snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Al & Ed photograph (sleepdebtfairy))
Well, this weekend was... interesting to say the least. Lemme break it down.

Friday:

Well, I semi-broke my bookstore exclusion. I got my last issue of Shojo Beat, the latest issue of Anime Insider (mostly for the coverage on the FMA movie, Bleach and Trinity Blood) as well as Death Note 7, ES 2 and Buso Renkin 1. I still haven't found TriMax 9, but if push comes to shove I can order it from Amazon.

I also got some more yarn for my next project. Yes, it's another scarf, but this time I want to try and switch the colors.

Friday night is our movie night and we watched The Wedding Date. It wasn't bad I thought. It'd be something I'd probably watch again although mom said she probably wouldn't.

Saturday:

The morning was pretty uneventful. Mom did some stuff around the house and then changed the fuses on my brake lights so that they'd work again. Then we got ready for the game. The sky was looking ominous, so I was a bit worried that the game would be canceled. First we stopped by Target so I could show mom the purse I saw that I'm thinking about getting since the one I've been using is starting to fall apart.

We got to the ballpark and, after collecting our freebies, went to find our seats. They weren't assigned, so we could basically sit anywhere we wanted on the upper deck. Mom saw some friends of ours and went to talk to them a bit. The clouds kept rolling in and sure enough, it started to rain. Luckily we were able to seek shelter behind the stadium where the concessions stands were. We didn't know how long the rain was going to last, so we thought we'd wait it out. I ate my obligatory hot dog while we waited.

However, what happens next is one for the books. We were standing next to this "lounge" and there were four people behind us in the lounge itself. Well, the guy had clearly had a few too many, and for the most part I was able to ignore them. I mean, they weren't being overly loud or obnoxious, but sorta borderline. Anyway, they get my attention and ask me where I got my T-shirt. I was wearing one I had gotten from American Eagle a few years ago and it says "Lotus Blossom Club and Lounge" on the back (not a real place, however). Anyway, the guy says the lady he was with's name was Lotus and she worked for a company that was also called American Eagle (not the clothing manufacturer, though). They asked me where I got my shirt, and I told them, failing to mention that that particular shirt probably wasn't available anymore. I thought the matter was dropped and went about my business. However, that wasn't the end of it. They then asked me if I'd be willing to trade them my shirt for one of the cheap freebies that were handed out at the entrance of the stadium. I said no, that I liked my shirt and planned on keeping it. I was incredulous. Did they honestly expect me to shed my shirt and just give it to them! Especially since I paid almost $25.00 for it originally! I don't care if her name was Lotus or not. The nerve!

Needless to say, the game was called and we trudged our way to the car, getting soaked in the process. So when we got home, I hopped into the shower and then fixed me some Green Tea to warm me up a bit from being in the rain. Then I treated myself to a mini pedicure since I was in dire need of one.

Sunday:

Church and Sunday School. We had a new Sunday School class, so it was pretty interesting. After church we stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few things and then we went home. The ballgame that was canceled was rescheduled for noon, but neither one of us felt like going, so we didn't. There was also a baby shower we were invited to, but we didn't go to that, either. I watched more of Pride and Prejudice (not the Kiera Knightly version, but the BBC miniseries version) and gave myself a manicure.

Oh, and I was flipping channels and I heard this song on the TV. At first I thought I was hearing things, but then I saw it was a promo... on Turner Classic Movies! It was a bit surreal.

And I'm looking for another song that was played on a promo on the Discovery Channel.

Trivia of the day: Only sixteen Concordes were ever made, the last in 1980. On New Year's Eve 1994, one Concorde plane carried wealthy revelers on a 32-hour trip to nowhere. These travelers, who paid $23,000 apiece for the trip, rang in the New Year twice because they twice crossed the International Date Line.
