snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (L -- *sluuurp* (notagimmick))
Just got finished replying to my Yahoo! mail. Mostly I use it for my fandom related stuff, but it's also where I receive my LJ replies. I had 21 this time, which I like. It takes time to reply back to them, but I don't really mind...

Today I go over and help my aunt with the pricing and stuff of grandma's things. I know nothing of how to judge the value of stuff, so hopefully I'll be able to do OK. This is what's really going to take a lot of time since there's quite a bit to go through.

Mom wants me to pick her up a little early since she wants to go and get her haircut. I need to call and see if my hairdresser is back from maternity leave and what her hours are, because my hair needs cut too. I was going to color it, but I think I'll wait a while for that. The haircut is more important. It's starting to annoy me.

I've been watching the special on VH-1 called "I Love Toys" and I tell ya, they're really bringing me back. I'm familiar with a lot of the toys they've been showing on there. I had a lot of them, too. I don't know why I like the nostalgia shows like I do. It's just fun I guess. And that's the point. To be entertained.

I've got a few more icon ideas brewing around, but I don't know when I'll be able to get them done. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I went and got 'Howl's Moving Castle' yesterday. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but hopefully soon. I also got 'Bambi II' and I was able to watch it. It was pretty cute!

I was able to spot Takada in DN 4 (with some help from [livejournal.com profile] flamika. Thank you). And she looks relatively normal when we first see her. Just a normal college co-ed who's pretty and popular. Fast forward to most recently when she's a member of Light's Legion of Doom... and pays the price for it. Mikami interests me though, I mean, from the scant images I've seen, he's pretty hot. A little warped maybe, but hot none the less...

Trivia of the day: The Hope diamond was acquired by King Louis XIV in 1668. It was worn 120 years later by Marie Antoinette and it now resides in the Smithsonian Institution. This beautiful natural blue diamond weighs 44.5 carats today. <-- I've actually been to the Smithsonian and seen it!

I got Bambi 2 recently as well, and I also enjoyed it. It was nice to see that the Great Prince also felt loss. And Bambi's dream...that made me cry... ^_^; I still need to see Howl's Moving Castle though.

Yeah, I'd always been slightly facinated by the Great Prince ever since the original one, so I was glad to see a movie where he makes a major apperance.

And I saw HMC twice in the theateres. Wonderful! You'll love it!

Did you ever read the Bambi books? (I only ever got to read Bambi's Children, which was very good. I'm wondering if Disney's ever going to touch that. It involved man a lot more, since one of Bambi's offspring gets injured and rescued by a ranger. I need to go find the original book...) I think part of the enjoyment of the movie for me was just watching the animation. It's sad that Disney's gifted animators have been reduced to making straight-to-DVD movies, but I'm glad they still are working. Traditional animation can't die...

I'll see the movie one of these days, although I suppose I should read the book first, right?

I've never seen any of the Bambit books. I know there was a little blurb in the credits mentioning them, but I never sought them out. I must try and do that sometime...

Well, you don't need to read the book first in order to enjoy the movie. It's based on the book, but goes in a different direction. I enjoyed both as seperate entities.

Hehe, I hope you don't mind that I added you. You have a degree in psychology? Awesomeness. Then you'll find this interesting, hehe. I actually initially made this lj for a persona I developed, which I have a compulsion to do occaisionally, but the persona is successfully merging so I'm gonna keep this as my creative journal. Y'know, to put creative stuffs on. I actually was gonna add you as [livejournal.com profile] pathseeker and I probably still will, b/c I don't think I'd mind so much if most people know that I am pathseeker. Oh, and btw, I found you through [livejournal.com profile] zelaminomiko

What's a brain twin? Someone whom is like you are?
Date/Time: 2006-03-12 18:24 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] snapdragon76.livejournal.com
Yeah. We call each other our Brain Twins because we like a lot of the same things and think along the same lines. Thus, 'Brain Twin.'

I went and got Howl's Moving Castle as well!! It was between that and Harry Potter, and I chose HMC because I saw it almost a year ago this summer and loved it so much that I've been looking for it ever since! Have you read the book as well?
Date/Time: 2006-03-12 04:32 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] snapdragon76.livejournal.com
Yes I have! I read the firt book and then the sequel, 'Castle In THe Air.' Loved 'em both! I wantto buy them, but I'm having a difficult time of it.
Date/Time: 2006-03-12 05:09 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] shoomy2003.livejournal.com
I've read both as well! I will admit that I had a harder time getting into Castle in the Air, but I love that she tied HMC into it as well. HURRAY!! I'm glad you've read them! Do you live in a remote area, is that why you're having a hard time getting ahold of the books?

I found that to be somewhat interesting, actually. after I got to the end of CitA, I flipped through the rest so I could pickup on the clues and then everything made sense. I thought that was interesting.

Well, not really. It's a smallish city, but the threebookstotres around here justt don't seem to carry them. I had to check them out of the library in order to read them. I may break down and order them from Amazon.com.
Date/Time: 2006-03-12 22:59 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] shoomy2003.livejournal.com
Oh I'm not saying that CitA wasn't good. I enjoyed it immensely. And, hehehe, I did the same flipping through afterwards! Although, I do it for all stories that I read just because I like to find my favorite parts and read them over again before finally putting the book on my bookshelf.

Have you tried having those bookstores order them for you? It'd be cheaper than having to pay shipping and handling...
Date/Time: 2006-03-13 14:53 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] snapdragon76.livejournal.com
Yeah, sometimes I peek at the end. Hey, sometimes that determines if I want to buy it or not. I still read it the regular way though. My mom always peeks at the end first. I only do it with certain books.

I may look into that. I just haven't gotten around to it...

"I love toys" is awesome!!! Good good memories. Ah I love the erector set bit they did with Golbert Godfrey (sp?) It was classic.

Funny looking back on the toys that they had compared to what's available now...not that I've been looking at the toy aisle lately or anything lol =P

I know! I just love thsoe shows! I've watched all of the 'I ♥' shows they've aired so far!

Hey, you're never too old for toys. And a lot of the ones they mentioned, I had or had friends who had them. Great times...

I can't price a thing, I'm hopeless at it. ^^;;

Lord, I love nostalgia stuff like that. I found this awesome site for it, too. www.retrojunk.com All sorts of TV series openings, commercials, and random crap. ^^
