Well, my weekend was a thrill a minute. Friday was par for the course. Movie night (Star Trek Insurrection). Saturday was where the real fun began.
After mom came back from her outing with my aunt, we went grocery shopping. First we stopped by the Cracker Barrel to eat lunch. While we were there, the sky decided it would open up and let loose 1000 years of rain, or so it seemed.
We were able to swim to the store and do our shopping. We were low on just about everything, so we had quite the cart full. Mom still has to be careful with how much she lifts, so I--with little to no upper body strength--had to do most of the lifting.
When we got home, we noticed that our boy cat, Ori was looking a little peaked. We thought it was just the weather at first since he hates thunderstorms. But after awhile, he didn't perk up any. We watched him for a bit and he didn't have any activity at all. We started to grow concerned and since it was getting later out, thought about taking him to the all night Emergency Vet Clinic. We hauled out the pet carrier and put him in it. When we got out to the car, he started to complain like he usually does (as well as have a little accident). So we thought it meant he was feeling better. We took him back inside and cleaned him up. Mom went to cuddle him (which he hates) and when he didn't try to wiggle out of her arms, we knew he was sicker than we first thought.
So we haul him out to the car again, sans carrier and headed to the clinic. They took him to the back and started doing tests on him and we practically had to sign our souls away in order to try and pay for it. The initial diagnosis was diabetes since his blood sugar was so high. The next morning, however, it started to go down and they explained that sometimes cats under stressful situations tend to have high blood sugar. His latest test indicate that his blood sugar has gone down again, so he's probably not diabetic after all, which is a relief since insulin for cats can be expensive.
Now they're trying to get him to eat some and raise his body temperature since it's lower than they like. Hopefully he'll get to feeling better to a point where we can take him home today. Our regular vet called earlier since the clinic called him, and left a message on the machine wanting to know his progress. I called back and said to the receptionist that he was still at the clinic.
So needless to say, we've had a little setback. Money-wise especially. I tell you what, life can bite my ass at this point. If it's not one thing, it's another. Hopefully, I'll hear something positive from the job interview I had on Thursday and shall be employed soon. However, knowing the kinda luck I tend to run, I'm not holding my breath.
ETA: My cat's dying...

ETA: My cat's dying...
Trivia of the day: The Associated Press reported in December 1985, in Eugene, Oregon, a 6-month-old kitten set a Christmas tree on fire while batting at the lighted bulbs. The heat of the fire cracked a nearby fishbowl, and water from the bowl doused some of the fire. Firefighters arrived within minutes of the fire starting and put out the fire, which had spread to the carpet. A goldfish named Clyde was found lying prone in the cracked bowl, and when put into another bowl with water, was quickly revived and survived the ordeal. The water in Clyde's bowl had prevented the fire from getting out of control.<--whoa!

The thing that upset me the most was that he was so young. He was only 4.

I hope things get better for you, your mom, and all of your other kitties.
The sun always returns after a rainstorm. ♥
