snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Aki/Kureno "Wild Horses" (flamika))
Well the time has come for the latest chapter of Furuba to have been released. And it's quite revealing...

When last we left Tohru, she had overheard Rin and Shigure talk about the possibility of the curse being released sometime in their lifetimes. Rin commented that she didn't care when, as long as it happened. Tohru was upset and said that it had to be broken before next spring. She then left in tears...

This chapter opens with Tohru wandering in a daze, lost in her own thoughts. She is afraid that Shigure and Rin might have discovered her true intentions in working to release the curse. She thinks back to a time earlier when Rin had asked her what the most important thing to her was. She was upset with herself for not answering with her mom right away. Someone else had started to come to her mind instead (we all know it was Kyo). Then Tohru thinks back to the time Akito told her of the upcoming imprisonment of Kyo. Tohru is fully aware of her feelings for Kyo, but she won't allow herself to accept them because of a promise she'd made to herself when she left the apartment she lived in with her mother after Kyoko's death. She thinks back to that day she moved out and had finished packing up her things and her grandfather waits for her. They talk and he does call her by her given name at first, but then statrs to call her Kyoko when they leave. Tohru is focused on the fact that she feels her mother's presence leave the apartment so soon.

The promise she makes herself is that no matter what, no matter what happens to her in her life, her first and foremost thought would always be her mother. She believes if she doesn't, her grief would simply be too much for her.

Suddenly, Shigure's hand grabs hers and stops her. He tells her if she continues going on the path she is, she'll end up at he Main House. He then starts to lead her back to their house. He tells her he wasn't aware that there was someone other than Rin wanting to break the curse.

Tohru then asks Shigure if he always knew that the curse was coming to an end. He brushes the suggestion off, but admits he felt that was the situation. He then tells her about the rarity of all 12 of the Jyuunishi being alive at the same time. He mentions how excited the ladies in waiting were at such a prospect. He always thought it was because that this would be the last banquet since the curse has been in effect.

Shigure further explains to Tohru that the Jyuunishi blood has weakened over the years and tells her that Kureno was freed simply because it was time for him to be. Kureno himself had nothing to do with it.

He then goes to say that the animals themselves have gone as far as they can go, especially in regards to how it was in the past. He gives the example of Hatori turning into a seahorse (I guess it used to be, the one cursed with the Year of the Dragon actually turned into a dragon).

Shigure talks of how even Kureno feels the curse is coming to and end (even though he is no longer cursed) and that all the small little circumstances that have been happening is further proof. Shigure mentions an earlier conversation he had with Kureno where Kureno asked if that was the reason Shigure got Tohru involved with the family. To create further rifts within (most especially with Akito).

He tells Tohru that Kyo that he'll have to take a chance of his own, or else he really will be locked away. The rest of the Jyuunishi have always known what the fat of the cat would be, but they said nothing about it.

Shigure says the Jyuunishi are regarded as nothing but monsters. The curse is just that: a horrible burden that causes nothing but pain and sorrow to those it involves, directly and indirectly. It makes living in the real world extremely difficult. The one thing that helps to ease that burden is the cat. The fact they they're so much worse off than the rest of them. They see that at least their situation in life is at least better than the cat's.

Shigure then tells Tohru to go and ask the others about how they feel about the cat's imprisonment and that she might be surprised at the answers they give. Then Tohru actually pushes Shigure slightly, interrupting him before he can finish.

She thinks back to after she first met Hatori and he told her about the true nature of the curse, how it was dark and insidious in nature. She hadn't fully understood what he had meant until just then. She also realizes she can never truly understand the pain they go through.

Shigure tries to tell Tohru again that the curse will probably end on it's own soon. Then he starts to ask her about Kyo but he stops after he sees the look on her face.

Tohru is still torn about wanting to keep her mother's memory alive in her heart, because if she doesn't she feels she'll disappear forever. Suddenly, she remembers someone some time ago telling her she was annoying (the consensus seems to lean towards Manabe).

Shigure tell Tohru he hadn't meant to tell her to hurt her, just to make her fully realize the truth of the situation. Tohru is then surprised to find Kyo standing nearby. He's carrying the things she dropped at the dojo.

Shigure then tells Kyo that the reason she's crying is because she had gotten into a fight with Rin. Kyo seemed slightly surprised at this. He then takes a gift bag from Kyo that Tohru had planned on giving to Rin and says he'll deliver it to her. He then turns to Tohru and tells her he can't say anything more and to not lose hope or give up.

Kyo, meanwhile, is stilled stunned by the fact that Tohru would get in a fight with anyone. Tohru is still having an internal struggle between Kyo and Kyoko, not wanting either to leave. She starts to cry again and Kyo makes the comment that it must've been some fight with Rin and that he would've liked to have seen it. Tohru says she doesn't know what to do. Kyo just tells her that sometimes if there's nothing else to do, than just to cry. All Tohru can do is just apologize to herself for her conflict.

Wow! I wanted to get that down as soon as I read it so it would be somewhat fresh. I still had to look some details up, though. And on that note, I'd like to extend my gratitude to the webmistress of the site who provided the summary. *bows*

I did some spring cleaning yesterday... of my computer. I defragmented it so things could be smoother running.

My doctor's appointment went fine yesterday. My Crohn's is behaving itself (as well it should). I go again in six months.

I had mentioned to [livejournal.com profile] tangerrine that we need to find an NF fan who was also a fanartist so I could get a pic of Xyon. She then mentioned something about the cover of 'The Quiet Place' which has a supposed representation. I countered with saying that it didn't count since that wasn't the 'regular' artist and they didn't do a very good job... I stand by my statement.

Quote of the day: "Sometimes our first love isn't the one we were meant to spend the rest of our lives with." --Me (ya hear that, Xyon!!!)

I belong to a forum that, through various sources, keeps very up to date on the latest chapter releases. There are a lot of rampant spoilers around for the non-English releases, though...
