else. So Snap is not a happy camper at this moment.

Watch it be something so mind numbingly simple that I simply overlooked. Good job, Snap. Good job.

I had the InstallShield problem when I tried to uninstall KazaaLite on Cuka. At the time I thought it was just Kazaa being an asshat, but I guess it happens with other programs as well. I wish I knew how to help, but right now all I can think of is trying to re-install iTunes and hope it overwrites the faulty files? Or, someone with knowledge of DOS might be able to tell you how to order your computer to uninstall it...

But if iTunes is permanently dead, there's always Winamp.

(BTW, when/if you get iTunes back, all you have to do is select your entire Library and make a new playlist out of it; it'll give you numbers in your new playlist.)

I've tried to reinstall it a few times, but the InstallShield Wizard would go "Cannot launch InstallShield Wizard blah blah blah Icraponyou blah blah." I restarted my computer and hopefully that'll help (haven't retried it yet). If that doesn't work, I'll resort to using Winamp again if I must.

Aw, that bites, Snap. D: I personally have never had the problem, but I guess that's because my computer is still new... If it were my old one, well, that's an entirely different story. I'd be cursing so much children would cry.

Good luck with the problem, though. :) I hope you can fix it.

Yeah, I hope I can get it figured out too. I liked my iTunes...
