snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Zero gun)
OK, I just finished catching up with Vampire Knight and I have some thoughts...

Well, in chapter 35, we discover that Yuki-Sue is in actuality a pure blood vampire!!! And she naturally discovers this with the help of Kaname. But wait, there's more!! Her parents apparently were important in the vampire hierarchy and all. Also, Kaname is her brother!!! Yes, she has romantic feelings for her BROTHER!! Not only that, but her parents are also SIBLINGS!!!! Since when did we cross over into V.C Andrews territory here?! Apparently it's common practice for pure blood vampires to intermarry, I'm guessing to continue to keep the bloodlines pure or something.

Her uncle was the one who attacked her family, and her mother pulled some sort of vampire hoo-doo on her to suppress her vampire side to protect her because, since she's a speshul flower and all, the Vampire Council wants her blood for whatever reason. This is also why she was RAISED IN A BASEMENT!!!! True, a nicely decorated finished basement, but a basement nonetheless. She wasn't even allowed outside...

Meanwhile, poor Zero is angsting over his vampiric status and slowly going insane due to his Level E rating on the Vampire Scale. His brother is still giving him a hard time and Kaname is being no help whatsoever because he's so threatened by Zero horning in on his incestuous relations with Yuki. Eww. I kept wanting to say, "Screw Kaname Zero! Just tell Yuki you have feelings for her (which I'm pretty sure he does)!!" But whenever he's around Yuki, she's always fawning over Kaname, much to Zero's (and my) disgust.

So Yuki is all cool with her vampire self and Zero finds out and is even MORE conflicted because Yuki has become one of the very things he was raised to hate and he's all struggling with his love/hate feelings and his own self-loathing for being a vampire himself and yadda yadda...

So Zero gets tossed into jail for some reason, I guess he was thought of as a threat or some such, I don't remember. Meanwhile, Yuki's uncle is revived and out for her blood and Kaname and the others are all lock down to protect the students and fight off the Vampiric Council members who suddenly showed themselves. Ichiru, who's angsting a mite himself due to his brother complex, tries to fight of Yuki's uncle Rido who's been revived and gets fatally injured in the process. He tells Zero how that since twins are never born to Hunter families because one always seals the essence of the other and kills them in the womb that they are always at conflict and that Ichiru was always sickly because Zero had taken the majority of his self and blahddy blee. So he implores Zero to eat him lest he lose to his vampire self and succumb to the insanity of being a human turned vampire. So he does. He then becomes stronger since he has the blood of three pure bloods running through him (Yuki, and Shizuka (the one who attacked his family and turned him into a vampire) and Kaname). So, it's up to him to kill Rido, something Kaname cannot bring himself to do, since Rido is Kaname's Master who resurrected him.

So, Rido is gunning for Yuki, who's all poised to fight him off, when Zero shows up on a tangle of thorny vines all bad ass (and sexy as hell), all set to kill Rido even though he knows that this frees up Yuki to run off with Kaname. It seems these vines also sprout out of him... O...K. Zero gives Yuki the cold shoulder and declaring them enemies even when Yuki wants to stay his ally.

I still like this series, but I want Yuki to stop fawning over Kaname to realize that, despite his protestations, Zero has feelings for her and she has some feelings for him. What can I say, I like Zero. A Lot. I want him and Yuki to get together (provided she has no more Mary Sue moments). Sure Kaname is dreamy and stuff, but he seems to have his head up his ass most of the time and has this whole "I'm better than you are" attitude going on. And he needs to stop being so possessive of Yuki. Yeah, he's "destined" to marry her one day (squick city), but let her be her own person for Pete's sake!!! I want Zero to prove himself to the others and say, "Hey, I'm bad ass too so STFU!"

TEAM ZERO!!!! Damn, he's a sexy beast...

OK, now I got that off my chest, time for bed...

Ugh, Yuki makes me want to vomit. Seriously, she's almost up there with Bella as far as Mary Sues go. I completely lost all respect for the story when Yuki turned out to be a sekkrit pureblood, so I haven't really been keeping up with everything except for snippets here and there. I did see the chapter where Zero had the vines coming out his hands, but I never read a scanlation for it.

Like you, I really like Zero even though he's oozing angst and emo from every pore. I'm so over Kaname (and wasn't there a twist where he turned out to be the incarnation of the Kuran ancestor, so he's not technically Yuki's brother...?), and Yuki is just...ugh. Barflicious.

Yes, I had to suppress a few eye rolls here and there. I was all, "A pure blood vampire?!?!!? You've GOT to be kidding me!!!" Me, I was all about Zero and his sexy self. I wanted to know what was going on with him. Screw all the Kaname/Yuki stuff. That squicks me something fierce even if he isn't technically related to her, it still counts in my books.

I just wanna hug Zero and molest him nine ways to Sunday and give him some sex luv and call him George...

Yeah, I'd hit that.

I just started buying that series for my big sister. Since the two of you remind me so much of each other, I'll just assume that her reaction to the whole Yuki situation will be almost identical to yours ^__^'.

I feel that way about freaking Orihime sometimes. I can't even stand to look at her any more without wanting to shoot her >__<. "Kurosaki-kuuuuuuun....Kurosaki-kuuuuuuuun." WOULD YOU JUST STFU PLEASE?!

....yeah.

Zero is in jail because he killed a pure blood.
I don't like Yuki/Zero...I guess it isn't my piece of cake

Well, this is only in Japanese. The English release has a ways to go yet.

I feel the same way. I try to like Orihime for the most part, but with all that's happening in the manga lately, with her power upgrade and all the characters fighting for her, she's treading dangerously into Sue territory. And I'm not just saying this as a Ichigo/Ruki fan... mostly. ^___~

Well, I don't want him to spend the rest of his life all alone, so unless there's another contender in line, I'd like to see 'em.

My bad, I was thinking about the Tokyo Pop release, 'Vampire Game.' I got her the first volume for her birthday this summer ^__^'. I don't read either series, so I don't even bother with trying to differentiate between the two -__-'. But she is reading Vampire Knight on OneManga though. She hasn't complained about a particular character though...yet.

I used to like Orihime, but she's just so...bleh. Don't get me wrong, I like sweet characters, but I hate hopeless ones. I just can't stomach Orihime anymore. She’s such a crybaby/sob-story; and that ain’t cute at all *rolls eyes*. As far as the way that the manga is going...Kubo's already done the whole damsel in distress bit with the Rukia. Why do the same thing again? I read 'Bleach' here and there these days; mainly for the fights...and Rukia ^__^v. And no, I don’t dislike Orihime because of Rukia either. I dislike Orihime because of Orihime.

I know, there are so many similarly titled series out there, it's hard to differentiate between them...

I will probably still read VK as it comes out in English, because I'm a completest like that (and a book whore, but you knew that already).

Well, I feel a little guilty for feeling that way about Orihime because it'd be like hating Tohru or something. But Tohru never delved into Mary Sue territory like this. This is bordering on sickening...

That bad, huh? Wow...

Well, here I was sorta agreeing with you in regards to Orihime, but I guess it could apply in this case.

Oh... *duh*

Yes, Orihime is really starting to grate on my nerves. I really want to like her but erm...that's nearly impossible now ^__^'.

Yeah, especially since the Hueco Mundo Arc...
