I sent off the wrong book I was sent. I guess we'll have to see what happens. If I get a credit, I'm using it for vol. 10 if possible.
I bought a copy of the new Shojo Beat manga compliation. I kinda like it. There are some stories I like in there more than others. Here are the ones I'm interested in, in order:
Nana (Ai Yazawa) -- This is the story of two very different girls who have the same name. One is a boy-crazy high school graduate trying to find her place in the world and the other is an up-and-coming rocker. I really like the story so far and the art is really good. And of course, lots of bishies!
Absolute Boyfriend (Yuu Watase) -- This is a series about an awkward high school girl who really wants to have a boyfriend. However, a chance encounter with a strange salesman might grant her her wish...
Again, the art is good. It's by the same manga-ka who did 'Fuushigi Yuugi.' The story definitely looks interesting. And, again, the bishies...
Godchild (Kaori Yuki) -- This story is set in Victorian England and is gothic. It's about this mysterious nobleman who I think solves crimes. I only read one chapter so it's a little vague. Still, the art isn't bad and the story seems interesting. It's done by the same manga-ka who does 'Angel Sanctuary' so that kind of tells you a little of the style it's in...
Kaze Hikaru (Taeko Watanabe) -- This is a period piece set during the 19th Century in Japan. It's about a girl who secretly joins the Shinsengumi to avenge the death of her family. It's a little like 'Rurouni Kenshin' for girls, I guess. Looks to be interesting. It's a little combination of shojo and shonen.
That's pretty much all the one's I'm really interested in. There are two other stories in there. 'Baby & Me' and 'Crimson Hero.' I never read B&M so I don't know what it's about and CH is about a female volleyball player who wants to play even though her family is against it and her high school doesn't even have a girls volleyball team. It doesn't look bad.
Yesterday, instead of having Bible Study, we helped one of our group members move his dad into the house next door. It wasn't too bad, but it started to rain a little and of course, it was majorly humid after that...
I plan to do some major scanning today, so hopefully I'll be able to get that done at some point. Maybe sometime tomorrow, I'll get around to writing up my commentary on 'Immortal Rain.'
