I had to block someone on my Facebook. It's the first time I've ever done anything like that before. He wasn't rude or intentionally offensive or anything. The reason I blocked him was because, for some reason he has an extreme flaming dislike for organized religions, specifically Christianity. Every once in awhile he'd post quotes or links about how bad God is and how the followers of religious institutions are basically delusional and fools.

Now don't get me wrong, anyone is free to worship whoever or whatever they want to. I don't make a big deal about it. I respect other people's religious choices... all I ask is that they respect mine.

I honestly did try to tolerate is as long as I could, but I can only take so much of someone mocking my beliefs. Call me strange that way...

Otherwise, I think a depressive episode was creeping up on me earlier today. I've been distracted since I've been home, so I haven't had time to dwell on it, so I don't know if it's resolved. Plus, I was told today that I was diagnosed with High Anxiety Disorder. So, I'm going to try therapy first and see if that helps. If not, it's onto the meds. So, fingers crossed.

I really hope the therapy helps, though it's probably good you're keeping an open mind about meds.

I don't really blame you for blocking the guy. It sounds like that was unpleasant to read.

You're not weird for not wanting to deal with an intolerant person. Seriously, most of my friends aren't religious, but they are at least nice enough not to mock my beliefs in my face. It's hard to have any respect for someone not willing to give you any respect.

So do I, I just hope insurance pas for it if I need it long term. I just want to feel less anxious about mundane things.

Yeah, I cringed quite a few times when I read some of his rants, and I had to click away before I said something I regretted, so blocking is the best choice for now I think.

I have other friends who have said they were either Atheist or Agnostic, and while I don't agree with their choice, I'm not gonna make comments and stuff because of it. But then, they don't either, so I can appreciate that.

I find it ironic that people are saying we're the intolerant ones when they fail to see their own intolerance.

I suffer from both anxiety and depression, but mostly anxiety, and I have for many years. I have been seeing a wonderful therapist for about three years and she has helped me enormously. I also take a small amount of anti-anxiety medication daily, which helps to keep me on an even keel. Good luck to you. *hugs*

There is no excuse for someone to be rude about another's religion. I consider myself to be an agnostic with Pagan/Wiccan leanings, but I once considered myself a Christian, and I have many friends (including you!) who are Christian. I think everyone has to find her own path, and I think you were right to block that person who persists in bashing yours.

Well, hopefully we can come up with a good solution at some point. Right now things are ok, but nothing has really caused me a great deal of stress in the past few weeks, so...
