snapdragon76: this is made of win and awesome (Default)
Well, it's Wednesday already. Not much to do today. I need to make some address labels for Grandma and that's pretty much all I have to do. I might stop by the bookstore today to look around. Maybe stop by Best Buy and the mall. Oh, "Shrek 2" is coming out on November 5 (this Friday). I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick it up. I've got enough on my Christmas list as it is.

I added my "Immortal Rain" titles to my Manga List on Listerx. I have 53 currently. And I don't think I even added my copies of Ranma 1/2. I need to update my DVD list sometime, too.

I'm really glad I decided to get a subscription to Entertainment Weekly. They have such good soundbites. Such as this one about all the Election stuff: "Remember, if you don't vote the right way, killer wolves will attack you and rip the flesh from your bones (not that those ads are trying to scare you)." It really feels that way sometimes.

Another thing which I totally agree on was found in an article about "The Incredibles" (which I want to see): "I think people have forgotten that [Bugs Bunny cartoons] were made for people who were going to see the latest Humphrey Bogart film. They weren't made for kids. Animation is not a genre, it's a medium. And it can express any genre. I think people often sell it short. But 'because it's animated, it must be for kids.' You can't name another medium where people do that."

I think that's totally true. I've gotten many a funny look due to my love of anime. People have a tendancy to think of it as cartoon and therefore only for kids. Most of the anime out there isn't for kids at all. And it's not just anime, either. I happen to like Disney stuff also. There needs to not be such stigma for enjoying such things.

Animation is my favorite art medium. People that pass it off as being 'for kids' don't even appreciate all of the time, effort, and talent that gets put into putting an animated flick together. Hopefully we can really change people's misconception about animation so the next generation doesn't have to put up with being considered 'kiddy' for liking it.

Hi! I saw one of your posts on the immortal rain community and came over to check out your journal. I love Immortal Rain and CSI! *lol* Was wondering if I could friend ya and vica versa. But just as a warning, I'm weird and totally random! I post a lot too. :)

Neither can I. I can barely make icons with text in them.

Of course you can friend me! Always like making new friends! As long as I can do the same. ~_^

Yes, I'll probably gush a lot about IR. Mostly it'll be in my Anime/Manga journal [livejournal.com profile] ryudoshi. I'm greatly looking forward to volume 4 coming out in December. I pre-ordered it from Tokyopop already. Also, fair warning, I'm starting to 'ship Rain and Machika so I'll probably do my fair share of gushing about that as well.

I love Rain & Machika!! My favorite one so far has been #2, because you really seen how their relationship grows and it's just great! I can't wait for the fourth either!! I thought it was coming out this month, so I'm all upset that it's in December. :(
