snapdragon76: I like reading. A lot. (Harry Potter books)
Well, I was just unfriended on Facebook by someone who said I was being ‘rude’ for asking people to show respect towards Caitlyn Jenner and other trans* persons and that if they weren’t, that they please unfollow me. While Facebook in and of itself may be a public forum, my personal Facebook page is mine and if I want people to be respectful on it, that’s my right. I can’t understand why people who call themselves Christians can treat other people so abominably. That’s the antithesis of what Christianity is, at least to me. Now I know why people think the majority of Christians are pedophilic hypocrites. It’s rather sad. As for me, I’ll continue to follow the intent of Christianity: Love your neighbor as yourself.

I’m not going to let myself be upset over it or anything. It’s for the best. One less person I have to tiptoe around anyway. And my mom is being amazing. She’s behind me 100%. I love her.

Aside from that little bit of drama, things have been pretty low key. Summers generally are. The pool is officially open, but I haven’t made it down there yet. Either it’s too crowded or the weather is too bad.

The local public library is having a comic con on the 27th and I want to try and go, since it’s free and all. It might be kinda fun. Plus, it’ll get me out of the house for a bit.

I moved some files from an old external hard drive from my desktop computer and I’ve been going through them. My desktop has the ability to record from the TV if the cable is set up and I had some old shows from years ago that I’d recorded. I have an editing program from when I had a school assignment and I’ve been using it to edit out old commercials and the like. It’s been kind of fun, strangely enough. Some videos I’d edited were of when mom and I released paper lanterns in 2011 to commemorate what would’ve been my sister’s 40th birthday. I uploaded the video on YouTube in case you’d wanna watch it.
Well, two, actually. One taken by me and another taken by a friend of ours with another video camera.

This week has been a good one for me, fandom-wise. We are getting into the season finales of various episodes, and for many, it naturally means CLIFFHANGER!!! If done well, these can be a nice way to wrap up the season (or series sometimes). If not done well, it can lead to frustrations (Castle, I’m looking at YOU).

”SPOILERS )

And a webcomic that I follow that is created by two friends of mine, two of the characters that I ship on there will be reunited very soon and I’m pretty giddy about that as well.

I’m such a romantic sap…

In honor of July 4th, I wanted to post the video of the song that plays at the end of the American Experience exhibit at EPCOT. I've always had a fondness for it and it's been a long time favorite of mine and I do admit to getting a little emotional every time I hear it.

Enjoy!

As a bonus, I'll play the video of the song I posted in honor of Canada Day a few days ago. Also from EPCOT I wanted to find the original version rather than the new one they did a few years ago. Since I have quite a few Canadians on here, I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday!

Again, sorry for the lack in updates. I keep telling myself I'm going to do it, but other things happen and it doesn't get done.

Some things are still the same in many ways. Work is still pretty much in transition for the time being. Since the people from HealthFirst haven't permanently settled in to our building yet, things are somewhat relaxed in atmosphere. Our supervisor isn't one who is super strict about a lot of things. I don't know how that will change when they do move in. Hell, I may be gone by then. I've got almost a month to go yet.

I did make friends with the new lady in our room. Her name is Lisa (Lisa no. 2 as a matter of fact since we have an established Lisa in there) and she's very nice. She's been in Florida since August and has been working for MIMA/HealthFirst Medical Group for six months. She was originally in registration, but she wanted something different so she moved into our department. It seems like a good fit for her. She learns fast and has been helping with keeping everything caught up.

Her and her husband moved from North Carolina, not far from where we'll be moving to in Tennessee. She has a daughter that still lives in that area who just recently got married. I'm glad I got to make friends with her.

Our moving plans are still going forward. I think once I quit my job, I'll be more motivated to pack things away since I'll have more time during the day and I tend to work better when I'm under a time crunch. I don't know why that is, but I was like that in school as well. My mom told my one aunt who lives here and she just said that 'people need to do what they feel they need to do.' It's a pretty non-committal response if you ask me, but that the way she is. Mom is going to call my other aunt ostensibly tonight and tell her.

Yesterday, mom and I went to the Warbird Airshow that is held every year nearby and met up with [profile] cosmic_reverie while there. We went on a Huey helicopter ride which was totally awesome! Mom and I volunteered to be in the gunner's seats which faced sideways out the door. We were securely strapped in, so there was no risk of us falling out or anything. I was able to take some video while onboard:

We watched the air show afterward and it was quite the spectacle. I took a ton of pictures.

I did manage to get a partial sunburn on my legs since I missed a few spots with the sunscreen. So now I have patchy red spots on my knees and upper legs. At least I wear long pants to work.

I did a strand test for my henna and it turned out really well, so I have high hopes for the rest of my hair come Saturday. I'll post pictures once complete.

As to the title of the entry, Laura asked me what my call sign would be. I thought for a minute and said it'd probably be Dragon Lady since I like dragons and was born in the Year of the Dragon. I kinda like it!

Dragon Lady signing off.

Coming home today, I was listening to the radio when this one particular song came on. I listened for a bit and what do you know, I started liking it. Then I got home and looked it up on YouTube. So, here it is:

Now, for some of you, it's probably not all that new, but I don't listen to the regular radio all that often so when I find a song it tends to be later than most people.

A friend of mine sent me this link via email and I instantly liked it. I like the clips used and I really like the song. In fact, I'll probably end up buying it at some point.

Which clips can YOU identify?

And here's the official music video for your enjoyment.

Since today is Star Wars Day, I thought I'd post this little gem for everyone. I find this utterly hilarious. Enjoy!

Posting this because I still think it's hilarious as hell.

Yes, it's a little goofy and a cat with human lips looks more than a little creepy, but I found it very amusing.

Enjoy!

Totally one of my faves from when I was a young'un. It's rarely ever played on television anymore. More's the pity.

And I plan to post another Christmas card post in the next few days. Be on the lookout!

Dude, I know I just made a post, but I HAD to share this!!!

Yeah, I'm excited about this! I love Celtic culture and redheaded heroines. Plus, it's Pixar. They rarely go wrong.

And I used Kenshin because he's the only redhead on this account.

Yeah. I'm looking forward to this one even though I never finished the first book.

In other news, I have discovered the awesomness that is Oingo Boingo (with a name like that, how can they be anything BUT awesome). Mostly due to the Planetarium playing Dead Man's Party at the Halloween Laser Show. Still, due to Danny Elfman doing the singing, I keep thinking to Jack Skellington is the lead singer (since Danny does the singing voice at least of Jack). So I've been listening to them on a loop on my iPod. Well, them and OneRepublic. Specifically their song Good Life which I first heard on a Disney commercial of all places.

And in case you were curious, they are the same band that sang Weird Science, another awesome 80's movie related song.

I need more Hunger Games icons and icons of badass girls in general...
