snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Default)
I've decided I'm doing something a weeee bit different this year. I still plan on sending out Christmas letters, but I'm also posting it online for people to read who I don't have a physical address for or that I know checks my Facebook page on a regular basis. That way, it cuts down on how much I mail out. If anyone still wants me to send out a physical letter to them, just let me know and I'll message you for your address (as well as mine if you want to send a card). My email will be fine too. It's danielle.bates32@gmail.com

Hello everyone!!

Here’s hoping everyone is having a pleasant holiday season! We are doing quite well here in Tennessee.
After living in Florida for as long as we did, it definitely took a little adjustment in getting used to the winter weather, but we’ve been able to manage so far. You almost forget how beautiful freshly fallen snow can look, but then you look outside of the window and see it on the mountaintops and it can be quite breathtaking.

As for us, Danielle is still working on her Master’s Degree in School Library Media at East Tennessee State University. There are only two semesters left to go with a projected graduation date of December 2015. It’s a little ways to go yet, but with a lot of perseverance, it can be done!

David and Sharon (Danielle’s dad and step-mother) came for a visit in September for a little over a week. Accompanying them was a lady named Sally, who is living with them for a while. It was a very nice visit, with trips to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg as well as the Biltmore in Asheville, NC. We also celebrated Dave’s birthday and had a nice family dinner as well.

Linda is enjoying semi-retirement. She’s been working on a few projects around the house as well as polishing her photography skills around the area. There is a lot to see around here, with the seasonal changes and the mountains. We’ve also been exploring some of the local neighborhoods in the historic district as well as observing the historical sites from the 18th Century that are available.

The cats are being their usual ornery selves. Tor-T is now four years old and still a pistol and loves getting into things and chasing the established cat, Moon. They’ve both settled into their own routines, such as lying in the sun and chasing their tails (that’s mostly Tor-T).

Hopefully, the coming year will hold many more adventures and pleasant surprises for everyone and that we’ll all be happy and healthy in the months and years to come.
God Bless,

Linda, Danielle, Moon and Tor-T

It's pretty short. We've had a pretty low-key year.

I also finished all of my classwork for my classes for this semester. The hardest one was the Research Proposal I had to write. I don't know what sort of grade I'll get but at least I finished it. I also have an interview for a GA position at the on-campus laboratory school library on Thursday. I don't know if I'll get the position or not, but here's hoping. Maybe I'll be a GA once again and hopefully I won't screw this one up!
