snapdragon76Well, once again I seem to be in a quandary. Yes, another one. Yes, it’s tiresome for me as well.
I seem to be stuck as to what I want to do. I mean REALLY do. I went to college for Psychology fully thinking I was going to go to grad school and be a therapist. And maybe that’s what I needed to think and do at the time, but then I wasn’t able to pay for grad school and things kinda went to the wayside for awhile.
Then I was unemployed for a while. I got by, true enough, but I felt like a bit of a freeloader to be honest even though I did have a sort of income coming in. Plus, I had health issues crop up that needed dealt with and STILL need dealt with. So I had to look for job to take care of that, plus have additional income coming in.
However, I ended up in a dead end job with a company that lost whatever moral compass it once had a while ago. So I was back to where I started. I mean, I was discussing this with mom the other day as a way of trying to discover our passions and our talents. Mom (and my dad) is good at photography. So I said I liked taking pictures as well, but I didn’t want to pursue it because I knew that that’s what mom is trying to get started for herself.
Then she said something that made me think a little. She said her specialty is wildlife photography. Going out in the wetlands and the woods and taking photos of what she finds there and doing it quite well. She told me that from what she’s seen of mine, that I’m more abstract. Maybe because I take a lot of close-ups of various things because I like the way the pattern is or the lighting or the angle. I hadn’t really thought of it that way. I mean, I am trying to get a tax ID number so that I can maybe sell a few prints so that I can try to get in a few extra dollars here and there.
As to whether I could do it for a profession, I honestly don’t know. I mean, I’ve had these thought before regarding various things. “Oh, I want to be a book editor!” being the latest one. It seems like it would be pretty fun and I get a chance to be a bit creative I suppose. I never really thought of myself as the artistic or creative type to be perfectly honest.
I think I need to think on it some more…
