snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Default)
We had our first real snowfall today. I say real as in it actually snowed enough that it covered the ground.

Since this is a novelty to me, I decided to traipse around in my pajamas and take pictures, of course.

Granted, I was born in Indiana and didn't move away until I was 10, so I've seen my fair share of snow before, but since living in Florida for so long, I forgot how beautiful it can be when it's fresh. I'll probably not be as fascinated with it come January and having to drive in it, but for now, I'll keep my wonder about it.

I took my NECA Jasper and Alice out to the VA to pose for some pictures like I do for my blog, and I almost lost Jasper for good when he fell out of my pocket in the snow. Luckily we didn't get too far before we went back and found him... Disaster averted!!

I hennaed (henna'd?) my hair on Monday, so it still smells of that earthy smell every time it gets wet. I like the result. I didn't have enough left over last time to just do a touch up, but this time I did, so I stuck it in the freezer for when I need to do my roots. The result was a nice rusty colored auburn. My natural hair color is too dark to be a rich, vibrant red. Still, I like how it turned out. It'll probably darken a bit yet. I left it on for three hours this time instead of four, so hopefully it won't darken quite as much.

But, the best news of all is that mom got a job!!! It's at a medical facility called Mountain States Health Alliance, and she'll be in Patient Financial Services doing refunds (I think). She has orientation on the 16th of December, and she'll have to do the background check and drug screening and all of that (which is to be expected. We had to do that when our old company was bought out last Spring). I have no doubt she'll pass. Now maybe we'll have a little extra to try and fix the car(s, since it sounds like mine needs a new muffler) and her computer hopefully.

Now I just need to hear from the school to see if I've been accepted or not. I'll have to remember to contact them on Monday to see what the status is. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully my GRE scores will be enough so that I'll be able to get into the program I want to. If so, then we need to talk to Financial Aid and get all of that straightened out.

Tomorrow mom and I are going to friends of ours for dinner, board games and then to go to the Bristol Motor Speedway to look at the light display they have. I've heard it's impressive. It's also the first day of Hanukkah, and we'll be having latkes as well as the traditional Thanksgiving meal. Our hosts are Messianic Jews and one of their friends is also Jewish. It'll be my first combination Thanksgiving and Hanukkah gathering.

Friday I'll probably stay in since I don't want to be caught out in the mess of Black Friday shoppers. I'll most likely dig out my Christmas decorations and put them up while listening to Christmas carols and/or watching a movie.
