snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Jacen Solo)
Well, I submitted my entry in the "Name the Next Sith Lord" contest on starwars.com. My crossover to the Geek Side is now complete. I'm not going to reveal the name I chose until the contest is over. I think it's a pretty awesome name myself.

I have some icon ideas I wanna fiddle with, but I need to get my PS working somehow...

I stopped by the Human Resources Dept. and filled out the required paperwork I needed to do, then stopped by the Drug Testing place to submit a urine sample, all without getting lost. Since my sense of direction is pretty lame, I must say. I'm proud of myself. Now I must hunt for my Social Security card so I can fax a copy to them. I never carry it on me since they say there's a higher risk for identity theft, so now I have to figure out where the hell I put it.

After all that was done, I stopped to see mom (per her request) and filled her in on the details. After which I swung by the bookstore. I was looking for Emma and the newest Legacy comic, but I found neither. What I did find was the latest Star Wars Insider magazine and volume 4 of NANA. I went to Books-A-Million to see it I'd have any luck there. Well I did, but of a different sort. I got Saiyuki Reload 5, Bus Gamer and Buso Renkin 2.

I watch Veronica Mars this morning while eating my breakfast. Spoilerish details under the cut...

Veronica is so gonna kick ass in Criminology class. She pwned the TA (aka Lucky 2).

People are complaining about the new opening sequence. I think it looks fine. The song remix isn't bad either.

I just love the father/daughter banter between Keith and Veronica. It's so cute.

Piz isn't too bad... so far. I'm not gonna love or hate on him until I see more episodes.

LoVe!! *squee* I know people have said they like it when they're snarky with each other, but I like the cute moments too. A mix of both is perfection.

Mac! I like Mac. She and Veronica compliment each other very well. You can tell she's still torn up over what happened to Cassidy last season, but she looks like she's hanging on.

Dick is being Dick. Implications are that he somewhat blames Logan for Beaver taking a swan dive off the hotel. Not that it was really his fault. But it definitely put a strain on the friendship. I mean, Dick may have treated his little brother like crap, but he was still family.

Parker. Good Lord. I feel for ya, Mac. I really do.

Wow. that argyle shirt's been around, hasn't it?

I can totally see why Piz'd take an interest in Veronica. She's pretty hot, and smart to boot. But keep givin' me my LoVe, at least for a good while now. Don't need any Viz...

Uh oh. Poor Parker...

Dude, what happened with Dick?

I was sitting here saying "They didn't have even one copy of Emma?" when I realized you might not mean Jane Austen's Emma.

The question is, does that make me less or more of a geek?

That Emma I have, This is a manga called Victorian Romance Emma.

I'd say it's the pot calling the kettle black...

I did think it must be Victorian Romance Emma, yes. I just didn't know that was being published yet. I'll probably pick it up myself. Along with however many volumes of Death Note are out now that I haven't read. (Yes, everyone has been into Death Note forever except me.)

Yes, unfortunately it was picked up by CMX who's translations can be a bit... sketchy.

So far, there are 7 volumes of Death Note out in English. I hope you enjoy. It's a very interesting series.

Good luck in the contest!

You had to submit a urine sample? Ugh. I hate that kind of invasion of privacy.

Viz. Heh.

Thank you.

It's for drug testing. Pretty standard. It doesn't bother me, since I know they're not going to find anything.

Yeah...

It's not standard here, thankfully. It doesn't bother you that employers think they have the right to know such personal information?
Date/Time: 2006-10-05 16:52 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] snapdragon76.livejournal.com
Not really. If you were an employer, wouldn't you want to know if your employee was doing drugs, therefore affecting their performance and the reputation of your company?

Something like sexual orientation or religion would be something altogether different...

Nope. What the employee choses to do with his or her free time is his or her prerogative. Once the extracurricular activities start to affect the work performance, then the employer has the right to investigate and deal with it as he or she deems fit. But that can apply to many things including drinking, staying up too late online or partying, not being a good worker, etc...

Well, then, we'll just agree to disagree, OK?

Fine by me.
