Long post is looooooong.
I was going to write this up on my laptop because I have Semagic on there and I like it better than Phoenix for formatting purposes and I plan on using bullet points (see further down). Plus, it has a spell check whereas on my Mac I have to use TextEdit before pasting my post onto Phoenix. There needs to be Semagic for Mac is basically what I'm saying.
Anyway, I digress. My weekend is as follows:
Saturday: Mom and I decided to go to the movies at the newly reopened dollar theater next town over. We went to see Date Night and How To Train Your Dragon (yes, again. What? It's good!)
We were going to eat at the little deli next door (which would deliver to my workplace and I therefore fell in love with them), but they closed early for the holiday. *fumes* (屮≖益≖)屮 彡 ┻━┻
We opted for Cracker Barrel instead, which was a satisfactory substitution.
Sunday: The Fourth of July.
We would've slept in, but it was time for church, so we went. We left early anyway because there was a guest speaker and he was dry as unbuttered toast. (ㅇㅅㅇ)
We came home to drop some stuff off to discover that our eldest cat was sick. Basically she was suffering from the trots, which she gets now and then. So we stuck her in the bathroom that has the nice linoleum that cleans easily. Hey, we're not heartless. She had food and water in there. She was fine.
We then left to do a few errands because we had time to kill before we picked up some friends of ours for the baseball game later. So we wasted a little bit of time by getting some groceries and going to the bookstore. Mom wanted a new wallet, so we stopped in and she got one and I found a super cute hat and blah blah blah.
Finally game time came. Usually we go to see a baseball game with the local minor league team and then watch fireworks after. We wanted to get there early so we could get good seats since it was general admission. So we thought an hour before the first pitch would be good. While we did get good seats, after being there for roughly half and hour or so, it decided to rain. And it rained... for five hours. We were hoping the rain would let up enough where the game could be played. While it did let up slightly, the field was too wet to play on safely. Thus, the game was cancelled. However, it was announced there would be fireworks. We waited again for 45 minutes or so before they finally went off... for five minutes. Yeah, we were disappointed too.
It could be said that there weren't very many that remained dry, however we don't know for sure. Needless to say, it was very disappointing. We did get rain out vouchers for another game for free, which I hope to use for the end of season where there are more fireworks. Hopefully the weather will be nicer then.
Monday: My free day. I decided to go to the movies. My thoughts are thus:
WARNING! I'm writing this as I remember them, so it might get a bit ramble-y and disorganized, so bear with me a tad, eh?
Eclipse
Yes, I saw it. And, honestly, I didn't think it was that bad. So, yeah...
• ahhh, a supernatural love triangle. yep.
• basically the majority of the movie is Bella trying to get in Edward's pants. Oh, and trying to get him to transform her into a vampire, while trying to deal with the competitive affections of Jacob.
• Jessica is valedictorian? Why do I find this difficult to believe...
• yellow graduation robes? I'm sorry, but that just is not in my color wheel...
• *snickers* the whole talk between Charlie and Bella? LOVED it!! "Yes, I'm still a virgin!" LOL! If only he knew that he had NOTHING to worry about with Edward stealing Bella's virtue. He should be more worried about her stealing his.
• sorry, but that engagement ring is still really ugly.
• Alice is awesome. And really freaking adorable. Have I mentioned that I'm glad Ashley Green is still on for BD? Cuz I am. :D :D :D
• love the bromance between Seth and Edward. They should've kept more of it intact.
• tbh, I felt bad for Bree, the newborn girl at the end. Too bad things ended the way they did, because I think it would've been interesting to either see her incorporated into the Cullen clan, or become a nomad and explore the world a little more. And the Volturi only really killed her to set an example for the Cullens, basically because Bella hadn't been turned yet. I think it was pretty much unnecessary otherwise.
• I liked that we got to see some of Jasper's past. I think he had a case of the Southern Belles there for a bit there, but at least it wasn't overly corny sounding.
• I liked Rosalie's rip roaring rampage of revenge. I wanted to see more of her wedding dress though.
• Emmett was hilar. I hope we see more of him in the next one.
• Speaking of the next one, I for one can't wait to see how this is going to go down. Renesmee especially. Hopefully there won't be too much of the Uncanny Valley effect there. More importantly is the birth sequence itself. Holy moly.
I will say when I saw the HP trailer before the feature, I almost had a stroke. This is gonna be EPIC!!
The Last Airbender
The issue of RaceFail aside (which, to be honest, is not something to be taken lightly), I wanted to see it out of pure unabashed curiosity. I wanted to see how it held up to the series. My thought below, again in no particular order. Just as they come to me.
• Appa and Momo looked weird as CG. Really weird.
• I know that certain things had to be cut due to time constraints. the original first season was ten hours long, so yeah. still, a few things seemed... off.
• no Suki. 。(;°皿°)
• something that tweaked me was the pronunciations. I mean, it's Aaaaang, not Ahhhng. Sharp A, not long A. Also, it's Sokka, not Soh-ka.
• earthbenders had to be reminded that they had earth under their feet? wtf?
• no Jet. IF a second one is made, how are they going to explain the significance of his plot?
• Avatars can't have families. Uh, what? it's kinda important to include that little detail especially since Roku's descendants are Zuko's family...
• Katara gets pwned. yeah... ok then. (;⊙﹏⊙)ノシ
• Aang doesn't merge with the Ocean Spirit. *facepalm*
• no Jeong Jeong...
• no Balto.
• instead of being killed by the Ocean Spirit, Zhao is killed by four pissed Waterbenders. In a big ball of water.
• who was the dragon spirit advising Aang? at first I thought he was Roku's dragon, but I don't think he was...
• glad to see Azula at least.
• OK, IF a second one is made, I wonder how they're going to portray Toph. Because you do. not. mess with the Toph... ╬ (=ε=)ᘚ
That's all for now. Sorry for the length.

