I'm back home after being gone for the weekend. It was actually very nice. It was sorta like a mini-summer camp. I was a bit apprehensive about going, but as it turns out, I was glad I went. A few key pointers, though:
Well, shall I get down to brass tacks? Yes, lets. *clears throat*
We left Friday afternoon. It's a bit of a drive, but it wasn't too bad and I like car trips anyway. We stopped about half-way to eat lunch at Cracker Barrel (yum) and we set off again. There were three of us; Mom, a friend of ours, and me of course. We got to the camp and registered. We settled into our cabin and walked around campus to see where everything was. Our craft was to make crystal icicles Christmas Tree ornaments.
The schedule was pretty varied. No one showed up for the first craft thing, so we had some free time. Then there was dinner and the speaker. There was also some singing, but I personally wasn't impressed. The speaker was pretty good, but I had to fight from dozing off. Then after that was free time. There was a little tea room and a movie as well as snacks and stuff. Then we turned in. Turns out, that in itself was an adventure.
Now we had regular camp bunks (I had the top). They were actually pretty comfortable and I was able to go to sleep (after reading a bit) pretty easily. However, sometime during the night I woke up to massive snoring. I wasn't the only one, either. Practically everyone in our cabin woke up. I was even wearing earplugs and I could hear it! Mom had gotten up to go to the restroom and when she came back, she prodded the lady so she could turn over. So she stopped snoring... for awhile. Mom took to calling her 'The Freight Train' --not to her face, however...
The next day was full of the workshops and crafts (again, no one showed for ours). There was a foot soaking I participated in, which was very nice!!! I then took the free time between sessions (so the next batch of ladies could come) and took a shower. Now, this was some shower...
Showering at camp is always a bit of a trick. You have to juggle your clothes and towels while trying to stay balanced. The spray in itself was interesting. It was very powerful. It was almost like a power wash at a car wash. I thought it was going to blow me clean through the wall! It was akin to a Chinese water tourture.
Saturday evening was pretty much the same as Friday's. We did get some showing up for out craft, but they were ladies from our home church who came to support us, which we greatly appreciated. The weather was starting to turn on us as it began to rain... a lot. I had planned on doing the hay ride, but due to the downpour, it was cancelled. Needless to say, since you basically have to go outside in order to do anything, we got drenched. So we went to the cabin, moved some of our stuff over to the cabin our church was staying in (we had been in the workers cabin), and slept out on the screened porch. It was quite nice, actually. We just had to make sure our mattresses were far enough away from where the rain was coming in. So we talked and then we went to sleep, no Freight Train.
After morning sessions, the place was still damp and it was a bit chilly, but I had to go without my hoodie since it was still wet from the night before. After everything in the morning was done, we left early since we still ahd no one show for our craft. We then headed out and, again, stopped for lunch. Now, next Friday, I have to go over again. I won't be gone as long, though.
I will say this though, it was odd being cut off from the world. No television, radios, newspapers or anything. I mean, half the world could have fallen off and I'd never have known...
I also wasn't used to having three square meals. It tooks some getting used to as opposed to the not so square meals I usually get. I hope Saturday night's episode of FMA taped so I can watch it.
Now, I also have to try and catch up with my FL. I have a feeling it'll take me awhile... Plus, I have a doctor's appointment today on top of doing laundry from this weekend. Oy.

- Bring extra blankets
- Bring rain gear
- Bug Spray is your friend
Oh, and also: - Bring a long-sleeved shirt
- Bring extra undies in case yours get wet...

I am too. I told my mom that I didn't need soap, I just had to stand under the showerhead and it would blast all the funk off.

You make me want to go camping again! (Although I'm one of those macho, start your own fires, you'll lucky if you get a tent sorta guys when it comes to it)

I like camping as well. Or at least I used to. I've become far too pampered with stuff like electricity and indoor plumbing. If I could stand to be away from the internet for an extened period of time, I'd be OK. I was lucky I didn't go into serious withdrawals during the weekend...

I think half of the fun of going camping is being cut off from the world. I'm always so busy having fun I don't have time to be bored, or go through internet withdrawal.
Your shower sounded fun. On my last camping trip, there were no showers, so we gave ourselves spongue baths under the water spigot.

And I totally chickened out on the prospect of politely asking PAD to maybe add some Xyon/Soleta action in the future on his blog. *sobs*
And I'd rather have a super shower than try to bathe by water spigot...
