Hide the Rum

In case you missed my previous post I changed my layout yet again. My Mikami one lasted a pretty long time I'll admit.

Anyway, pretty long weekend, a-ho!!

Friday:

Well, movie night didn't pan out, so Friday night was pretty sedate. I watched the last part of "I ♥ the 70's Volume II". You know me, I'm such a nostalgia show whore. I also was able to catch 'Dracula 2000' on TNT. Not too bad. Until they come to the part of Drac's origins, then I was like, "You've got to be kidding me!!" Still, Gerard Butler as Drac and then as the Phantom. He's someone I wouldn't mind bumping into in a dark alley sometime...

Saturday:

Many errands were run on this day. We stopped by the Ink Refill place since we needed some ink and it was cheaper than buying brand new, so I have colored ink again. Now maybe I can print off those Furuba bookmarks I've had on my computer for some time now.

We were gonna get our sleeping bags from the storage unit, but we forgot to bring the key for the lock, so that was a no go. We swung by the grocery store and got some groceries. I also got me some yarn so I could start on my scarf. I've been crocheting like a fiend for the past couple of days, but my scarf is really coming along. I want it to be pretty long, so I've got a ways to go yet. I may take a picture of it to keep track of my progress. I had to rest my wrist for a bit because the repetitive motion was starting to bother it. I had to pull out a couple of rows because it began to become crooked, but it's straightened out some. I even crocheted during church (I could still pay attention to what was going on, though).

Sunday:

First was church. Then, we went to the movies. We went to see 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest' (more on that in a bit). First, an amusing little incident or 'When fandoms collide with Real Life.' In the parking lot of the theater we passed by a yellow Nissan XTerra and I let out a somewhat involuntary squeak. Mom snickered and said, "You only did that because of Logan." Busted. So I said back to her, "Yeah, and if I see another one, I'll probably do the same thing." In fact, on the way home, I very nearly did. I tried to suppress myself, but something may have slipped out. Mom remarked, "I caught that."

Anyway, onto the movie!! Man, I so need to upload some of my POTC icons...

[++]Orlando Bloom = HOT!!

[++] Johnny Depp = HOT!! (in a quirky, eccentric way. But then, I've always thought he was hot in general)

[++] Jack Davenport (aka Norrington) = HOT!! (I never thought this in the first movie, but in the second one he looks more scruffy and rugged and well... a lot hotter)

OK, now that I got my shallowness out of the way...

I know a lot of reviewers gave this movie so-so ratings, but me, I didn't care. I still liked it. A lot. I'll probably go and see it again sometime to catch the stuff I may have missed before. A few points:

[-]The new nasty guy. Didn't like him, Pompous ass, but that just meant he was a good antagonist. Mom swore she'd seen him before, and after a quick look-up on iMDB, I was able to figure out where. He played Mr. Collins in the newest version of 'Pride & Prejudice.' Small world.

[--]Jack's necklace of toes. Just... eww.

[+]Elizabeth kicking ass and taking names. Awesome.

[-/+]Will's being beaten by his dad (?!), even if it was to spare him from the more vicious one from the bosun's. However, we do get to see Orlando with his shirt off, so it kinda made up for it...

[-]Davey Jones hisself. I mean, the tentacles were a nice touch, but man. What a crab. Ha Ha!

[-]The crewman who... melded into the sides of the ship. Gnarly. Although, when he came out a bit to tell Will about the key, you could kinda see his brains, which was kinda cool, in a weird way...

[+/-]The KRAKEN!! OMG!! Whoa! That's one huuuge mofo right there. Cool critter, but not one I'd want to come across. *shudders*

[++]The sword fight on the beach and in the mill wheel. Pretty cool if you ask me.

[+]The voodoo priestess. Yeah, I liked her. I noticed she tried to hit on Will, not that I'm one to blame her of course. And Jack's comment, "It's me front I'm worried about." *snicker*

[-]Elizabeth shackling Jack to the Pearl. Whoa! She does have a devious side to her. Of course, all Will saw washer kissing him, so it kinda hurt him some (well, perhaps more than some).

[+]The Kraken then proceeding to slime Jack. I'm sorry, that was just funny. I will admit, I like the fact that Jack wasn't going out without a fight. Whoo!

[??]Barbossa at the end. *blinks* I was like, "Whoa Nelly!"

So now we have to wait a year before the third one comes out. *moans*

So far today I plan on washing the towels and vacuuming the floors. And I've been instructed by mom that I need to watch some of my 'Angel' episodes I have saved on the DVR, so I need to do that at some point today...

Trivia of the day: When Franklin D. Roosevelt died on April 12, 1945, Harry Truman became the first U.S. President to take office in the midst of a war.

POTC2 rocks!

Best bit for me..... well there are too many to list (try every bit with Jack in)
I'm not an Elizabint fan and I hated how she's gone quite Mary Sue in the latest films!!!
The Kraken! OMG I love it. Beastie was cool. And Jack's sliming (literally) by Beastie was funny. On the up side for Jack... He got his hat back!!!!!! So yay! I might be going for a second trip to the cinema this week - or next, depending on money flow and free time away from work!

YES!!

For me, it was all about Will...

*dreamy sigh*

Glad to hear that you liked it

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

Yah know, I felt kind of bad for Jack when Elizabeth shackled him to the ship...but erm, what he did to Will was a little...not so nice too ^__^'. But then again, Jack is a pirate. And yes, the new bad guy is a huge horse's ass. I hope that he gets eaten by the beastie at the end of the third movie >__<. What a jerk! BTW: shoujo22 --> glad to see he monkey again ^__^v

**END of Spoilers**

And what a cliff hanger! I'm definitely going to see the third movie *nods*

Well, yeah, Jack is a pirate so that's pretty much who he is, but we still have a fondness for him anyway.

Ohhh, the Kraken might have indigestion if it ate that guy...

Yep, I also thought.......

Gerry physically looked good as Dracula. The 1891 scenes were my favs:)

I only caught a few brief glimpses of those actually. I had channel surfed during commercial and didn't quite make it back in time. I got to the part where Van Helsing was explaining how he captured Drac and how some of his blood got mixed in with his and all that stuff...