It wouldn't surprise me if they do have a sequel though, if they think they can make a buck on it. Sadly I don't trust them not to mess with Toph.

You can't make a good movie if the source material is lower than whatever it is that shit shits out.
(I like the trillogy... but the actual story ENDS at Eclipse since Stephanie Meyers decided to start ignoring the characters and turn the fourth book into a philosophical/Religious rant that ranks somewhere between the Narnia books and The Golden Compass)
*Realizes she's on a soap box and kicks it away*
I also saw Eclipse and it was definately good. Though WHY they felt they needed to add the ring is beyond me. In the books when Edward sees the bracelet with the wolf on it he gets an idea and the "engagement ring" is more of an "engagement charm" since the dimond from the ring he WAS going to give her he used to make the "crystal" heart charm he gives her. He knew he would never be able to GIVE her a dimond ring and her actually wear it. Its not until toward the end of the book when someone, I think Alice, mentions Edward finally giving her a dimond she'll wear that she realizes the intent behind it and the last line about putting on the ring is actually more like chosing a setting for the ring or something similar if I recall.
As for The Last Airbender. Um... Go look REAL close at the director. While he is capable of spectacular effects and such not exactly the top of the list for people I'd WANT working on Airbender since most of his movies have left people, including his FANS scratchign their heads and NOT in a good way. That tosses a good number of your complaints out with it. Though I sort of agree with the changing of the pronunciations from Hard English pronunciations to softer more fluid Asian ones, even if it is really strange to hear.
And While I love the series... when Avatar WAS on Nick I couldnt' watch it because I didn't have the channel so I only have seen random pieces. I know that A LOT of plot from the cartoons (like The Island with the funny painted chick-warriors that I forget the name of) WERE in fact filmed... but they were cut for time and to streamline the story.
As for the dragon... Its still Roku's dragon only they've changed its "title" to "The Spirit Dragon" as I've learned in my attempt to collect happy meal toys.
Odd note... Jasper Cullen = Sokka So you go to see A LOT of that particular actor.

I do like some of his movies, like Signs and The Village and the first one he did (which name escapes me ATM). I hadn't seen his other one. I know his kids are fans of the original series, which was why he wanted to do a live action version.
And it was Kyoshi Island that you were thinking of.
