snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Howl -- bishie shine!!)
Well, I went yesterday to see HMC and...

... I loved it!! It was so very wonderful. I was enchanted almost from the very beginning. The music, the backgrounds, everything was just so beautifully done.

Howl was such a charmer, even from the very beginning. He literally swept Sophie off of her feet. I was just awed that I actually finally got to see him in moving and talking glory... And I knew I was going to giggle during the hair trauma scene and I did. Personally, I think I like him with his darker hair.

But anyway... I really liked Sophie as well. I liked her spunk and her perserverance. Even after the Witch of the Waste cursed her, she was determined not to wallow in self pity like some would've done. And I noticed, aside from the brief moments where we see her young, that as the movie progresses, she gets noticeably younger. She was able to find the courage and beauty within herself. And I never really noticed an accent change. Unless people are refering to when she's her younger self and her older self. That's to be somewhat expected though since not only did two seperate women do the voices, but people's voices tend to change as they grow older.

Markl was adorable! Even in his disguise. I thought it was cute when, as he and Sophie were shopping, he kept saying he didn't like the food she was picking out. How like a little boy. He's actually quite responsible for someone so young.

Calcifer was good, too. I actually thought Billy Crystal's voice fit really well with him. There were times where he was serious and times when he wasn't so serious.

I like Turnip Head as well! He had a personality of his own, even if he didn't say anything. I thought it was cute that he'd follow Sophie around. After all, he did have a little crush on her...

I even liked the dog, Hein. How he'd wheeze and waddle behind. He seemed to be a very smart dog, though.

And even though I never fully finished the book (I'm working on it, though), I thought the movie stil had the same spirt as the book. True, the WotW was more menacing in the book and Howl didn't turn into a bird creature (more on that a bit later), but I still felt the presence of the book. It was interesting how Madame Suliman was not only the Wizard Suliman, but also a bit of Mrs. Pentstemmon from the book as well.

I like the romantic elements in the movie, too. Even though the book has a bit more realistic and gradual romance, the movie's was very charming and cute. Being the romantic I am, I absolutely adored it, of course.

There were a few loose ends that confused me, such as why exactly Howl turned into that bird creature. Did it have something to do with the curse he was under? And what happened to the aftermath of the bombing raid on the town? I mean, I saw that the castle was rebuilt, but what happened to everything else?

Still, I'd most definitely go and see it again. And once it comes out on DVD, I'm snatching up a copy. As I left the theater, my thoughts were filled with the wonder and beauty of the movie...

I've made more icons. I've loaded them onto my other Photobucket account and plan to post on my icon journal again... maybe. Did anyone look at my previous entry on it?

And, I've made a conscious decision that I'm going to cut down on my internet time. I'll still get on everyday, but not stay on as long. And, I'm gonna go out and walk more. I need to get out of the house as it is anyway... It'll be hard, but it's something that needs to be done.

Cutting down on internet time is definitely healthy. I've been walking every day for three weeks and feel great! :D
