Wow, I totally meant to do this earlier in the week, but I wussed out and didn't do it. So, this will be the final post for 2011!

Now, my thoughts may be a bit scattered since I saw these last week, so I shall do my best.

The opening was interesting. They played the Karen O and Trent Reznor version of "Immigrant Song" over animated images of what looked like oil covered Lisbeth and Blomkvist and computer keyboards and cables and handcuffs and such. Hmm. While I'll always think the original Led Zeppelin version of the song is awesome, I do like this version too. I may have to download it. I think this song was chosen because it's about Vikings which come Sweden and surrounding areas.

Rooney Mara I think makes a very good Lisbeth. Not only does she have the look down, but the whole persona as well. I personally can't picture Scarlett Johansson as Lisbeth. For one thing, she doesn't have the right body type, and for another I don't think she'd be able to embody the character as well. So, good choice, Fincher.

And yeah, Daniel Craig is damn sexy. I can see him more as a hotshot investigative reporter who is popular with the ladies as well. See, this is also why he's a good Bond. Plus, he looks pretty decent with his shirt off, I gotta say.

I read where this was filmed during the coldest winter Sweden's ever had. Yeah, I can tell.

I don't think Rooney has a bad Swedish accent, but then I haven't heard a lot of that particular accent, so I'm a poor person to judge.

Dude, I knew there was a rape scene, having both read the book and seen the original Swedish movie, but it's still very hard to watch and very intense. I heard the actor who played the rapist locked himself in his hotel room after filming and cried afterward. I can see why.

They included Blomkvist's daughter in this version unlike the Swedish version. That was nice.

Ahhh, the boob shots. Doesn't really bother me, though since I see that all the time.

You know, I kind of like the relationship dynamic between Lisbeth and Blomkvist. I have since I read the book. It's not just because of the hot sex, but the slow development of trust between them. It takes a lot for Lisbeth to trust someone, and it's good that she begins to. Too bad it all takes a step backwards in the end. Which is why I tend to ignore that aspect of the ending, lol!

Awww, damn! That poor cat!! That's almost as bad as the rape scene!! DDDD:

Basically, in the end, I think Lisbeth kicks ass. I hope they make the next two movies.

In short, I was pleased with this version of the movie. Whatever cuts were made, they were minor and had no affect on the film as a whole. I have plans to buy this on DVD when it comes out.

I think I'll go and see this this again on my day off on Wednesday.

I thought this movie was... okay. I know it's been getting lots of rave reviews, but I wasn't overly impressed. I didn't want to walk out like my mom did, but I doubt I'll see it again anytime soon.

Annnnd we get an F-Bomb right off the bat. Nice. In fact, there are a LOT of F-Bombs in this movie. Moreso than in 'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' which kind of surprised me. I think that was one of the reasons I was turned off. I mean, I think people put it in there anymore for the shock value. Whatever. You'd think I'd be used to F-Bombs from listening to Dayna on Made of Fail all this time, but I guess not.
