snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Mercy -- Silver Bourne)
Sorry I haven’t written up an honest to goodness post for a while now. Not a lot has been happening lately in my life or work to really write about.

We did have plans to go the Central Florida Highland Games this coming weekend, but things are kinda up in the air right now. We’ve been going pretty annually for the past couple of years because it’s fun and we get to see a group we like by the name of ‘Albannach’. (Ysa, it’s the place where I got the scarf and such for you that one year).

However, there’s a chance that we might not be able to go. For one thing, they raised the ticket prices from $15 to $17. It might not seem like that much, but for those of us who are between paychecks it is. They raised the prices not so much for inflation, but for including a night program that we generally skip because we are on the road by then.

Plus, mom hasn’t been feeling that great lately and she doesn’t think she’ll be able to handle walking around all day with nothing but porta potties (I can’t say I blame her on that. I hate using those when I feel good). Our usual comrades are also having financial woes as well, so it might not happen.

It’s a bit disappointing because I was looking forward to going, but if it can’t be helped than I suppose there is no use in being upset over it. It’s an annual thing, so there are plenty of other opportunities.

But, there is a bit of a bright side… at least for me. If it turns out we can’t go, I do plan on making a trip to the local dollar theater to see ‘Megamind’ once again and perhaps eat at my fave deli right next door!

Well, I was able to fax a copy of my Birth Certificate to HR so that it can be used to prove that, in fact, I am indeed a legal citizen of this country. I still need to find (or get another one) my Social Security card, but the urgency is diminished.

I had to go to the storage place and make a payment. Turns out we were two months behind because we never got a statement. This wasn't a problem before, but only since they changed ownership. It was a good thing I did since the lock was cut off and our stuff was slated to be put up for auction. It took a decent chunk out of my wallet though, but what're you gonna do...

I was able to use my Photo Shop (the previous version I had, not my newer one... thankfully) to fiddle with icons. I'm not posting because I'm not completely finished.

Parents, lock up your children, Creepy McCreeperson is free... *shudders*

Mom already picked out movie for tonight. Walk The Line, which we recorded the other day (even though it's technically my turn, I don't mind so much since I want to see it to).

Trivia of the day: The primary purpose of growing rice in flooded paddies is to drown the weeds surrounding the young seedlings — rice can, in fact, be grown in drained areas.

Man, being broke sucks. Luckily I was able to call the cable company to see if they got my first payment since they sent me another bill that was doubled. I was like O_O . But, they did, so I can disregard the second one. Still, I have to be cautious, which means... no more books for awhile. *gasp* *shock* Ohh, the horror!!!

Luckily, manga-wise I already have most of what I need for a while. I should be OK. Still, I know I'll go through withdrawals like no one's business.

I found my scrap book, so I can put some things in it that I have from the previous six months. Like grandma's obituary and memorial folders. I have to ask mom where she's gonna put the memorial candle.

I need to go to the temp agency today so I can change my address from the one they have on file. Maybe while I'm there, I can find out what the message was they were trying to give to me.

Plus, I need to e-mail or call the lady we stayed with since she has some of our mail that got through the address forwarding notice. Hopefully they're not anything like bills or something like that.

I put some of my newer books away so they're not cluttering up my floors. I also gave myself a well deserved mini-pedi. I haven't been able to in over six months, so it was kinda nice. I also had to help mom assemble her new bookcase in her bedroom so she could put some of her books away.

I have to be careful not to drive too much so I can conserve my gas. Like I said, being broke totally sucks...

Trivia of the day: Cheddar, often sold as "American" or store cheese, constitutes about two-thirds of the cheese sold in the United States.
