snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Akiru - alone)
Well, not officially until a couple of weeks, but work with me here... Anyway, this is going to be a long post, so bear with me.

First, my New Years --

New Years' Eve: Well, let's see... during the day we did what we usually do on Saturdays. Go grocery shopping. We also went to the local Flea Market and I saw a few things I'd perhaps like to get myself Such as -- an oversized fairy shirt which I can use as a night shirt (I need more), a cell phone case (I want to protect my boys), a few cell phone charms (but I'll not be replacing my Hello Kitty anytime soon), and samurai swords!!! Ohhh! Of course, if I were to get any, I'd want a daisho or a complete set. Wakizachi (short sword. I hope I spelled it right) and katana (or long sword). Mwahahahahaaaaaa!!!

That night, we chilled our Sparkling Cider and watched 'Pirates of the Carribean' before we switched over to Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.' He was there, but you could definitely tell the stroke affected him. His speech was altered, but it was good to see him, even in a limited capacity.

New Year's Day: We went to church services, and then afterwards, we went to see 'King Kong.' It was a very good movie. There were some gruesome parts in it, like when the cook got eaten and then just giant bugs in general. The dinosaur stampede was waaaay intense! So I recommend it. Mom had to go to the bathroom toward the end (it is pretty long) but she hung in there. What a trooper.

I also made me some icons. I redid the Kureno and Shigure New Years one. I like it better than the first one I did, but still, it could be better. And I made this Akito and Tohru one. I liked the scene and the text is a paraphrase from a song I really like by Ginny Owens. I felt it fit. The actual lyrics themselves were a bit long, but I tweaked them a bit so they fit, but still kept their meaning.

And I set up my iTunes. Who knows, I may actually use it to download stuff...

And [livejournal.com profile] flamika, I redid the CD covers for the Furuba mixes you sent me. I figured out how to do it using the CD cover maker that came with my CD burner program. The first attempt was crappy, because the cutter I had was the smaller one, and it was too short lengthwise, so I kinda butchered them a bit. But I re redid them this morning (on card stock) and used scissors on the longer part and they came out beautifully. I still have the covers you made since you made them and I'm strange that way...

I also scanned some images. Two from HG vol. 10 and two from my 'Star Wars New Essential Chronology' book. The 'Star Wars' ones I plan to make icons from...

Speaking of which, it's time for me to post about my Christmas haul! So, here goes!

clicky! )

Well, that seems to be about it. As for today, I have no other agenda than to go and pick up my perscription. Tomorrow, I have to throw myself on the mercy of my car insurance company since they're closed today and my payment is due. Wish me luck...

Trivia of the day: When Ben Franklin was living in England, he used the breast stroke during his regular swims across the Thames River – the same stroke used by Matthew Webb in 1875 when he became the first person to swim the English Channel.
